Off-Topic / Re: smoke breaks!!
« on: October 21, 2011, 06:54:26 pm »Message ID: 435458
When I worked for the state of TN, the smokers in our department could go out for a smoke whenever they felt like it (and they did, usually every other hour).  But if you weren't going out on a "smoke break", you better not leave your cubicle unless you have papers in your hand...

It does happen in some places; in others, it's the smokers who get the raw end of the deal.  Just depends on where you are.

WOW....That does not seem fair at all.  =(

I am alot older than you and I have been waiting.  Ever since I read the books I have waited for the last movie to be filmed.

Don't feel so bad...I am a lot older too and I love the books and movies.  I feel like a teenager again waiting for a rock concert.  lol

I talk to myself when someone pisses me off.  It's better to talk to myself than to "throw down" in front of my kids.  lol

Off-Topic / How do you teach your kids right from wrong?
« on: October 20, 2011, 06:45:33 pm »Message ID: 435123
I try to teach my kids right from wrong by example.  If they see me doing something that is unethical or wrong, then they are more likely to do it themselves because they think..."Mommy's doing it, it must be o.k.".  I have even went as far as going back into a store and paying for an item that my son had in his hand (and I forgot he did) and I didn't pay for it.  I told my daughter..."That would be stealing".   I only hope I am raising my children to become "good future citizens".   ;D

I love all kinds of pets but unfortunately, I had to give my Shih-Tzu to my mom because my daughter is allergic to anything with fur. My dog is happy because my mom spoiles her but I am sad that I cannot have any pets.

I also do little deeds like holding the door for somone, and simply just saying thank you.  That also goes a long way.   It makes me believe that there are still kind people in the world.  When I was living in Kentucky, I fell in front of Wal-Mart and NOT one person offered to help me up. I sat there for over 8 minutes because I was in pain and could not help myself up.  Finally, a worker came outside and helped me up.  That said a lot to me and I would NEVER walk past someone (pregnant or not) if they were on the ground.  Unfortunately, I had my son 3 weeks early because of that fall and he ended up in the NICU for over a week.
I will even go as far as helping old people put groceries in their car and because of my kind deeds, my kids want to help people too now.  It starts at home!  :)

I'm really looking forward to the movie.  I've read all the books and this will be the first one that I've seen in the theater.  I like Edward.  It will be interesting to see how they do the birth of there daughter.

OMG....You have to see the other movies...They are so great. However, there is so much more information in the books.  I have read all the books also.   :)

Off-Topic / Re: how to get my kid asleep at bed time?
« on: October 19, 2011, 06:07:11 pm »Message ID: 434624
the best thing to do is to start a bedtime routine. he is gonna cry your ears off but after a while he should get used to the routine and little by little his crying fits won't be as long and soon he will be used to going to sleep.
I agree completely!!!  You need a routine or a system and always follow through with it.  After a week or two, or even a month, your kids will just know..."Hey, it's time for bed and my carrying on is getting me no where".  I'm not saying it will be easy, because it's not but it does pay off. My daughter don't even fight with me anymore. She justs gets up, kisses us goodnight and goes to bed.  The hardest thing was getting her out of my bed.  lol........That was a year long battle, but WE WON!

It is usually 2 cups a day but it can be more. However, I try to keep it at two cups only. Anymore than that, I cannot function properly. lol

I spend a ton on groceries.  I think I need to do "extreme couponing" and only buy items that I have a coupon for.  It's getting way to expensive and like someone else said....our pay didn't go up.   :crybaby2:
