Debate & Discuss / Re: Take America Back

I hear politicians say that a lot.

I don't get what they mean.

Back from whom? Back to where? Back to what?

We have lost some of the American Way of life. Expenses are out of control. We need to rein in the spending. Maybe that is what they mean by Taking America Back. Government wants to control way to much of our lives.BMaston12

Debate & Discuss / Re: Guns and the Crazies

In light of still another mass shooting today (Oregon) , you have to wonder what is to be done about the mentally ill and those with anger management issues getting guns.  I believe in the right to bear arms, but there are too many who seem to have issues responsibly having them.  I wish I had an answer.  However, too many innocent people are being injured or killed.  My support for absolute gun rights is starting to waiver.  More drastic controls may have to be found and enforced.
You have to ask yourself about the parents. There are so many of these kids who have something missing or this would not happen. We need to figure out what is missing. Then we can maybe fix the problem. But I still think there is something wrong with the parenting.

Off-Topic / Re: at my window

At 4 AM, I heard a noise that sounding like tapping. I peaked out and saw a furry animal sitting on my windowsill. I called night security at the front desk. He came out and shooed the cat away.
We have had stray cats on our property from time to time over the last 8 - 10 years.
Fortunately, the cat did no damage to my window screen.
I would have expected a squirrel. A cat is a surprise. But my mother-in-law traps them and callS the city to pick them up. Once she caught a possum! BMaston12

Do you enjoy walking your dog? This is the question, who likes to walk the most you or your dog? Do you have a dog that walks you, no matter what size? lol. I really loved to walk my dog. Do you have dog shoes for your dog?
I don't have dog shoes. I do walk my little Pom almost every day. It is good for him and good for me too. Love the early morning wake-up.

Off-Topic / Re: What shift do you work at your job and do you like those hours?
« on: September 06, 2015, 07:27:38 am »Message ID: 1009686
I work 7:30am to 4:00pm and I like my hours. At previous jobs, I worked all kinds of hours
and I did not like that. For example, at one job I worked 9-6 a few days, 10-7 one day, 12-9 one day and every other sat, 9-5.
I only work 6 hours and I do like no evenings. However, I would like to work more during the week instead o weekends. I have gotten used to rearranging my schedule. I have more time to volunteer during the week now. I like that. BMaston12

Anyone have thoughts on what is going on in the stock market and how long it will last?
It is hard to tell. The stock is volatile. Buyers and sellers watch the trends and they change sometimes hourly. I can't predict what will be tomorrow. BMaston12

What are you cooking for the holiday?

We may barbecue some ribs, hamburgers and some polish sausage.
No. I haven't done any holiday cook-outs since my hubby died in 2014. I do miss that. Now I just visit others who are cookin out. I will be getting ready for my vacation, which starts after Monday. BMaston12

Off-Topic / Re: What do you think about people who
« on: September 04, 2015, 07:35:22 am »Message ID: 1009278
What do you think about people who act stupid so they don't have to do anything or so they can draw a check and not have to work?  I am over people acting stupid.  It's like when they get to the register to pay and act like they do not know how to swipe the debt / credit card.  Seriously?  One of these days I am not going to be able to keep the words inside my head.  lol
There are enough people out there who don't have a clue. We don't need more who really d are intelligent. They are just trying to bilk the system. Freeloaders! BMaston12

I came across a new way to make peeling hard boiled eggs faster and easier.Put a slice of lemon in with the eggs before you boil them.Do like you always do with the eggs. And you will be surprised how it works.
What a great trick. I really don't like it when the shells peel off half o f the egg. Nice to know. I will try that one next time. BMaston12

Off-Topic / Re: Another August bites the dust
« on: September 02, 2015, 03:36:11 pm »Message ID: 1008900
It might seem strange to have a month that you don't like, but....

my least favorite month is August because I'm not a hot weather person.  This weekend I plan to celebrate the fact that I survived another August.

No kidding.   ;D

I think my favorite month would be November.

Do you have favorite and least favorite months, days of the week or seasons?
Truly hot in Texas. Glad this one is over too. Fall is coming up and I like it. Not so many colors change here in my neck of the woods. I do love the temps. BMaston12

I am really tired today, been a very busy few days.

I actually have nothing to say today, no opinion on anything....(This is where my family would say "surely you jest.")

My brain is on a short hiatus.

Hope you all have a good day.

 :rose:
I do have times of silence. But I do talk more than I ever used to. Since my husband died, I engage in more conversations. I find myself reaching out to more people. It is very rewarding to me. I feel like I am finding my purpose. BMaston12

« on: August 30, 2015, 06:43:48 pm »Message ID: 1007704
there is an element of surprise in each new day.
someone might give you something you need.
a neighbor might need help.
you might be able to solve a problem for someone.
Each day is a blessing. Most of the time we have no idea what it will be. I am just glad that I have learned to look at each day with a positive attitude. Be grateful  to wake up to an new day.  BMaston12
