Off-Topic / Re: Favorite television shows?

I love True Blood, Big Love and Dexter.

From BBC Fan?! More like from HBO Fan (ok, Dexter's from Showtime). Just kidding!  ;D

But I have to agree. Those along with the Tudors are my favorites on paid stations. I also like a a bunch of cable shows, like Leverage, White Collar, and Burn Notice. Also, cooking shows like Iron Chef, Chopped, Worst Cooks in America, and Top Chef. Also among my fav's are Heroes, CSI (all of them), and Bones. But the one that I am most looking forward to is Lost! There is always so many surprises and hidden clues in it. It really keeps your mind active. Less than a week to go, woohoo!!!

I guess it depends on what you mean by "free" money... Nothing is free; time is money. Going by those axioms, PTC sites aren't really the best. The way you make a lot of money on those sites is to get a network of referrals under you. Now you can try to get referrals on your own by advertising your link on other sites, but you usually won't get many people signing up. A better option is to set up a website / blog that has links to several different PTC sites. You'll get more refs and on several different sites. But beyond just getting refs, you want to get "good" refs. Having a blog with a bunch of banners may get people to check out the sites, but unless they are also establishing a good base of referrals, they won't be making much money and eventually may just give up. To ensure that those who sign up under you are "good", you need to establish a relationship with them. Putting more info and / or tips on that blog is one way. If you can get them to become regulars on your blog, then when a new site comes along they'll be more apt to sign up under you for that site. `The best refs are those that you've established a personal relationship with. This means having e-mail and / or blog comments / forum conversations with them. If they feel that you are on their side, they will be loyal to you in return. When they are having trouble making money on their own, being there to support them and offer individualized suggestions will keep them in the game. But if you are going through all of this work, you may as well try to earn some extra non-PTC money thru your blog / website. Advertising or becoming an affiliate marketer can get you even more money on the side. Esp. if you become an affiliate for something that gets recurring purchases, your customers become like PTC referrals, except that instead of getting a percentage of a few cents a day, you get a percentage of a few bucks. Before you know it, you are making money not as a member of a PTC site, but as a professional blogger or web-site host.

Off-Topic / Re: Chocolate or Vanilla?

It depends on what for. For ice cream / milkshakes, I'd go with vanilla. For a candy bar, chocolate. Chocolate is also more versatile in other forms of cooking. I usually like chocolate in baked goods (esp chocolate chip cookies). I've also used chocolate in some recipes that you normally wouldn't think to use it in. Adding a little unsweetened chocolate to chili gives it a more earthy flavor. Unsweetened chocolate can also work well in some Bar-B-Que rubs. I guess for shear usefulness as well as flavor, I'd have to go with chocolate.

I agree with OldBuddy.... The Internet is a great way to make money... if you have the time! Doing the Daily's, surveys, even free paid offers will get you a few bucks a day. This is great when you're watching TV or home sick (like I am today  :sad1:) but it'll take a while to be able to cashout. Also, setting up your own blog or website to get advertising dollars, or your own ebay store takes time as well. If you need money immediately, your best option is to sell something at a *bleep* shop. If you can wait a week, then a temp job that pays weekly or selling something on e-bay / Amazon if you get lucky. Once you have at least something to live on, then you can starting looking for ways to make good money on-line.

Off-Topic / Re: Do you collect anything?
« on: January 27, 2010, 09:28:05 am »Message ID: 133894
I've always collected one thing or another... When I was young, I'd collect pennies. Mom and dad would let me go into their purse / pockets (respectively) at the end of the day and take out any pennies that I found. Then on the weekend, I'd wash and dry the pennies (funny how I never got them shiny again. Maybe if I knew more about chemistry I'd realize that the grunge wasn't all dirt), and sort them by date and mint location. When I moved out to go to college, mom made me take the pennies with me, or cash them in. I opted for the latter and found that I had collected over $100 bucks! (Go figure.. Now I'm "collecting pennies" on PTC / GPT sites!)

I used to also collect stamps when I was young, but it took too much time and mostly I just got flag stamps or other worthless stamps from the envelopes that my parents got sent to them (if only mail marketers and bill collectors would use commemorative stamps or those old, rare ones worth hundreds of dollars)

Now my collections are keychains (I get one whenever someone goes on a trip somewhere and they want to buy my a souvenir), pint glasses (go to a bar that has promotional pint glasses for sale), and beer bottle caps (my favorite are the caps depicting all 5 Three Stooges (Larry, Moe, Curly, Shemp, and Joe) that I got from a bar in Buffalo, NY).

I was also having problems yesterday and today, but I finally figured out what my problem was. Check the left side. There is a Redeem box that further explains what step you are on. This box is also where you complete the third step. Looking at the top and the left side was the key for me.
