Debate & Discuss / Re: Son stealing

I feel like it is right to press charges. It is probably the only way to get through to the kid. Because there has already been a falling out, there is probably some deep issues going on that the family needs to work out. Sometimes a giant push is needed to make someone see how wrong they are living their life.

Debate & Discuss / Re: smoking
« on: June 22, 2013, 05:58:47 pm »Message ID: 754773
I do not think people should smoke in restaurants. But I think this should be out of respect for those around them, not by governmental force. If a business is privately owned, it should be up to that individual to determine whether or not the patrons should be allowed to smoke. It should be up to him to determine if he wants to make it a smokey place or a smoke-free establishment. I think it would have more business if no smoking was allowed, but it should be the owner's preference.

I smoked in high school and off and on for a few years after, but mostly just socially. At times, a certain smell will make me want one again, but I haven't smoked in a long time, probably 7 years, and won't ever again. I have a granddad on one side and a grandmother on the other who can't go much more than an hour without a cigarette. I just do not want to ever be that addicted.

Just because records from phone and internet companies are stored for business purposes does not give the government the right to look at them for whatever reason they see fit.

actually it does and you gave them permission to do it. it is in the service contract you signed. the companies have to give access to all records the government asks for if they have a warrant, which they got. why is this a shock to everyone, it was not a secret. we have know for years. i watched a 2008 episode of ncis where they talking about their access to cell and data records. at least the president is following the law, which is aviable to anyone who wants to look it up. it is not a crime just because you are not paying attention.

My point is that the government should not have gotten that warrant in the first place. They should not have that right. Nothing more, nothing less. I'm not saying it is a crime, but it should be. We are still a country founded on freedom, and the bigger the government gets, the more that seems to be forgotten.

I know we will never agree on political things joker. Even in the past when I posted and debated almost everyday, we never did. It is blatantly obvious that you are a liberal for big government and I am a conservative very much against it.

someone explain what "reverse racism" is.

Reverse racism occurs when laws that are supposed to help minorities, actually discriminate against the majority, in essence becoming racism in its own right. It really shouldn't be a term because racism is racism, regardless of who it is against. One example is when businesses have set quotas on how many people of any given race have to be employed. If they have to have a set percentage of let's say Hispanics, then all Caucasians, African Americans, Asians, etc. have no chance at the job. That is discrimination. Another example is when colleges and universities feel they have to admit a certain percentage of minorities, so they do not even give the majority a chance. The list goes on, but that is reverse racism in a nutshell. As I said, it really should be included under all racism and discrimination, instead of being defined as "reverse".

Debate & Discuss / Re: Paula Dean

I just read about this and was about to start a thread. Read here, this is the story I saw: http://www.today.com/money/could-paula-deens-words-hurt-her-cooking-empire-6C10411780

If this is truly the reason she was dropped from Food Network, something is very very wrong. Of course she uses the N word in the past, she grew up among segregation. Most every white in the South used that word. Seems fishy to me, there is no reason that should warrant not renewing the contract. Maybe there are other reasons, but if so, this story should not be such a huge deal. I just don't understand it!

Oh my, I despise both of them so much. I cannot stand either one. I turn it off or change the channel or do anything I can to avoid them. How that stupid stuff makes people popular I will never understand.

Off-Topic / Re: Parents and Violent Video Games
« on: June 14, 2013, 02:09:22 pm »Message ID: 751571
I think it depends on the age of the children and just how graphic the video game is. You just need to research the game and determine what your own personal limits are. I know as a kid, I could not play any type of violent shooting or fighting game until I was in junior high, age 13 I think. Whatever you decide, I think it is most important to limit a child's time playing any sort of video game. Kids these days depend so much on technology, it is ridiculous. I just want to tell kids to get outside and play, just enjoy being a kid!

I have a very hard time finding coupons for clothing stores. I find it's best to wait until they offer clearance or other major sales events and get all you can then. JCPenny has cheaper stuff to begin with, so when they do have sales it is really great. I buy my husband all sorts of nice dressier clothes there.

Thanks so much for such an amazing answer as to how you get so much money on the tasks. From what I can tell, it just takes patience and time put in to make money with them. Good to know that refreshing the page can give you more options. I will try to get into a routine and make even more money that way.

James Patterson is my absolute favorite, but some others I enjoy are Agatha Christie, Mary Higgins Clark, and Dan Brown. The mystery genre is my favorite to read, I could just fly through series day in and day out if I had the time.

I have not been to every state, but right around half. Of those I have been to, Texas is my favorite hands down. There is a pride about the state that others just do not have. People are kinder, there is a wide array of people and lifestyles, and good values are still taught. I love it!

Just because records from phone and internet companies are stored for business purposes does not give the government the right to look at them for whatever reason they see fit. It's complete  :bs:. I wish more people cared enough to let their voices be heard on issues like this. We need to elect people to Congressional and Presidential positions that want to get America back on track, the way the Founding Fathers intended for it to be. Not a government entity trying to rule the whole country, but a country for peoples' freedom.
