Survivor, Criminal Minds, Grey's Anatomy (maybe, not sure how it'll be with so many main characters gone now), American Horror Story, and Big Bang Theory are some old favorites. Really looking forward to How to Get Away with Murder, Red Band Society, and Bad Judge.

My favorite quote is by Steve Prefontaine: "To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift." I love it because it's a great source of inspiration to give your 100% best at everything you do.

Debate & Discuss / Re: Life Can Be Tragic

Life is tragic and hard at times, but all we can do is keep moving forward. We have to keep living our lives as happily as we can! Take time to grieve, then find something that makes your life worth living. Pray about the bad and trust in God's plan.

I have pretty much weened off coffee. But when I drank it, I liked to add milk and sugar. I do still enjoy iced coffee drinks like mocha frappucinos or monster coffee energy drinks.

Debate & Discuss / Re: What to say if…

1. I would say birthdays should be addressed in the timezone of whose birthday it is. Holidays that apply to both people should be addressed both times. I have a friend in Germany, so we call/text at midnight here and at midnight in Germany. It's fun to do it for both parties.

2. Don't get me started on the Merry Christmas thing. I am so sick of having to be "politically correct" and "open-minded". I grew up saying Merry Christmas and I will continue to do so. I don't feel like that's forcing my Christianity on anybody. I have to hear about Hanukkah even though I don't partake in that holiday and it doesn't hurt my feelings.

Debate & Discuss / Re: Loan
« on: September 15, 2014, 10:31:48 am »Message ID: 917970
It all depends on the type, cost, and need of the loan in question. My husband and I currently have a loan out on our house. It is very plausible that we will move sometime in the future and take out another loan. We pay all of our credit card debt each month to avoid the loan interest there. And we have one truck payment. We are going to try and get it paid off, and not take out another loan there. I am currently in grad school and have avoided student loans so far. But, I may have to take them out next semester. Definitely want to avoid having more of those. I think it just depends on your specific situation.

Debate & Discuss / Re: Do You Know Anyone Who Is An "Extreme" Hoarder?
« on: September 15, 2014, 10:26:20 am »Message ID: 917967
One of my mom's friends is a hoarder. I won't label her as extreme yet, but she's well on her way. She was a travel agent back in the 80's and has kept every single brochure she used while working. She keeps every single magazine or newspaper she has delivered. She is scared of throwing away some article or recipe or tidbit if information she may need later. It's funny because this stuff is all highly organized and kept in perfect condition in the garage, but she refuses to dust and clean her house.

Debate & Discuss / Re: Is the Current 'Minimum-Wage' High Enough?
« on: September 15, 2014, 10:23:57 am »Message ID: 917966
This is an issue that is debated even in the economic theory world. I don't think there is one right answer. Too many factors like price ceilings/floors, inflation, taxes, etc. are in play. Basically, our economy is in a disastrous state and raising or lowering the minimum wage alone will not fix it. The rate is there to keep employers from cheating employees out of fair pay. It is not meant to be enough to survive on in the long term (in my opinion). The important thing to remember is some pay is better than no pay!

Debate & Discuss / Re: big brother listening
« on: June 23, 2013, 08:51:18 pm »Message ID: 755206
I did not say I have lost freedoms, I just fear the country is headed down a path where some will be taken away. Maybe it is paranoia, but it is a real fear I have. And no, I do not think they are listening to me specifically. Even if they did, the only thing of interest would be me bashing Obama and his policies and hoping to God the country does not get run completely down the crapper. It is simply a matter of personal freedoms. I am just scared of what is to come.

I assume you mean allow women's suffrage, because ending it would mean women not voting. If I recall, Lincoln ended slavery and he was a Republican, which is much closer to conservative views than liberal ones. As for the founding fathers, they were not liberals nor conservatives. Their ultimate goal was to create a country where the people were not ruled over by a king or dictating government, but ruled by the people and for the people. People should be able to live their own lives, how they thought it should be lived. The Articles of Confederation was the first choice to be America's founding document, which showed just how much they wanted a small federal government and bigger state governments, which is today's conservative view. As for conservatives trying to hold the country back, this may have something to do with the fact that we are trillions in debt. The government cannot afford to save everyone who does not wish to help themselves, especially with others' tax money. In my opinion, the founding fathers wished the people of America to be able to fend for themselves, without mountains and mountains of governmental aid. The bigger the government gets and tries to make us depend on them and depend on others help instead of our own, the closer we get to becoming a country of socialism. I suppose that is my biggest fear. That one day, I will be working my butt off to support everyone else in this place. Maybe that makes me selfish, but so be it. I understand that many people need help, but far too many take advantage and it scares me to death.

Yes, that part of the movie is poking fun at reverse discrimination. If I remember correctly, as soon as Miles takes the blame, then the issue is dropped because he is black. People are too afraid to punish the black man because of the threat discrimination.

I believe the only offers you can do more than once are the daily tasks on CrowdFlower and sometimes the daily videos. I have not seen any other offers work more than the initial time you get credited.

Debate & Discuss / Re: If you had control over economics what kind of system would you create
« on: June 22, 2013, 06:21:14 pm »Message ID: 754777
Free Market Capitalism is the best way to go. As long as people work hard and abide by the rules, everyone will survive and survive quite well. The issue is that too many people take advantage of the system that we currently have in place. While some people do need help at different points in their lives, the amount we constantly give is ridiculous. However, if followed and done correctly, capitalism is better than communism, feudalism, and mainly socialism. I read this about an example of socialism: http://danieljmitchell.wordpress.com/2011/11/16/does-socialism-work-a-classroom-experiment/ Makes you think!

Obviously taxes have to be in place for a government to survive, but they should be an equal percentage for everyone. Progressive systems only lead to people trying to work over the system. A flat tax system will allow the economy to prosper. I thought the 9-9-9 plan would be a decent attempt at getting this country back on track.
