I rest my case..............

No legitimate "case" was presented; merely a lopsided wish for freedom of speech "rights" to apply only to xtian fundies and not to reasoned opposition to mythological nonsense.

If your verbal bully tactics are reasoned opposition, then you have been lying to yourself. You are entitled to your opinion, but when that opinion comes with putdowns, high horse superiority, and verbally shredding another person just because they believe in God, then something is very miserable and dark in your life.

I've zoned out at times while driving the car.

That could be extremely dangerous.

Somehow, the car knows where to go. If you have a lot of errands to run or thinking of other things, it's easy to not pay attention when you are driving.

The car does not possess consciousness and doesn't know where to go; that'd be the semi-aware driver.  It is such semi-aware drivers who aren't paying attention and are responsible for a large number of car accidents.  Not only are they a danger to others, they are a danger to themselves.  The police term this as "reckless driving".

Oh for goodness sake grow up!  "The car knows where to go" was a joke! However, you have once again followed me into a thread just to administer another sarcastic put down. Don't you have better things to do?

Like.......go soak your head!

Little by little lets take everything away from this country that elicits pride, bravery, love, etc., for our country. Lets be like the nations that spit, march, burn, and dirty the American flag. Lets defame everything that made this country great and join those with a voice who want to destroy her. Destroying a country from within is so much more effective than waiting for someone to destroy from outside. Lets take away her citizens rights one by one.

Lets let other nationalities take over our cities and towns one by one and sit back and claim their right to do so. Lets hate all those who love this country and love God, because after all they are the enemy right? How dare they pray for God to heal America and make her fruitful, how dare they pray for the peace and wisdom for her leadership to lead with wisdom. Lets make sure that those same Christians are verbally assaulted when we get every chance and opportunity. Lets blaspheme the very God they serve, and poke fun at their faith. How dare they have something called "Faith" that they can't explain because it's supernatural and personal between them and their Creator. Lets make sure they are ridiculed for their belief in God and His Word, knowing that they will not ridicule back, but only stand up for the love they have for their Savior. How dare they!

Lets make sure that we throw our Nations morals out the window and adopt an "anything goes" attitude. Lets kill our unborn, take from the poor, give to the rich, call right wrong, and wrong right, lets oppress the innocent and pure in heart, Lets take prayer out of the schools, no Bibles either, lets take everything we can about God off our money, our Pledge, and anything else we can think of. In fact, lets start a movement that God does not even exist, and the Bible is nonsense. Lets argue every point of life, and explain away every miracle or call it a lie.

Then......when God turns His back on this Nation, lets blame everybody but ourselves when America falls.

There are people on here that I wouldn't trust to clean my shoes, little lone give them a way to contact me outside this venue. So much hate and animosity that there would be no way anybody would be stupid enough to open their personal life to them. Bully's on a playground that have taken it into their adult life. If they were someone I could identify in my real life, I would have a restraining order against them.......no lie!!

It's amazing how biased most of the media giants are. They can ruin a reputation by twisting the facts or downright lying. Some of our online sites "news" is biased also. Yahoo news is notorious for pushing their own liberal agenda. They are always deleting someone's comment that doesn't match their liberal stance. What is sad is that a lot of people read the news and accept it without researching further. We have a very gullible public, and that's who they prey on. Not everything in print is truthful.

I use the self checkout, but I hate when you need help, but the cashiers are so busy TALKING to each other, that they don't notice!! AARRGGGHHHHHH!!!!! >:(

That's what the self checkouts are for.....to do it yourself, without the assistance of the checker. I myself will never use self checkout counters because that is taking someone's job. More and more the customer service industry is shrinking, and big companies are making the customer do the work now. I refuse to "pad" their bottom line while they raise prices weekly and get free labor from the public. No, No, No!!!

Off-Topic / Hank Williams Jr.

I don't care if Monday Night Football banned Hank Williams Jr. for the media hype surrounding him about the fact he supposedly compared Obama to Hitler. This has been blown way out of proportion by the mainstream media and has resulted in some pretty nasty backlash towards Williams. Thing is, they sensationalized it and twisted it around to sound like something it wasn't.

The MC's (Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood) performed a skit about it at the beginning of the CMA's and everybody was hysterical with laughter. Right about then, Hank comes onstage and everyone erupted in cheers, and gave him a standing ovation. Just goes to show how stupid the whole thing got, and how the public can show the media just who's side they are on.

People are getting tired of being "force feed" the mainstream media's hype, and are letting them know it. Either report the news correctly, and if there is no news, STOP making it up......liars!

Off-Topic / Re: Do you think students should work when in high school and college?
« on: November 09, 2011, 10:24:09 pm »Message ID: 444957
My son worked a part-time job after school to pay for his first car. We took care of the insurance, but he had to keep up on maint., gas/oil. It didn't hurt him one bit. I worked while I went to college and it didn't hurt me either. I also was on a half day work schedule my last 2 years of high school. I loved it and the fact that the money I made was mine. It taught me the value of a good days work and the "fruits" of my labors. How to budget for what I wanted, etc.

There's nothing wrong with teaching our kids a work ethic at a young age. Back in my day, you could get a work permit at 14 and my first job was (age 14) working as a dishwasher in a restaurant during the Summers in Lake Tahoe on the South Shore. I worked myself up to waitress and made quite a bit of money before each school year for clothes, etc. What kid in 1965 could make close to $30 in tips a day plus hourly wage?. I worked every Summer there before graduating. That experience taught me more than anything else about responsibility.

