Off-Topic / Re: How many phones are in your home?
« on: September 12, 2019, 02:29:57 pm »Message ID: 1292627
We did away with out  land line years ago. It is just so much easier having cell phones.  With just the 2 of us we find it is the best way to stay in contact with each other and family.  My father can get one or both of us easier now.  When we had  a land line  we wouldn't know who called until we came home. And with both of us with busy lives it is just a better way of life.

I had been outside working in the yard and had decided to take a break and turned on the TV. When the first plane hit the tower, ran out and  called my husband  to come in the house he arrived just as the second one hit.  I felt so bad for all  who lost their lives , not just the ones in the towers, the planes  but those who were on the ground fighting to save as many lives as they  could.

Off-Topic / Re: People who blow horns
« on: September 07, 2019, 03:17:08 pm »Message ID: 1291906
I  don't have anyone who  pulls up and starts  blowing their horn. Either get out and come to the door or call me, or nowadays text me to let me know your  outside. My  family knows better. It was funny when I started dating and if  a boy  was to  blow his horn, my dad would go out and talk to him. The  young man would get out of his car and  come to the door, then mother would answer the door and tell him he was early and he would  have to wait until I was  ready.  I was always ready, but  they  (mom and  dad) were teeming up to teach  him manners.  Sometimes I got the giggles but. It worked they would not blow the horn anymore.

I like to do  both. Text a lot. But then I get  lonesome and want to hear  my daughter-in-laws voice or my longtime  friends. Then  comes a phone  call.. But to  just text simple messages it is great.  Love this new  smartphone. I have about 30 telemarketers blocked and I never have to hear them again. It was getting tiresome.   a lot of them calling  for handouts. I pick and choose whom I donate to.

I am so ready for  cool weather. It seems like this  past two and half months it is  so darn hot.  Mostly  high 90's to  triple digit weather.  It will get  somewhat cold this winter.  But you want hear me gripe as much about it. Because I never wore a coat  last year. Just a heavy sweater.  And volunteering  down at the ministry it was so much easier because it was not  so blooming hot. Even with 3 ACS going it was hot. My little grocery area is sandwiched in between the back work  room and the  front with clothing and I get  very little  cool air. Sweat like  crazy.  Oh well doing what the  Lord wants me to do.

We're  thinking about it. Not so much here but out at my dads place.  His electricity  goes off more then ours  does, since he is on a rural electric company.  Here in the city  our town has big backup generators to keep the  electric  going.  I mean they are huge. But  a bond was passed and  they  bought them. They had only to use them once. But  it was sure nice to  have them going. Yep we are a small town/

If  I am going to have a hamburger I and going to have the real thing. I  do not eat  beef  very much, but once in a long  while I will order on. Mostly I eat chicken. But I would rather have an  Arby's brisket slider and that  is plenty of beef for me.

Off-Topic / Re: Move or Renovate?

I would just renovate this one. It is small and easy to care for. We have already done the outside and put on a new roof and all 13 windows are already done.  Now  comes the inside which wouldn't be that bad. First rip up the old carpet. then  clean and paint the wood floor then on goes the  tile and  that is in each room. redo the bathroom and kitchen.  And still have $29,000.00 left over.  Yep that is not  bad.

Some surveys are  really getting weird. And no I would  not know  what to  do with this one.  Just  go on to another one.  It is getting harder and harder to get  good surveys . Although I did do  two today. One for 20 cents and another for 50 cents then did a few  I centers and go to do my paid to click. Lot better then most days.

I thought  it would never go  by. We have had a lot of triple digit weather here. Makes for a rough  summer. If you don't get up and out of the house early in the mornings when it is still cool then you just  don't  get much done. Hubby  went  down a few years ago with a heat stroke and now he  can't tolerate the high heat. And  I  can't beout  in it too much what with the meds I am on. I don't mind getting up early but he hates too. But I can only do so much and theni need help around here.

Well today  is my husbands  birthday.  although he prefers to  forget it. Not going to happen . So far I have not said a word but it is coming when he least expects it.  Besides I am waiting until tomorrow at the Ministry where we volunteer and then the crew will sing  Happy Birthday to him.   He  just thinks I have forgot.

This  is one of those times that the state and Federal  need to get together and   spray the  heck out of them and try to get rid of them before they  spread all over the U.S. But then  how often do you even see  a government   person even wanting to  make a bill  to protect the American public.

I believe in   letting the  children movies  that in their age group.  They don't need to  see and X rated,  If an adult wants to see it then  get a baby sitter or family to take care of the kids.  What with  children watching movies at  the theatre or on  TV that are not rated for their age,  they  will take it as it is alright  to do those things andit is not.

I prefer  Gospel, country and the old time  rock and roll.  I grew on this kink of music. My kids  did  too. As for what they call music now, I don't understand it or if I do on some of it , it is really raunchy nad I  just don'tlikeit and I don't think the children should  get to listen to it.

We tried a couple of the frozen ones and I might say  hubby  did not  care for them.  Nor I.  Way to much salt for me, and the bottoms  of the pies never got  crisp. He prefers the ones we make at home, well I do mostly, He likes a crisp  pie crust on the bottom as well as on top.  So when I make  a couple for us, I usually make several and freeze them. Really comes in handy if we have been out of the house  whole day chopping wood or going out of town. We can come home and pop a couple in the  oven and go on about our business.
