OK, but why can't you open the hatches on a submerged submarine?
because the submarine is pressurized.

Can't tell if this is a joke response or not ;) Classic example of exactly what's going on here - joke taken out of context sounds moronic, lol.

I loved this post from the Washington Post: "Pro tip: If your strategy to turn the presidential election around relies on Romney’s sense of comic timing, you might want to prepare a Plan B, as well."

Off-Topic / Favorite Cheap & Easy Recipes?
« on: September 27, 2012, 03:21:46 pm »Message ID: 612091
Inspired by another post asking for Ramen Noodle recipes, I'm interested in what your favorite cheap and easy recipes are that keep you from defaulting to take out on a late night.

My easiest and cheapest is probably doing spaghetti and meat sauce (brown half a pound of ground beef with some onions and garlic, add canned sauce and boiled pasta) but I'm pretty sure everyone knows how to make that one, so I'll get us started with homemade mac & cheese!

Boil elbow pasta (I do about a cup for two people, I eyeball it really)
Melt butter in an oven safe pan, add a few tablespoons of flour to make a roux
Add about half a cup of sour cream to the roux
Add half a cup of shredded cheese (I like Parmesan or Swiss, but you can play around! If you're feeling adventurous you can add a sprinkle of blue cheese or a few slices of brie to this also!)
Melt all of that together, stir in the elbow pasta, and season to taste (salt, pepper, garlic powder, whatever sounds good to you!)

Here's where you get to customize it: I like to add frozen peas, corn, or shrimp. I've also put in cherry tomatoes. Again, whatever sounds good to you!

Mix bread crumbs with a little melted butter, and spread over top.
Bake at 350 for half an hour - delicious, super easy, and can be really cheap!

it can be a healthy food if you let it be one.

Aren't ramen noodles covered in some kind of chemical so that they don't stick together when you boil them that causes cancer? It would be great if this thread was looking for healthy recipes on a ramen noodle BUDGET, instead of just looking for creative recipes using ramen noodles.

The world will end with fiery vengeance, duh.

Off-Topic / Re: why are people so low key nosy when they are in your bathroom?
« on: September 27, 2012, 02:41:26 pm »Message ID: 612070
man every time i turn around there is someone trying to just go to the bathroom to look in our med cabinet or our linen closet. how about this next time im expecting some company i will put marbles in the cabinet so that when they open it it will spill out and i will know for sure who that person is. ;D

Hahahahaha! I love this idea! I'm not sure why (or how you know) people are looking in your medicine cabinet or your linen closet, but if you fill it up with marbles you'll definitely have confirmation! I can just see the person being like - uh, I was looking for the soap?

But in all reality do people really do this? Have you caught them? lol

An earthquake! There was a small earthquake on my birthday one year. It wasn't really all that exciting. Nothing was damaged, but the ground sure did shake a lot! My dad was yelling get into a doorway! But it was over so fast we didn't even have time to do anything, lol.

I just think about all the idiotic things people would do if you could have the windows open. I can imagine little kids trying to lean out of them to see better and throwing things out.

Or...you know...dying before they had a chance to do anything idiotic.

Is this a for real Mitt quote? Sometimes I just don't know. It's gotta be from The Onion, or some other parody, right? Right?? Someone that stupid can't have made that much money and be running for president. Right???

Which cable service do you think have the best service? (why do you think the cable company you chose have the best service)

No cable - the cheapest company of them all! We have the HD rabbit ears, so still get to watch all the good shows on Fox, NBC, ABC, etc. We also watch a lot of shows online. Netflix and Amazon Prime memberships can make a lot of cable shows available to you.

Offers / Re: PTC - Entertainment

I liked the old entertainment section too. Everything was right there to look at and if you could hover over the pics to see what the article was about. I guess I'm too lazy to scroll...lol They were talking about it here. http://www.fusioncash.net/forum.php?topic=45632.0

Oh, thanks for letting me know! Looks like FC Admin is even asking for feedback about it - maybe we can get the old ways back!  ;D Funny how people hate change, lol.

Offers / Re: New pdc format
« on: September 27, 2012, 02:03:02 pm »Message ID: 612051
I agree that the new weather is quite nice but I don't care much for the new Entertainment.  Additionally, in the daily offers section, the PTC offer seems to be the only one that doesn't open in a new tab and I miss that because I usually go back to the offers after dong the PTC :(
Hey - thank you for the feedback on the Entertainment panel.  We're still testing the waters on that.  Do you have any suggestions?  What do you miss about the old Entertainment section?

As for the same-page loading of PTC it's unfortunately necessary due to a weird IE&Firefox bug.

I'm not the person who originally made this comment, but I'd rather have the story snippets at the top than the entertainment photos. I'm not interested in seeing Lady Gaga wearing a fur coat, but I always found something interesting in the stories. There was a good mix of more "news-y" entertainment stories like Neil Armstrong dying along with the rest.

The ad in between the two is very large also. Not sure how much you can change that though.

Also want to add that Horoscope section always loaded waaaaay down the page for me and out or whack with the rest of the text, and now it's fine.

Agreed, I liked seeing a picture and being able to scroll through the headlines and open the full story on one if it interested me. I was always a little confused why the stories were clearly UK written? But they were always pretty good, I wish they were still like that.

Offers / PTC - Entertainment

I know this isn't a huge deal, but I hate the new format of the Entertainment page on the PTC daily offer. I loved it before, and now I guess I'm just not used to it, but I find it more difficult to get my little daily fix of entertainment news. Anyone else feel this way?  :dontknow:

Off-Topic / Re: Im not happy
« on: September 27, 2012, 01:24:12 pm »Message ID: 612024
the key here is boyfriend, not husband, you better get out, and as far away as you can, in the future its going to get worse, leave and dont look back, and if he tries to be nice dont go back, if its abuse, it'll only end bad put your fellings on the side and get away.
[/quote]

That's exactly what I was thinking, if you're not married and she's not your child, why put yourself through all of this. You should never remain in an abusive relationship, and it doesn't sound like you have anything tying yourself to this one anyway.

Off-Topic / Re: just another day
« on: September 27, 2012, 01:22:39 pm »Message ID: 612022
this week has been so busy that i haven't had time to do any couponing lately that stinks.   Who wishes there were just an extra hour in the day..or maybe we should add a day between saturday and sunday.

I sure do! When I think of how much easier life would be if I had just one extra day, I can hardly stand it. It's also amazing how much cheaper our lives would be if we had more time - like your coupon example, for instance, or if we never succumbed to take out because we always had time to make cheap and healthy home cooked meals, or pack a lunch, etc. So let's get on this extra day! :)

Off-Topic / Re: Do you work full time or work from home?
« on: September 27, 2012, 01:20:27 pm »Message ID: 612018
I work full time in an office setting, but I'm transitioning to working from home at least 2 if not 3 days a week. Most things can be done online these days, and with a baby coming any day now this will make my life a lot easier. It also means cheaper commuting costs for me, and I'll get back an hour and a half of my life each day that I telecommute (half an hour going, and an hour coming back).
