Off-Topic / Do away with '...Someday...'
« on: August 19, 2017, 03:52:55 pm »Message ID: 1162262
How many times do you remember asking your family to do something exciting and met with the response 'someday' and the something turns into 'never happened'? I have tried to replace 'someday' with a concrete date tied to a plan of action. My daughter asked me to take her to a Green Bay Packer's game and I almost said someday but instead told her that I would take her in September of the year in which she graduated. I told her that I would get better seat levels based on her grades and I started saving, finding additional streams of revenue, and investing properly. She surprised me by being the class Valedictorian and I surprised her with tickets on the fifty yard line, tickets to see the Wisconsin Badgers the day before, and wined and dined her like there was no tomorrow. My son earned a Boar hunting trip in Florida and I am saving to take my wife on a luxurious twenty fifth anniversary trip. We can always get absorbed by work-how often can we make a difference for a loved one.

Off-Topic / I'd rather have
« on: August 19, 2017, 02:09:35 pm »Message ID: 1162258
a passport filled with stamps than a house filled with material things. This was a saying that was posted at a funeral we went to last Wednesday. My dearest friend's twenty one year old daughter passed away. She was considered a miracle baby as neither parent was thought to have the capability to have children. My friend, and his wife, joined their daughter in France while she did her studies abroad for six months. They then joined their daughter in Spain as she did an internship for six months. They traveled all over Europe. The memories that they had helped them remain strong, and positive, during the services. I would call my friend from time to time to go have dinner or catch a movie and would inevitably get a message saying he was traveling with his daughter. She had stepped on all six out of seven continents (missed Antartica). The predominant message taken from the funeral was to live life to it's fullest as you do not know what tomorrow might bring.

Payments / One day to go and I only need a penny!
« on: May 30, 2017, 10:14:31 pm »Message ID: 1145222
I am at twenty six dollars and thirty eight cents but only have fourteen dollars and ninety nine cents in my non-bonus balance (leaving me a penny short of being allowed to cash out). I should be fine though: I have five videos competed towards tomorrow's paid to click and am hoping the daily e-mail will be there when I wake up. I may do the daily e-mail for two cents, cash out, and then start next month's balance attempt with the fifteen cent paid to click. I am not too worried about any of my efforts being retracted as I did not do any surveys this month. I still need to hit seven posts before tomorrow at ten but figure I'll do three in the morning, three when I get home from my first job and another one when I finish my second job. Best of luck to all of you!

Off-Topic / One penny short

Although I am sitting at twenty six dollars and thirty eight cents, I only have fourteen dollars and ninety nine cents in non-bonus cash which puts me one penny shy of cashing out. I have five cents earned from videos so I should be able to get the paid to click bonus and or the two cent daily e-mail bonus. If I get both I think I will cash out right after getting the daily e-mail bonus and use the fifteen cent paid to click bonus towards next month's total. I am at twenty three posts including this one and I always aim for thirty one (even though we only need thirty) I like to under promise and over deliver in everything that I do. I'll try to get three posts done when I wake up in four hours, three posts done when I get home from the day job and another two posts after I finish at my second job. Good luck to all!

Off-Topic / Surprised?
« on: March 24, 2017, 05:06:47 pm »Message ID: 1131271
Are we surprised that the poorly put together travel ban was over turned, not once, but twice? Are we surprised that the revised health plan didn't gain the requisite approval? Even less surprised at the finger pointed at the minority party for the health care revision failure? It has been said that after reforming health care, determined not to happen today, that the next agenda item would be tax reform. Given the current administrations first one hundred day track record, tax reform agenda, the new wall cost proposal being dramatically under estimated, and Mexico's refusal to pay for the wall (surprised?) will we be surprised at increased taxes? I am not a fan of the current healthcare situation as it costs me considerably more for insurance that covers quite a bit less. But I am surprised that more thought didn't go into blind campaign promises.

Off-Topic / And the Oscar goes to...
« on: February 27, 2017, 08:42:32 pm »Message ID: 1125843
I didn't know until twelve hours after the Oscars were presented. I actually worked until I fell asleep-pretty much snubbed the Oscars till this morning when I was reviewing news for my day job. I think that I only saw one National Football League game this season as well.  I do not like providing support to over-paid athletes/actors/actresses that decide to use their venue to push political agendas. I very rarely watch television but when I do, I do not want to watch pro-athletes preaching about oppression nor do I want to listen to movie stars talking politics. I watch sports to watch sports. I watch awards shows to see how my opinion stacks up to movie critics. Regardless of whether their views match mine, or not, I do not want to see any of the inappropriate grand standing when I turned on the television to see something specific. If they want to make a difference then have them donate to a charity or group that is fighting for their political views.

