Off-Topic / Re: how often do you see your parents?
« on: November 11, 2010, 04:28:38 am »Message ID: 267742
I don't get to see my parents as often as I would like.  They live only 3 hours away but I work every other weekend and time becomes hard to get away.  We have grandkids nearby and far away too so we have to travel to see them.

I do talk to Mom every week.  Dad may join us on the line, but not always.

Thank you for posting these Military Discount offers.  I just saw one of them on Facebook for Applebee's.
Your list includes many many options.

I love my Soldiers too!  :)

Off-Topic / Re: any military families?

I may not fit the bill for the "military family" that you are referring to.

Our son is active Army; daughter-in-law, his wife, is Army Reserve; and our youngest daughter is in the Army National Guard.

We are very proud of each of our children for their service commitment.  It is hard on the family as well as the extended family when any of the troops are deployed.

Our son is currently on his 3rd tour - he is in Kuwait after being in Iraq twice.  He is expecting his first baby - Sazianna will be born in December.  Our daughter-in-law has used Facebook to keep Jacob informed all during the pregnancy.  She has even posted 3-D ultrasound pictures!

Jacob has been stationed in Germany and now in Kansas (when not deployed).  Who knows where they will move to after this deployment. We live in Minnesota, so it is a long drive to visit each other.  As parents and grandparents we do wish we lived closer so we could see each other more often.

I am glad to hear that Longoria11 loves living on base and is enjoying the experience.  I'm sorry your parents are having a hard time with the distance between where you and they live.  I wish our son lived closer too, I miss him and his family.  It will be strange not being nearby when the baby is born.  She won't get to know us as well as the grandkids we have who live close.

But in Military families as in non-military families in today's mobile society, children grow up and move to where the jobs are.  Life has changed so much from the days when families stayed living near each other for decades.

I am grateful for modern technology like Facebook and cellphones and Skype.  We can send pictures and talk to the kids/grandkids pretty easily.  Not the same as hugging them or playing games with them, but it helps.

I love Facebook.  It allows me to stay connected to my kids.

Right now our son is serving in Kuwait.  Via Facebook his wife has been sharing the whole pregnancy experience with him.  She posted the baby's 3D ultrasound pictures, so now we all know what our new grand baby will look like (She will be born 12-10-10)

Besides, the connecting with kids aspect though, I love it because I play a game that pays me to play it.

Look me up on Facebook, I'll show you.  :)

Our daughter is having Thanksgiving at her house this year.

This will be the first time we have had a family holiday NOT at our house.

We are looking forward to it.

It is November 5.  Right now it is in the mid 20s.  Expected to get to 50s today and tomorrow, into the 60s!!!

I am excited about that!  I don't like the cold weather we get in Minnesota, but I love my husband and want to be where he is  :) so Minnesota is the place for me.

I just did a big road in October.

I drove from Iowa to the middle of Mexico.  I helped move my sister-in-law there where she is planning to retire.

Other than that big trip, I mostly see IA, MN, SD because I live in the SW corner of MN and most of family is in this region.

I have been to Kansas to visit our son and family and years ago I traveled to Germany to visit him when he was on a 2 week leave from Iraq.  He took me through Germany, Austria, Italy, & Switzerland....we were in the car most of the time so I would really love to go back so I could choose one locale and visit it.

I wish this were simplier.  :'(
But a simple copy isn't enough.  Need a screen shot or picture.  Too involved for me.  Good Luck!

Instructions for screen shots for Fusion Cash

For those wanting to send a screen shot of Paypal payment:

1. Open up your Internet browser and go to PayPal.

2. Login and click the "Details" link for your payment which is directly horizontal left from the amount.

3. Now, hit the "PRT SCRN" button your keyboard, it is usually located in the upper right part of the keyboard.

4. Now, minimize your browser and go to your "Start" button on the bottom left corner of your operating system. Then go to "All Programs" then go to "Accessories" then go to "Microsoft Paint". If it's not there, then go to "Start", and then click "Search" and search the term "MSPAINT".

5. Now once you are in Microsoft Paint, right click your mouse and hit paste. Now you should see the screenshot you took! Now, take the brush tool on the left toolbar and blur out information you want to keep confidential. I would suggest blurring out the PayPal transaction ID as well as your email or last name if it displays.

6. Now, save this to your desktop. By going up to "File" and clicking "Save".

7. Now, open your Internet browser back up and go to a hosting website. My favorite is http://tinypic.com . Once you go there, click Browse and then go to "Desktop" and click on the screenshot you just saved. Now click
"Upload".

8. Now, you should see a few links after a couple of minutes. Which one do you use? Well, If you want to display it as a thumbnail picture like the one above then just copy the link next to "Thumbnail for forums (1)". Now that you have that code, all you have to do is paste that on the forums. If you want to have the whole image just slapped directly into the forum without any shrinking, grab the last link: "Direct link" and just use these codes:

['img'] http://INSERTCODEHERE [/img] (without the ' ' on the first tag)

Other details:
You're permitted to obscure any non-FC related info that you don't want to share.  In fact, we would encourage it.  A screenshot of the email you received from PayPal is sufficient for credit.  So is a screenshot of the payment detail page on PayPal's website.  For direct deposit, a screenshot of your online banking which indicates the deposit is required for credit; alternatively, you can scan in a paper bank statement which indicates the deposit.
Lastly, for a check, a picture or scan of the check itself is required; you may obscure details but the check number must be visible to qualify for credit.

Thank you swogden for the detailed instructions on how to post a screen shot of payments.
I have been using Photobucket previously.

When I receive my payment around 11-20 I will try your method.

Awesome help!
Janet

Offers / Re: 2 new microsoft videos!!!!!!!!!!!

But I wish that Bing video would quit popping up.  I don't want to do it because I don't want any toolbars.  The only toolbars I have are FusionCash and the Norton one.  I don't need any more.   BangHead

The Bing video is the only one that is in my Special Offers too.  I cannot pass it to see the NEXT video either.
