Off-Topic / Have you read the Dragon Tattoo books?

I belong to a book club and a member brought in the first two books and asked if anybody wanted them.  I had never heard of them, but took them home and started reading them.  The next day one of my daughters called me and asked if I had them as they were going around her office and everybody loved them.  She had managed to borrow the third one, so we traded when I finished the first two.  They are on the best seller list and it seems tons of people are talking about them.  They are translated from Swedish and are good books.  I hated to finish the third one as I knew it was the end, but I also couldn't wait to finish it to find out the end.  The author died after delivering the three books to the publisher.

We either play 500 or Hand and Foot.  In case you have never heard of Hand and Foot, it is somewhat like Canasta.  We like to get three tables - 12 of us - and then switch off partners after each hand.  We are cheapies, so everybody puts in a dollar and winner gets something and then big loser gets something.

I would like to travel more to foreigh countries.  I have never been to Europe. I don't know if this will happen.

I would also like to get my house completely organized.  I am not sure that will happen either as I am a pack rat - but nothing like The Hoarders.

Off-Topic / Who taught you how to cook?

My mother did not work outside of the home so she did all the cooking.  I never cooked until I got married.  As to who taught me how to cook?  It was Betty Crocker and her cookbook.  I even learned how to bake bread from the cookbook.  Most things were a success except for the first gravy I made after cooking chicken.  It was not gravy, it was more like school paste.