Off-Topic / Twenty Three years...
« on: February 27, 2017, 08:35:13 pm »Message ID: 1125841
I celebrated my twenty third wedding anniversary and found that we still have the same spark, only stronger, then when we first got married. Now we share meals because our appetites aren't what they were twenty three years ago. We had dinner reservations at a fancy restaurant but ended up going for a hamburger at a nice steak place, with our neighbors. Our neighbors had free tickets for the ComedyWorks and we had a really good time. Pretty much zonked out as soon as we got home, though, because we had both gotten up at four thirty in the morning and had to wake up at that same time the next day. Gotta work as much as we can with two kids in expensive schools. But we gave each other thoughtful gifts, held hands and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The neighbors drove so we had a few more drinks then normal which we paid for the next day!On the cheap side, I managed to get a dozen roses with lilies, on a discount rack at Kroger's, for only seven dollars and fifty cents. Three days later and they are starting to bloom!

Off-Topic / Minimalism
« on: January 31, 2017, 07:23:07 pm »Message ID: 1120190
I have been somewhat of a minimalist since having children choosing, instead, to give my children everything that I could. I have worn the same boots for seven years, jeans for three years, and shirts for five years. I have definitely met the tenets of the 333 project by wearing less than thirty three items for three months. I have done it for five years. This year I have made a resolution to minimalize my food costs. Our state awards four hundred dollars a month in food stamps to those in need which is one hundred dollars per person or three dollars and thirty three cents per day ($1,216/year). My goal is to be under one thousand dollars for the year or $2.73 per day. This month( by close of today) I will have averaged $1.76 per day, spending a grand total of $54.56 this month. This allows me to spend a little more on myself for the celebration of my 24th anniversary next month. I am doing this on my own and paring down my family’s food costs.

Off-Topic / So Happy with what I have...
« on: January 31, 2017, 07:22:25 pm »Message ID: 1120189
People always seem to strive for material wealth and fail to appreciate all that they have. My main goal in life was to have a wonderful wife, two fantastic children and the ability to provide for their every need. My posts usually contain something about all of the excessive hours that I work and give the appearance of having no life. Nothing could be further from the truth.  I live through the happiness and wellbeing of my family and wouldn’t change a thing. I work a normal fifty five to sixty hour work week at my day job and am blessed with thirty five to forty hours on a night/weekend job which has me at home for whenever my family needs me. It allows me to be at all of the kid’s sporting events and special happenings. We have 10 to 12 friends that are intensely wealthy and never have the opportunity to be with their families. A large percentage of them have got family problems.

Off-Topic / Yapping Dogs
« on: November 21, 2016, 07:45:21 am »Message ID: 1105886
I have off from one of my jobs this week and am working overtime at my second job from home. I am utterly amazed, and disgusted, at how inconsiderate the neighbors across the gulch behind us are. They have three little yapping dogs that they just leave in the back yard barking for hours at a time. I find myself wondering why they have even gotten the dogs because they do not pay attention to them. These dogs are never walked and once a week the owners may peek their heads out and say "be quiet' which is far from effective. I have two golden retrievers. One of them will let out a hearty woof once a year. I would never leave my dogs unattended if they were a nuisance to the neighbors. I know that several of the neighbors have called the police but it does not seem to do any good. Bring the dogs in if they are barking, walk them, or give them up is my thought.

Off-Topic / Gout
« on: October 25, 2016, 07:56:27 pm »Message ID: 1100768
I am, Thankfully, on the tail end of gout in my foot! I have never had it and have heard that some people only have it once if ever. I woke up and it felt as if someone had hit my right foot (on the side) with a baseball bat. The pain was similar to a broken foot (I got one from falling while running)  and burning was similar Plantar Faciaitis. I had read that this was called the Rich Man's disease because richer foods generally cause this affliction. Not the case with me. I was eating a lot of spinach, not drinking enough water, not eating healthier food and enduring double doses of stress which are all said to be factors on their own. Excess beer consumption can also be a contributor but I only drink every six weeks or so. Too much caffeine can be to blame but I have not had coffee in a few weeks. I hope that none of you have to endure this thing called gout!
