Off-Topic / If you could offer a newborn child only one piece of advice, what would it be?
« on: October 23, 2011, 10:57:37 am »Message ID: 436126
We all make mistakes every single day. No one is flawless in this world. No one has yet been bestowed with the gift of making no mistakes. Mistakes can help you grow as a person when they are not repeated once again knowingly. So learn from your mistakes, don't repeat them and move on.

What advice would you guys give a newborn child?

Off-Topic / Re: New quote

Here's one I saw recently that I like: "No man needs sympathy because he has to work, because he has a burden to carry. Far and away the best prize that life offers is the chance to work hard at work worth doing." (bonus points if you can figure out who said it)

Theodore Roosevelt

Another quote I like from him:

“To educate a person in the mind but not in morals is to educate a menace to society.”

This is another good one:

“To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.”

By Ralph Waldo Emerson

Off-Topic / Re: Would you rather be rich or healthy?
« on: October 22, 2011, 04:43:07 pm »Message ID: 435779
Nobody is going to live forever. Even the people who eat healthy foods exclusively are going to die. A person can use the money from being rich to enjoy life as much as they can. If they want to travel, they can do so, and if they do not want the money going to greedy relatives, they can create a will.

I would choose to be somewhere in the middle.

Articx, I agree completely with you that nobody is going to live forever but if you are not healthy and you are rich you are not going to enjoy that money at all.

If I had to choose between being healthy or being rich I'd rather be healthy. If you are healthy you have everything in your hands because with health you can enjoy life and you can always go out and earn all the money you need. If you are rich but not healthy, you can't enjoy your money so it does you no good. All you will accomplish is leaving it to unappreciative relatives who will waste it in god knows what after you're gone and I ain't saying all relatives are like that but let's be serious for the most part money changes a whole lot of people.

What do you guys think?

I love to read! I can read just about anything from reality to fiction but my favorite reading material is mystery novels. Reading is a way to escape the day to day hazzles of reality. It gives your mind a chance to travel to distant places.

Nesha if I could run off to any fantasy place and leave this world full of stress, debts, responsibilties and the day to day hassles of a job I would definately go to Neverland where I won't have to grow up and face the responsibilities of a family, job and any stressful situations that we as adults face on daily basis, but as my mom always told us can't stay young forever you have to gow up someday.

I am definately going to see this movie. I read all books, saw all the movies so far and loved all of them even thought the books contain much more information than the movies. I am really excited about this one. Me and my daughter will be heading out to see it together.

I think every child develop differently. My oldest now 15 was 7 months when he started pulling himself up and started walking at 8 months. My middle child now 12 started pulling herself up at 7 months also and walking by 8 months and my baby who is 8 months now started pulling himself up at 5 months and started walking aroung his crib. He now explores the whole house.
