Pecan pies are my absolute favorite. My family usually only has then on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Man you have me ready for the holidays. My grandma hasn't shared her secret recipe with me yet. I may have to try this one until then:

Whoever he is: Thanks for the service and fighting for my freedom.
I have a close friend in Germany right now awaiting orders, and I am a nervous wreck. I cannot begin to imagine 10 years of worrying (although I'm sure I'll find out). Finishing education is a great route to go!

There are two foods that I just cannot stand. Even the smells make my stomach turn. 1) Ranch dressing! (I know, how un-American of me). 2) Pickles!

Debate & Discuss / Re: Is there a difference between "doing what you love" and "loving what you do?"
« on: September 24, 2014, 03:04:43 pm »Message ID: 920723
I see it as a time and place issue. If I'm doing what I love, it is in that particular moment in time, that specific task. If I'm loving what I do, it's in a general sense of loving my job, life, whatever. Currently, I'm loving what I do (my life in a broad sense), but I need do what I love (a specific job with accounting/numbers/problem solving).

Hitch,

I agree that certain situations are more prone to bad outcomes (like war and the lightning you described). However, how do we know that God didn't have that particular ending in place for us? Maybe He planned for us to survive Vietnam and later be shot at home. My view is that we have choices all throughout life, so that our path branches out in billions of possible paths, but that eventually we end up in the one spot that God intended. So maybe we don't know what the specific reason is for that car accident at the time, but eventually it leads us to where we are meant to be. Just my take!

Debate & Discuss / Re: American Scientific Illiteracy

My husband and I were just talking about this the other day. It's disturbing how uneducated our country is, whether science related or not. I guess the easy access to crap information (for lack of a better description) ruins actual learning and knowledge consumption. Is technology to blame? Parents? I don't know. But I do know that when I have kids, proper education will be a huge focus!

MH...many use the quote to make it seem God is manipulating...or theres a pre-destiny.Planned life etc.

Hardly the case.

Eccl 8: 9 read Time and unforseen occurrence befalls everyone.

IOW...wrong place at wrong time happens to all of us.

Interesting take for sure. I am not sure how unforeseen occurrences has anything to do with that text. Care to elaborate?

I guess it is all about the target market. I can't say I agree with it, but I understand from a business standpoint.

Because then i get a chance to really show how silly it is and what it really means behind the thought process of those using it!!

What do you mean by that? Just that you don't agree with the quote?

Overall I like basketball more. I love watching high school and college level, but despise NBA because I do not think it's real basketball how it's meant to be played. As for football, I like watching the NFL and get obsessed with fantasy football.
