Off-Topic / Re: whats the weather like in your area?

In New Jersey, the past 3 days have been nothing but beautiful! It's been about 78 degrees or so, little humidity, and bright blue skies! Before this lovely weather, it was extremly hot, with highs in the 90s and humidity levels rising. It was sticky and yucky out! I don't think this weather is going to last though, tomorrow it's supposed to get up into the 80s again!!!  :BangHead:

Off-Topic / Re: Do you handwash your car or take it out to a carwash?
« on: September 04, 2010, 07:57:47 pm »Message ID: 232506
I always hand wash my car. I feel that it gets a better cleaning than if I took it somewhere. It takes me about 3 hours to fully clean my car, inside and out. But when I'm done, I love to sit in the driver's seat and smell the cleanliness that surrounds my nasal passages! When I clean the car, I have to make sure that every visible part of the car is clean. I clean every window with glass cleaner, clean all the controls and dashboard, and vacuum every part of the interior. I think it's mostly my OCD, but it's totally worth it.

Off-Topic / Re: What is your favorite Dog Breed?

Well, if I had to pick only one breed, I'd have to say Pug. I love their little smooshed faces!  ;D I hear they are very loyal as well. My other top breeds are Maltese, which my parents have 2 of and they are just so small and precious, and the American Bulldog.

Well, I had to work today so my Saturday was shot, but Sunday I'm heading down to the beach to meet up with some friends and then Monday I plan on just relaxing and enjoying my day off.

Maybe the Mayans just didn't feel like going any further with their calender, it's not like they were going to be around for that long! Maybe one day, they were just...."I'm done with this. I'm tired, and I want to sleep and I won't even be alive at this point so there's no sense in me wasting my time with it." Or maybe they ran out of slate to etch the calender on or whatever they used. Wasn't the world supposed to end in 2000? When the computers couldn't compute the change from 99 to 00?? Well, I'm still here 10 years later and believe that in 2022, I'll say the same thing about this whole "end-of-the-world" stuff that's going on today.  :icon_rr:

Off-Topic / Re: Do u like swimming?
« on: September 03, 2010, 07:48:41 pm »Message ID: 232035
I do like swimming for the most part. The only part I don't like is getting into the usually cold water. Sometimes, I just jump in and get it over with. Other times, I gotta go in one toe at a time, it takes like twenty minutes for me to get my whole body in the water. When I was younger, I wanted to be an olympic swimmer. But like most childhood dreams, it didn't happen. Sometimes though, when I'm swimming, I like to do crazy-fast backstrokes, breaststrokes, etc. and pretend I made it to the final round for the Gold medal!

My dreams are so crazy sometimes! I've had dreams about a lot of things.....most of them involving the everyday people in my life. But, occassionally, I do have that one dream, with that one celebrity that I got the major hots for, and I wake up right before we kiss, and it's like...."NO NO NO!! GO BACK TO SLEEP AND CONTINUE!". But it never does continue, never does.  :BangHead:

Debate & Discuss / Re: Aliens

I believe in aliens. I don't believe, however, they are these little green men with huge heads and black eyes. If anything, I believe they would look similiar to our human race. There has been much research into what might have existed on dead planets, such as Mars. They have found signs that bacteria at one point thrived on the planet, so obviously, there was something there. Is it possible that life had been obliterated on that planet? Or.....is it possible that those microscopic organisms are the beginning of new life?? I don't think we will ever know, but I definitly believe that this universe is just way too big for there to be nothing else within it besides us.

Off-Topic / Re: Who do you like better, Pizza Hut or Papa John's pizza?

Papa John's by far! The sauce is much thicker, and seasoned much better. The dough is soooo fresh and chewy, and never burnt! They also give you dipping sauces for the crust and breadsticks. Mmmmm......just thinking about it makes me hungry!!

Off-Topic / Favorite School Subject
« on: September 02, 2010, 08:27:12 pm »Message ID: 231489
Ok so I know that most of us on here are all grown adults, but thinking back to your elementary days, what would you say your favorite school subject was? I'd have to say my favorite was, and still is, Science. I love the intriguing facts and experiments that the subject encompasses. If I wasn't going to college for my degree in Criminal Justice, I'd definitly major in some sort of science, probably Physics. What about you?

I am still in shock over the fact that August is over..... :'( It's like it just flew by! Faster than June and July! While I do enjoy the summer months, I have to say that Autumn is my favorite season. I can't wait for the turning of the leaves and the days when you can wear short sleeves, but the nights were you have to wear long sleeves. Also, since I am a nerd.....I also find myself anticipating the upcoming semester at the university I attend.

Off-Topic / Re: What is your favorite Holiday??
« on: September 02, 2010, 08:18:59 pm »Message ID: 231483
I love Christmas! I have always loved it and even as an adult, often find myself feeling like a child when the Christmas season is upon me. I grew up in a family of five. My mom, dad, and my two older sisters. My mom always told me that the Christmas season officially started when Santa Clause came through in his sleigh at the Thanksgiving Day Parade. As soon as the parade was over, I'd beg her to get the holiday music cassette tapes out for me. Shortly after that, about a week or so, I'd beg her and my dad to allow me to decorate the house with all the great decorations we had. Finally, when Christmas Day rolled around, I'd be the first one up in the house. I shared a room with my one sister, and always woke her up first, than ran across the hall to my other sister's room to wake her up. Then it was downstairs to wake up the parents and open gifts! I hope when I have children they can experience the magic of Christmas the same way I did!  :angel11:

I would definitly choose the ability to teleport. I think it would be awesome to be able to jump from one place to another in a matter of seconds. I would use it for the betterment of mankind. I'd teleport to places where danger lurks, keep my eyes alert for any signs of crime. When the time is right.....BAM! A whack on the head oughta teach that mugger a lesson or two. Before he can even turn around, I'm gone...... ???

I'm 24 and married and I wouldn't mind having a child at this point in my life. However, my husband thinks we should wait a few years....5 years to be exact. He says that at that point, we will both be mentally and financially ready. I don't know about him, but I consider myself ready in both aspects. Who knows though? Having children isn't always a planned project if you know what I mean!  :dontknow:

Off-Topic / Re: What do you think about driving and texting?
« on: September 01, 2010, 09:39:34 pm »Message ID: 230787
Texting while driving should be a crime punishable by jail time! I know it sounds rather harsh, but think about it. A nice, family of four driving down the road, minding their own business. A mother, father, son and daughter. Then you've got your compulsive texter, who doesn't have any regard for anyone else on the road. While trying to text, this driver loses control of the car and winds up hitting the family of four, resulting in a fatal accident. It could of all been avoided if the texter would just put down the phone. Maybe if we make the punishment more severe, people will think twice before texting while driving.