I passed that work ethic along to my son as he was growing up. Today he works for a Fortune 500 company in upper management, and they fly him all over the world. He is highly respected among his peers and gets promotions all the time. I see a whole generation today of those who don't want to work or do anything with their lives. School is important, but so is getting our children ready for the real world.

Off-Topic / Re: "I never get sick"
« on: November 09, 2011, 08:05:29 pm »Message ID: 444932
What about a place where you are stuck and can't get away.....like an airplane, church, etc? I think airlines need to be more observant letting people get on the plane that are really ill (coughing, sneezing, clearly perspiring with a fever, etc.). All the air in the plane is recycled, and your going to be breathing those germs.

The problem with the airlines is they don't care about passengers.  Period.  You're a valued customer until your money is in their hand, and then you essentially just become 'cargo' for them to transport from destination 'a' to destination 'b'.

The thing which gets me the most is the airlines won't even work with you in situations like you describe.  Several years back I was moderately sick.  I knew I shouldn't be flying, but had already paid over $300 for a ticket.  I called the airline explaining I was sick, felt it was in the best interest for others I didn't fly, and asked if they could re-book me on a flight I found of theirs leaving a few days later which was only about 20% full.  Their response?  They wanted to know if I bought travel insurance and had a doctor's note.  When I told them no, they then said they could do it for a $100 re-booking fee.  What?!  You have a flight 80% empty in a couple days.  I wasn't trying to get on a flight with only a handful of open seats.  :angry7:

Ultimately, I got a surgical mask and wore it to do my best to not spread to the others on the plane around me.  I knew it wasn't 'full proof', but at least it was better than nothing.  You would think that at the very least, airlines would supply these to and ask those who are sick to wear on flights; if they won't be cooperative in re-booking for them.  But, who am I kidding?  These are the same companies who nickel and dime for everything now.

You are going to get sick in this life, but you can reduce your chances greatly by washing your hands regularly for 20 seconds (the time it takes to sing Happy Birthday twice), good hygiene, plenty of sleep, liquids, eating right, and exercising to build up the immunity. Then when we get a bug, it passes rather quickly.

Very good points.  I don't know how many times I have heard people say "Well, it's good I get sick a few times a year.  I'm building immunity."  That's true, you are building antibodies.  But, you can also build immunity by following steps you mentioned and generally taking care of yourself.  Why suffer getting sick when you can help yourself with a few measures of prevention by changing habits in your life?

You are sooooo right in all your points Oryon20. I fly quite a bit, and the airlines are implementing more and more restrictions out there that cost the customer more money. Don't you just love those hidden fees? That's absurd that they would not change your flight for free. A doctors note and flight insurance? What? Are we in school? You were being up front and honest with them. Like you said, they had your money, and was willing to take more from you because of your misfortune to get sick.....how dare you get sick! That's going to cost you a penalty! At least you tried to keep your germs to yourself by wearing a mask. Can't tell you how many "kids" with snotty noses and sneezing are on the plane and sometimes the parents let them run around. I've had kids leaning over the back of their seat looking at me and their noses are running, and hands filthy. I try very nicely to tell them to turn around and sit down. I say it loud enough so the traveling parents can hear me and realize they need to watch their little darling.

I'm flying out in about a week........and it always creeps me out. The recycled air of everybody's germs. Not to mention how many have sat in my seat before me (between cleanings)? There's not much you can do except the following: Ask for "new" earphones. I pay extra for the new ones sealed in plastic. Some airlines just recycle them from patron to patron....ewwww  I've seen flight attendants have them stacked on their arm (not packaged) as they go around distributing them to those who want them. I carry my own pillow and fleece throw (if needed on some long flights). Use Clorox wipes on my table and armrests, also any other hard surface I might need to touch while in flight. use hand sanitizer sparingly. If I can help it, I don't use the restrooms. Of course on a 14 hour flight, that's impossible, but I touch very little, wash my hands twice, and open the door with a paper towel to leave. I know this smacks of Howard Hughes, but don't care.

Some of the big International airlines (Cathay Pacific comes to mind), on long flights, they will give you a packet with everything new in it. A small pillow, a blanket, booties, eye mask, etc. I took a flight to Hong Kong and back on Cathay Pacific, and talk about spoiled. Both planes (there and back) were spotless, and smelled clean. It was great. Everything they gave us was new and packaged. El AL was also good, but they had a community bread basket that the flight attendant passed around before each meal. People were encouraged to reach in and pick out which ever kind of roll or bread they wanted. Uh, no! I don't eat open snacks in restaurants on the tables either. When you get to the smaller country airlines, uncleanliness is kinda the norm. Our own Southwest airlines are kind of dingy themselves.

I have insomnia, but try to get a good 8 hours during a 24 hour period. Sometimes I can nap for a good 4 hours during the day. You do what you can. Staying up all night is something I've had to live with. I get productive so it's not a waste.

I have zoned out reading also, and like others had to read the same paragraph over and over. If it happens too many times, then I know that reading at that moment is not a good idea because my concentration is nil. I have problems doing knitting or crocheting and watching a video at the same time.
