Off-Topic / The Assassination of President Kennedy
« on: November 14, 2013, 06:20:11 pm »Message ID: 818228
I am watching The Assassination of President Kennedy on CNN.  Do you remember where you were, if you were born before then, when that happened?  I was working in Richmond, VA, at the old Virginia State Library, and my husband called me and told me.  At the time, I thought it was so outrageous, I believed it was a joke or a hoax that someone started.

World of CAPTCHAs, that is.  I have cashed out for last month, meaning I will be paid in October.  I have decided to write a log of my attempts to solve CAPTCHAs for RL, Paid Clicks, and Daily Cash emails.  If I continue having problems, I will quit at the end of October after I am paid for my August Cashout.  I don't expect to get the $3 forum bonus, because this log will probably not qualify.  Continuing to try to work with this is just too stressful.

Day 1:  1 RL (could not guess anymore), 2 videos
Could not solve 2 cent DLE, tried several times
            No FC surveys available

I have been trying to solve the puzzle for the 15 cent clicks for the past 15 minutes.  I have gone completely through at least 30, so now I am past irritated, I am MAD.  Why do we have to solve these things in the first place to get the reward we have already earned?  I HAVE HAD IT!  I'm going to try to earn enough some other way, cash out, and then quit this site.  I really liked the new look, but actually getting anywhere is horrendous.

Off-Topic / Solve Media Puzzle Challenge
« on: August 13, 2013, 05:56:13 pm »Message ID: 780222
I thought about posting this under Support, but I don't think they can do anything about it.  I'm just wondering if anyone else has the problem with it that I do.  I like it when the puzzles are the answers to an advertisement's slogan, the words are in a wavy design across the page, or something one can actually read.  The Solve Media Puzzle Challenge looks like a child's painting or a modern abstract painting.  Since they have been back on Fusion Cash for the past few weeks, they are so difficult for me to read.  (I'm not sure everyone gets the same kinds of puzzles at the same time.)  Sometimes I try 10-20 puzzles before I get it right.  It is so frustrating, I am on the point of tears.  I don't have a problem with my vision.  I have a problem trying to figure out the squiggly lines.  Anyone else?

I like to check out Survey Police once in a while to keep up with the best survey spots. Do any of you use it?

Off-Topic / Strange Fads
« on: June 22, 2013, 07:03:00 pm »Message ID: 754794
The other day I saw a segment on a news show about the newest (and most disgusting) fad that has started - eyeball licking.  It seems this fad started in Japan, where it is supposed to be an act of affection, like kissing.  Before you try it, the doctor on the show stressed this is a very dangerous practice.  There are innumerable bacteria in the mouth which can cause infection in the eyeball (very serious and painful).  Of course, I wondered why you would not get this bacteria from kissing, but I guess in that case you are just trading bacteria.  :)   Seriously, the eye is very sensitive, and I don't believe anyone would want to lose theirs.  If you saw the pictures of people after trying this, you would probably think twice.

My husband and I just got back from visiting my niece.  She is 45 years old.  She has a husband, two grown children, and one grandchild.  She was diagnosed with Stage 3.5 of a fast growing form of lung cancer three months ago.  About a month ago, the cancer was changed to Stage 4.  She is now in end stage with just days to maybe weeks left.  She cannot speak above a whisper and that is hard to understand.  I know how hard it is to quit.  My husband and I used to smoke.  We stopped several years ago.  If you are a smoker, please do yourself a big favor.

Off-Topic / Mystery Symptom
« on: April 04, 2013, 08:22:59 pm »Message ID: 716215
For the past several months, I have experienced a feeling of something cold and wet on my leg, mostly my right one.  When I go to brush or wipe it off, it is not wet at all.  I thought I may be losing my mind - I have never heard of anything like this before.  I went to Google and learned, to my surprise, that there are other people with this symptom.  I am going to bring this up to my doctor soon.  I have so much going on, I hate to keep going back to the doctor between appointments, but I guess I should.  Have any of you ever had this sensation?

Off-Topic / Untrue Legends About George Washington
« on: February 18, 2013, 06:00:26 pm »Message ID: 690058
I watched a special about George Washington on NatGeo.  I was fascinated to learn many of the things we learned about him was false.  For instance:
Washington did not chop down a cherry tree.  Actually, the program presented the fact that he probably did not say "I cannot tell a lie."  Washington did tell many lies during the Revolutionary War for the good of this country.  It was one of his methods of waging war.
Washington did not wooden teeth. - He had many sets of false teeth made of animal teeth and human teeth.
The most seen image of Washington today is not how he really looked.  Computerized images of him made from his skull show a much more handsome man.
Washington did not throw a silver dollar across the Potomac River.

A little over a year ago, my daughter, son-in-law, and grandson moved from Raleigh, NC, next door to her father and me in Central VA.  We were elated.  Now they are moving back, not because they want to but because someone on the inside hacked into the personnel files of the company where my son-in-law works.   He was working remotely here and was doing very well.  Now Chris has to move back to be able to work at the main office because they are not allowing remote workers now.  I am upset and greatly disappointed.  It took a great deal to get a place near us, and now that is all in an upheaval.  It takes 4 hours to get to Raleigh from where we live, and I can't travel as well as I did.  The person who did the hacking was caught, but people who do things like this do not realize the extent of the damage and hurt they cause.  It is much more than just a game.  I am supremely disappointed.

1.  LESS and FEWER

Although you may not realize it, grocery stores have been using the wrong word at the checkout for many years.  When you see a sign saying 20 or 10 Items Or Less, that is incorrect.

"Less is used when comparing quantities that can’t be counted; for example, “I’d like less milk.” If you’re comparing quantities (like bagels, for example) then “fewer” should be used."

To be continued.......

I understand the reason for the media puzzle, but why does it have to be so EXTREMELY difficult?  Today, I went through 20 or more before being able to solve the puzzle?  Could you use a slightly more readable puzzle?

Off-Topic / Heroes
« on: December 02, 2012, 06:57:47 pm »Message ID: 651079
I just saw a new topic on the forum which went something like "What would you wish for?".  Right now, I am watching CNN Heroes, and my wish would be that I would be able to do something significant for a group of people on this planet who needs it.  Their heroes so far have included a Middle-Eastern woman who built and runs a school for girls who so far were not permitted to go to school, a woman who started a program for kids who are responsible for caring for one of their own siblings, and a former alcoholic who started a program for addicts and is reaching many of them to help them become free of their addictions.  There are so many places in the world that need help it seems overwhelming.  But each of these heroes says any person added to the list of helpers can help reach that many more people.  The joy of the children who live in filth every day and have no one but themselves that is seen in their faces when they get a little food to eat.  I helped with organizations when I was younger, but now my arthritis keeps me from doing a lot except to challenge people to help others.  Call it what you want - paying it forward or the Christmas spirit - you may not realize how much giving just a little can make a difference.

Off-Topic / Green Coffee Bean Diet Supplement
« on: September 24, 2012, 07:41:49 pm »Message ID: 610442
I have seen some advertising recently about a green coffee bean diet pill that is supposedly endorsed by Dr. Oz.  I do not watch Dr. Oz, so I have not actually seen him endorse the product.  Has anyone here tried it and with what results?
