Debate & Discuss / Do you go over-board buying gifts for children at Christmas?
« on: December 09, 2013, 01:24:57 pm »Message ID: 827280
I have never been one to go to the extremes at Christmas on my children. I do not understand why people will go into debt  buying presents for kids at Christmas. I would get my kids one really nice gift and then get them some clothes. etc. I know people who will max out their credit cards and get pay-day loans just for Christmas. Then it will take them a whole year, struggling just to get the bills paid off. I feel that the message of what Christmas is all about has gotten lost and it really makes me sad.  Jesus is the reason for the season! :peace:

Off-Topic / Have any of you heard about "Exodus from Hunger?".

As you may know the government has passed a stimulus plan again this year to help boost the ecomony. Although this is wonderful, actually only the few really benefit from it. Legislature is trying to focus more on the "working Poor". Example; A young mother who works @ Applebees for 8.00ph. is not able to meet all of obligations towards running her household bills, less and less money is available for food. All the churches and food banks serve only about 1% of those in need. The stimulus package that the Legislature is trying to revise will look out after the working poor. There will be tax breaks available for everyone not just those that don't really need it. When given a chance, voice your opinion about the stimulus package. Lets all pull together and let the government know how we all feel about children going to bed at night hungry in this wonderful country called "Land of Oportunity". :peace:

Debate & Discuss / Do any of you have a habit that others may find annoying ?
« on: November 05, 2010, 12:43:10 pm »Message ID: 264873
:-[ I am told that I have an annoying habit of being too clean. I admit that I am really *bleep* about my house. My brother doesn't like to come over because he says that he can't get comfortable because "the house is too clean".
Imagine that!! Ha! Ha!

Off-Topic / Holiday Traditions past down through your family?
« on: November 04, 2010, 11:13:47 am »Message ID: 264220
As far back as I can remember, my parents always insisted that before we could open presents on Christmas morning we had to listen to the story of the birth of Jesus. My father always thought that it was good for us to remember "The reason for the season". It has always been the oldest male in the family that held the honor of reading on Christmas morning. This year the honor will go to my oldest son and he is excited to hold on to this tradition. :peace:
