We are expected to go down to 20 tonight.  With the wind blowing, it feels like it's blowing right off of ice!

Hi everyone, I am shocked at how long it has been since we last chatted what is everyone up to?
I agree!  Your post just drew me in since I've been out for quite awhile now.  Good to see you!  :)

The new look is clean and crisp - very nice.

Does anyone know where our "Bookmarks" are?  Or am I just overlooking the link for it?  Thanks!

I hope you don't need surgery, either.  Please be careful, okay?  I hope you have a speedy recovery.

Off-Topic / Re: You guys ready for the Christmas Holiday?

I'm ready for it as far as loving Christmas, enjoying the cold, and hearing/seeing decorations, lights, etc., just about everywhere.  As far as gifts and cooking/baking, I'm nowhere near ready, lol!

For style:  Yes!  I have a few favorites.

For fun:  Yes!  I love different types of hats and having fun times.

For protection:  Yes.  Depending on the situation, I would wear whatever would be needed.

I watch it occasionally.  I originally started watching it because of David Boreanaz being on there.  Plus, the fact I get into that type of topic and research.

I agree, it's really been hard lately.  I did have to take some things in to see what I could get for them, just so I could pay a medical bill or pay for a prescription.  Hang in there!

Off-Topic / Re: being frugal
« on: October 30, 2013, 09:32:07 pm »Message ID: 811668
With everything going on lately, including this healthcare issue with rising payments, being frugal is even harder because of not having hardly enough left over, after paying everything that needs to be paid.  Many salaries are not going up, yet everything else is going up with cost. But it does pay off being frugal, no matter how little is put aside, consistently.

I feel for her.  So many companies, too, are reducing their workers and/or hours, because of this healthcare issue, so that makes it harder to find a job.  Hopefully, there will be something available for her - there have been some great suggestions already posted.  I wish her the very best.

Off-Topic / Re: Strange Fads
« on: October 30, 2013, 09:23:40 pm »Message ID: 811654
I just had to look up my old discussion about strange and gross fads.  I posted back in June about eyeball licking.  I thought by now this must have died down.  Instead, according to a news show I saw today, this fad has spread around the world.  Fortunately, the news program listed a number of serious ailments that can be caused by this practice.  I can't believe anyone would even try this.  It could cause blindness.  The mouth/tongue has all sorts of bacteria.

I agree with you.  I can't even imagine anyone wanting to do it or anyone wanting it done to them.  The whole idea of it is gross.

Debate & Discuss / Re: Society
« on: October 30, 2013, 09:21:28 pm »Message ID: 811648
Society has changed a lot from when I was growing up.

A great many kids of today are disciplined less, get away with much, and are very disrespectful to much of authority, including parents, relatives, teachers, neighbors, cops, etc.  Some aren't afraid of discipline or punishment.

There are stronger clashes between Christians, nonbelievers, atheists, other faiths, and groups, such as Westboro, and Freedom From Religion, etc.  Instead of choosing to live how each desires or believes, it seems more and more that people are being challenged, forced, and chided, for their beliefs/non-beliefs.

Attitudes, in general, are not as respectful and kind - as someone else in here said, patience is lacking with many.  The "all about me" attitude is showing with many.  Some seem to forget that their views/thoughts are not the only correct views - there is a lack of acceptance that others do not always share their same views and thoughts.

In the area of income, many people are not receiving raises with salaries, yet are being made to pay more to so many things - such as this healthcare issue, food, gas, taxes, and so much more.  So many are already scraping by.  This healthcare issue is causing concern for many who cannot afford the higher payments coming.

There's more, but I'll stop.  Great question, by the way!
