unfortunately my MIL is the SAME way with her youngest son. and has been for a long time... it's easier to agree and get them quiet than try and say no. at least in her opinion. It drives me crazy! all he has to do is whine and he gets his way. some parents don't have the desire to actually parent, especially by the time it's their third child. if my children ever acted like that... actually no, they won't. her problem is because she gave in

yes! year-round schools are proven to be better for all the kids I know that attend! by not having a huge break for summer, more information is retained, and they don't lose multiple weeks for refreshing what they learned the previous year. plus, with parents working - children that stay home during summer vacation, aren't doing much, except most likely sleeping, eating and playing video games or on the computer!

Off-Topic / Re: abortions
« on: August 16, 2012, 10:09:04 am »Message ID: 588645
I am pro-choice. most abortions must be BEFORE 8 weeks, and they are EXPENSIVE. i don't think anyone in their right mind uses them as contraception (which is a common idea among pro-lifers) if an unplanned pregnancy occurs, it wasn't intentional whether or not condoms were used or birth control was used. I know someone who got pregnant while taking her birth control regularly - as directed - with a condom that broke and got pregnant. For someone who did everything they are told to do, why should they not have another way to avoid the life they had tried so hard to avoid? many people associate abortions with the typical, invasive measures taken - there are other ways, including a pill taken at the office and then you walk out the door. A lot of people are against abortions because of the method used, but what about this new method? where do you get off suggesting that others should not be able to choose whether or not they want a child. you can believe in adoption over abortion, but what about those 9 months? what if that person was put on bed rest at 4 months? what if that person had died due to complications because she couldn't get an abortion? what if she had been raped?
Think about that one for a second, a 16 year old girl is raped, and gets pregnant, she cannot have an abortion - so she gives the baby up for adoption so she can forget the horrible thing that happened to her. Fast forward 18 years. that child now wants to find his birth mom, and he shows up at her door, asking why she gave him up. now change the circumstance from rape to incest. Would you allow a 14 year old girl impregnated by her own father, uncle, brother... to abort that baby?
If so, congratulations - you are now pro-choice. You cannot be pro-life and agree to it in a few situations, unfortunately society cannot work that way. otherwise we would have a TON of "rapes" so that an unplanned pregnancy could be aborted.
If you continue to say you wouldn't allow that young girl to get an abortion, I would re-evaluate your thinking process. What if it was you, your sister, your daughter, or your granddaughter?

once a week i use the sensitive skin care light face wash (or any light face wash) with an exfoliating sponge (otherwise thanks to the nasty florida weather my face starts to look peely) and then the rest of the week, i wash my face in the shower with clean and clear (i change the kind everytime i run out - right now it's a yellow one (i don't know what it's called) and then when i get out of the shower, i use clean and clear astringent and let it air dry for 10 - 15 mins. then I put a decent amount of face moisturizer - i use two different kinds - they both work equally as well. one is an acne fighting moisturizer (i believe clean and clear) and the other is just a small ponds brand. then i leave that on all night. in the morning, i use the astringent again, and let it air dry for 10 - 15 mins. use a smaller amount of the acne moisturizer and apply any makeup! none of these things I am really set on, brand wise... it just happens to be what I have at the time. if I see a new face moisturizer or have heard good things about it I usually get it and that applies to face washes as well.

as long as you can say no to the justin beiber notebooks and the hello kitty binders. it's not TOO bad. walmart has 10 cent folders, 17 cent notebooks, 92 cent binders. middle schoolers and high schoolers ALWAYS ask for more than they need, I've got a full dresser of left over supplies that I reuse. and at the end of the school year, anything that is in good condition gets put away until august! really all they need is a back pack, a few folders, a binder or two (target has 2 in binders for $3.50 - so have them combine a few classes!) some pens and pencils (dig through old back packs and drawers - i'm sure you have extras!) and paper! which if you're like me, you buy 20 of the 15 cent packs at the beginning of the year and misplace them - so you probably have left overs of those too!
