Debate & Discuss / Why Want a 'New King James Version' Shown Parallel with an '(Old) King James V"?
« on: January 31, 2014, 10:48:24 am »Message ID: 845421
I guess the better question would be 'What's the difference between the KJV & the NKJV?'

I mean; I know the NKJV is 'updated' to the newer language-patterns we use (most of) today, but does that really change any important parts of the message anywhere so that you would want to verify them?

Debate & Discuss / How "God" Became "Lord"
« on: January 31, 2014, 10:34:18 am »Message ID: 845418
I know lots of you are probably thinking, "He was ALWAYS 'Lord'!" or some such 'mythicism'---not paying attention to 'the etymology of "lord"' (the breeding of the actual word).

The best I can remember, the deepest root is something-like 'bread-keeper.' And you can see that when God tells Moses WHY He is giving bread to the escaping Hebrews---to see if they will praise HIM as "Lord."

Debate & Discuss / Shouldn't "Work on a TrackDollar.com-Account" Earn 'Credit with the Treasury'?
« on: January 31, 2014, 10:17:56 am »Message ID: 845410
I mean; Think about it! TrackDollar--where a user enters the year & serial-numbers of 'Federal Reserve Notes' he handles, adding a little note about-how he got the money & -where he intends to spend it--tracks the Federal Reserve's "product" ... a useful service once they quit printing new ones and return U.S. Money to a standard of 'something real.'

If I knew who to talk to, I'd offer to 'put in time' doing "data-entry" at a bank (or 'for someone with a large collection of cash'), entering-in all their bills for them! But eventually I--like most people, I'm sure--would want 'payment' for my 'time' (and more payment than just "the knowledge that I'm helping people remain secure about their nation's currency"  ::) )

How can we make this happen?

Debate & Discuss / Who CARES about "Freedom" when You Don't Have Your Bread & Fleshpots?
« on: January 31, 2014, 09:59:50 am »Message ID: 845408
That's sort-of the logic being applied 'by government' (I've got some Bible-thumper friends who would say it's "what Obama is doin` to us") by MAKING us buy insurance---sorta like 'bearing The Mark on your hand or forehead,' as "having insurance" is today's way of saying 'I'm a paid-member of the club, and they'll cover my costs as long as I pay my dues on time.'

(The link goes to a couple times the Hebrews in Exodus complained to Moses: 'Well, we're hungry; shouldn't we rather be well-fed-&-shackled than free-&-hungry?')

And health-care is ONE of the ways the government is 'tempting' us to be that way ... 'Shouldn't you rather be paid-for-&-"shackled" than unpaid-but-free?' And the health-care law ... or nearly ANY insurance-company ... SHACKLES us to the health-care they'll pay-for from the providers they can make deals with ...

better-than making US pay for health-care & find deals with the providers, but That's Freedom  :-\

Debate & Discuss / Real Bible-Study (Guiding Our Thoughts NOW with "Exodus," "Mark" Feb. 6)

The Word of God is a gift ... and 'a gift' is NOTHING BUT GARBAGE until you take it! You do not take the Word until you 'ingest it & educe the product' (I ingest by reading the Bible, and it produces questions in me).

Hopefully it produces 'answers' in the place I am made to 'question,' and you can add those to this "offering to God":

Kind of 'the pattern I'm following lately' is that a) I copy/paste the questions here if I have more than I feel I can do one-at-a-time that day and b) I'll start picking off one or another question, asking it in a new topic, and editing the text here to link to that topic.

Debate & Discuss / So It's a SIN to Wash Your Hands before You Eat?
« on: January 30, 2014, 12:46:55 pm »Message ID: 845024
I hope not, but that's kinda the message Jesus gives when He defends his disciples against the Pharisees' accusation that the eateth with defiledst hands-eth! (where He replies with His 'it's not what goes into a man, but what comes out that defileth')

Yeah Jesus, but what kind of kingdom is it if everybody eats with grubby hands?

I mean---the original is awesome, but I'm too "inconvenient" for her (besides, she's 43 years old; she probably wouldn't go for me unless 1) she goes cruising my Warr Acres/Bethany (Oklahoma) neighborhood's churches for disabled 'pups' & 2) 32 is young enough to count as a 'pup.'

