Off-Topic / Re: Friends w/ your EX-HUSBAND OR EXBF?
« on: January 29, 2011, 05:56:16 am »Message ID: 305776
I moved out of the state that all of my ex's lived in.  There were only two that I would keep in contact with...my first went a wacky direction in religion but I still love her and my 2nd stopped talking to me after 7 years of dating (never consummated the relationship) and she was like a best friend. I opened a facebook account to see what they looked like 20 years later but they hadn't opened accounts.  The state, and generation, I came from wasn't very tecnologically saavy.

Off-Topic / Is anyone watching the Australian open?
« on: January 27, 2011, 08:20:24 am »Message ID: 304951
I am watching between shifts from 9-10:30 PM each night but am finding that most people aren't watching...probably because of the late time at which it is aired, that the Americans have been knocked out, or Tennis isn't a mainstream sport.  I am starting to play again...swapping out running after a major injury.

From a man's perspective: really long nails are grotesque and lacking in class while really short nails lack in feminity.  Un-manicured nails are a turn-off as well as hang nails and uneven cuticles.  Men's nails should be trimmed and filed.  Dirt under any size nails is a hygenic problem and not someone that I would avoid physical contact with.

Off-Topic / Re: What will become of us when movies loose their shine?
« on: January 27, 2011, 08:10:58 am »Message ID: 304926
I don't think that movies will ever lose their shine as they seem to constantly evolve with the human race and it's seemingly infinite capacity for imagination and creativity as well as the tremendous spped at which technology and computer imagination is moving.  There is no doubt that we would survive, if movies lost their shine, because our species started without movies.  The written word, internet, and social interaction will always be an outlet that we can fall back on.

Nathan Hale High School in 1981 and the University of Wisconsin in 1991. Revisiting classes at th University of Denver and hoping to be adding a fraduation date somewhere around 2014.  From Huskies and Badgers in the frozen swamps of Wisconsin to the Pioneers in Denver's desert. I am so much better off weather wise.  The whole lifestyle is great but I think the education level was better in Wisconsin...probably because the weather was so sucky and you couldn't enjoy a day outside of class!

What do you see when the Pillsbury Dough Boy bends over?  Doughnuts!
What do you get when you cross a Kangaroo and a cow? A Kanga-moo!
Why did God create man before he created woman?  Because he didn't want any advice!
What is a man's idea of safe sex? A padded headboard!

Off-Topic / Re: Do you like Adam Sandler?

Adam Sandler rocks!  His movies are hilarious!  I was in New York a few years ago and went to a cafe, asked the waitress if anyone famous had come in, and she replied that Adam Sandler had.  Later that afternoon while enjoying a few cocktails at a Central Park Cafe Adam Sandler walked past, saw our delight, and did a quick song and dance.  He is totally genuine!

Off-Topic / Re: What was your favorite cartoon as a child?

Danger Mouse!  It was a seldom played British import that tantalised my love of the english language and escape from mainstream vocabulary.  Today's cartoons, generally speaking, insult the intelligence.  I grew up, from Danger Mouse, to loving Dennis Miller's NFL commentary.  Our population loves everything simplified whereas I love having to look an occasional word up.

I originally hail from the state of Wisconsin...land of fat people, soon to be NFL Champion Green Bay Packers, mosquitos that mate with chihuahuas, gray skies from September 1st through May 30th, snow that turns black because it doesn't melt for 8 months, one bar for every two people and great food.  I have, since, moved to Colorado (17 years) and am in nirvana!

Off-Topic / Re: Medium Rare or Well Done
« on: January 26, 2011, 07:41:01 am »Message ID: 304450
Rare to medium rare is the best at giving the true flavor and, i believe, offers the most nutrients.  I think that cooking anything more than a medium temperature cooks away nutrients, flavor and the energy producing qualities that a body needs to extract from food fuels.  Steak Tartar with an egg, sunny side up, is the best...like sushi from a cow!

I am 47 years old and just started drinking coffee three years ago.  Started with the foofy stuff...milky ways, moved  on to caramel machiatos, started adding shots to the machiatos  to displace the mixers.  Now I am beginning to get out of control...an espresso machine at home, coffee shops six days a week...the baristas all know my name..aaaagh!

Debate & Discuss / Does God create challenges for you if you don't challenge yourself?
« on: January 20, 2011, 08:23:03 am »Message ID: 301412
Prior to having an intense work schedule, two kids, and training for an ultra-marathon I would have one thing after another happening that would have me asking "Why me?".  Now that I am seemingly too busy for problems they don't seem to crop up as frequently.  Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Debate & Discuss / Re: Does the truth come out when a person is drunk?
« on: January 20, 2011, 08:15:19 am »Message ID: 301408
I think that, occasionally, the truth comes out but, generally speaking, drunken conversations are heightened, distortions of reality and/or exagerations of whatever is bothering or pleasing a person at the time.  Alcohol is a poison, that I enjoy, that numbs the central nervous system and dulls the senses.

Green Bay Packers winning over the New England Patriots.  Not only do I love an underdog win but I come from Wisconsin and bleed green and gold.  The Packers need to make up for the Badgers loss and show Brett Favre that he made a huge mistake.  The Bears will be tough but Wisconsin will show up stronger than they did in Atlanta...they have momentum going for them!  I have my fingers crossed!

Off-Topic / Ever thought about leaving everything in your current life and starting all over
« on: January 14, 2011, 06:29:54 am »Message ID: 298939
I read John Updike's "Run Rabbit Run" in College and the concept of leaving it all behind and starting afresh surfaces more and more.  Leaving the daily grind, selfless/thankless acts, torturing myself by working three times harder than anyone that I know, sacrificing my body and health and not getting what I want...trading it for a minimal stress, fun job out of the country, turning my back on the people leaching the life from my body, and starting all over...a whole new and simpler life sounds so much better (maybe its just a guy thing).