And maybe she does go 'cruising for pups'---the personal-life section of her Wikipedia page doesn't say she doesn't! :bootyshake:

Debate & Discuss / Is the Current 'Minimum-Wage' High Enough?
« on: January 29, 2014, 07:17:50 pm »Message ID: 844790
I say yes, yes it is ... no matter how low it is. If it's below the current cost-of-living, it's THE PRICE-SETTERS who need to adjust!  :moneymouth:

(added Today (1-30) after 11:42:58 am ) Tell me what you think about THAT solution!

Support / Feeling New to Computers: Shouldn't "Esc" Undo Your Last Action P.C.-WIDE?
« on: January 29, 2014, 01:00:12 pm »Message ID: 844657
But apparently it doesn't---not according to my recent findings here:

On my 'quick menu,' the icons for Firefox & CCleaner look similar; so I occasionally (rarely) click the Firefox-icon when I mean to open CCleaner.

That would be FINE if I could just push "Esc" to cancel that click and just go on to click the CCleaner icon. But I tried that, & it didn't stop NOTHIN`!

What I USUALLY have to do in that case is open the "File Manager," click the "Processes"-tab, find the "firefox"-process, highlight the filename, click 'End Process' & usually confirm that I really want to end the process (on account of I might've changed some files I want to save the changes to, or something).

Is there a quicker way? some 'undo'-button somewhere?

Off-Topic / Disabled, but Not 'On Disability'
« on: January 29, 2014, 12:35:31 pm »Message ID: 844647
The reason-why is quite simple: I was forced to be disabled BEFORE I COULD PAY-INTO "disability" (see #2 on SSDI-claims).

My parents won me some sorta 'settlement' (which I was duped into signing by the hopes that an upcoming case would earn me my millions). My parents then 'grew suspicious of'- & fired the lawyer, & ... have pretty-much flushed my hopes down the drain---plunging-in their divorce & my fathers failed law-career on top of them (so that they're TOTALLY forgotten  :'( )

The settlement is "enough" (luckily I've gotten USED TO 'tiny living-space' & 'less-than-efficient Internet-hardware' and 'LIMITED cable-television' & 'LIMITED traveling-capability' & 'LIMITED housekeeping' & ... all the other LIMITS a feeble money-stream supplies),

but I'm not sure if any cost-of-living adjustments are written into the agreement  :( (If there WERE, I could've stayed in the apartments I was inhabiting BEFORE >:( )

What is it that makes me more-worthless now than I would've been if I had defeated death AFTER paying into Social Security?

Off-Topic / Why Does Spoil Mean BOTH "Rob Blind" AND "Give Too Many Presents-to"?
« on: January 29, 2014, 11:26:12 am »Message ID: 844633
I remember when I was young, my father's parents would buy me nice gifts, but would say they were worried about "spoiling me."

Then I read in the Old Testament how Israel would frequently "spoil" the enemies they invaded (robbing them blind upon conquest).

Are the two meanings linked somehow?

I imagine my grandparents might've thought they were 'robbing me' of the appreciation for the value of a hard-earned penny ...

But don't get me started on 'spoiled GROCERIES!' :dontknow: :BangHead: :barf::sick: :angry7:

Debate & Discuss / Is There ANYTHING We Can Do about What Credit-Cards Are Doing to MONEY?
« on: January 29, 2014, 10:33:30 am »Message ID: 844613
I get a call the other day (one that I've been getting every day-or-so for the past week) telling me that--because of my answers on some survey and because of my not having a criminal record (or something ... hard to understand with the Far East accent)--the Federal government wants to give me about $7,000 ...

But they CAN'T send it to me because I don't have a 'bank account'-number.

Then I get a call from a magazine-subscription company, telling me they want to give me a bunch of subscriptions at a really-good rate. I agree, and get `em all "ordered"; then find out they can't 'put in my order' because I can't give them CASH over the phone (and apparently they can't-give me an address to send CASH to or -bill me by mail).

Is there no respect for CASH any more?
