Off-Topic / Youngest, Middle, Oldest, or Only

What was your family situation when you were growing up?  Were you an only child?  Or were you the youngest, middle, or oldest one?  How do you think this affected you, if it did at all?  I had one sister who was more than 16 years older so I was raised as an only child most of the time.  My parents were also older so they had the time and money to provide for me.  I actually liked being raised as an only child most of the time since there were many children to play with in our neighborhood.

Support / Re: Not Getting Paid for Completing Survey
« on: August 06, 2019, 05:17:25 am »Message ID: 1287304
I really enjoy completing surveys and this site makes it very easy.  However, I have completed a couple of surveys in which I have taken the time to answer the questions thoughtfully and then after I have completed the ENTIRE survey I get disqualified.  That information should be given to me upfront.  What is going on here?  I should be compensated for completing the survey.  What is the responsibility of the company offering the survey???

Welcome to FC!  I have had this happen more than I care to count, especially over the last year-and-a-half or so!  I don't have this problem on any other site to the degree I have on FC and I have been on survey sites for nearly 5 years now. I sometimes feel that the survey companies take advantage of some of us on FC!

Off-Topic / Re: What type of music do you like?

I like most kinds of music but it very much depends on my mood regarding what I listen to at the time. I can tell you the kinds of music I don't enjoy easier than the types I do as the list is much shorter.  I don't care for "old time" country music, rap/hip hop, and some types of jazz.  However, I have also listened to jazz that I liked.  Go figure!!

I look at both the time and money factors.  If I get into a survey that seems too lengthy and detailed for the money, i sometimes just close out of it because I have completed too many surveys where I didn't receive credit.  In fact, that happens on F.C. a little too often for me!

Off-Topic / Re: summer eats.

I think just about all fruits and vegetables taste better in the summer straight from a farmer's market.   I am really enjoying peaches and melon at the moment.  I have also found that in the winter I have to eat frozen vegetables rather than canned.  Canned veggies just taste "tinny" and not very fresh to me anymore. I seem to eat more healthy in the summer due to all the fresh food.  We are all so lucky to live in a country where there is an abundance of food.

When I had a puppy I put its poop in the toilet most of the time and occasionally in the trash.  My puppy was quite small and there wasn't much to its bowel movements. These little pups are like babies in many ways and can be a lot of work.  However, they are such great pals!  Be sure and find a vet that you trust.  The first one I found was the cheapest but he turned out to have a personality I didn't get along with.  I got another one quickly that I felt better servicing both me and my puppy.

They have a holiday for everything nowadays!  As far as watermelon is concerned, I love it!! It is one of favorite food of summer with its cool, sweet, melt-in-your mouth goodness.  I can eat a lot of watermelon when I'm in the mood, even making an entire meal of it at times.

Off-Topic / Re: If I Could Turn Back The Clock - I would.....

I would not get married the first time I did.  Instead, I would have completed my education through my Master's Degree and worked for awhile, which hopefully would have allowed me more experiences, including travel. I guess i would have liked to remain independent in all my decisions a bit longer without the consideration of a husband and child.

Off-Topic / Re: Do you eat in your bed?

I never eat in bed.  I like my bed to be pristine as possible and any crumbs or spills would mean changing and washing my bed clothing immediately.  However, I sleep on my living room couch about 2/3s of the time and have a TV tray there.  I guess you could say I eat in bed part of the time!

Off-Topic / Re: Working from home.

When I used to work, it was mostly outside the home.  However, on occasion, my employer let me take a day here and there and work from home.  It was always very welcome, especially in the winter, but I found I had to be very disciplined to work the amount of time I was supposed to work.  What I usually did was put in about four hours, take a break, go back at it for 2 hours, take another break, and then finish my last two hours.  I will admit that sometimes I called it a day after about seven hours! Part of my job was very intensive, writing lengthy detailed reports for other agencies, sometimes federal ones, and I had to give up from the mental fatigue.  You can only think and write so long!!

Offers / 1/2 cent videos
« on: August 04, 2019, 07:02:04 am »Message ID: 1286995
Whatever happened to the 1/2 cent videos?  I liked them as they were usually fairly short and sometimes I could easily rack up 7-8 cents without it taking way too long.  It seems like the ways to earn on FC have really narrowed over the past several years.  I miss the 1/2 cent-ers and would also like to see a search function where you earn a few cents on some days. Do you miss some of the old ways to earn?

Off-Topic / Paying For Clothing

Do you invest more money in a certain type or category of clothing?  Myself, I invest more in shoes, especially the older I am getting.  I need comfort and support for these old feet.  Podiatrists also state that buying supportive shoes when you are young will help forestall big issues with your feet as you age! I also, sometimes, invest in jackets/coats that I really like and can tell will last me a long time.  How about you?

Off-Topic / Manual or Electric/Battery?
« on: August 04, 2019, 06:46:52 am »Message ID: 1286993
Do you use a manual toothbrush or one that is electric/battery operated?  Dentists say that the toothbrushes that can make many more strokes per minute are more effective and that you need to brush your teeth for at least two minutes, I believe.  Which type toothbrush do you use?  Do you think electric/batter is more effective? Do you try to monitor how long you are brushing?

A person's right to own a gun is NOT more important than a person's right to life.  To not have some common sense measures on gun ownership is ridiculous and allows human life to remain secondary to having a gun.  Moscow Mitch is part of the problem when he doesn't bring bills to the Senate floor, Republican politicians who receive large donations from the NRA are another part of the problem, and a president who denounces anyone or anything that doesn't praise or agree with him is still another part of the problem.  No policy on far right terrorists that are "home-grown" is a sorry state of affairs.  They ought to know better.  It would be nice to see some guts on this matter!

Off-Topic / Re: Where would you go?
« on: August 03, 2019, 11:45:56 am »Message ID: 1286880
Where would you go if you wanted to go out, but didn't have anyone to go out with and you don't want to seem weird. I had someone ask me that question the other day.

Frankly, now that I am retired and not married or in a relationship anymore, I go wherever I want alone.  However, I try to pick times which are not popular for having a lot of people.  For example, I go to matinees at the theatre.  They are also usually less expensive at that time.  If there is a popular restaurant, I go to lunch on a weekday.  The lunch menu usually fits my appetite better and is also less expensive. I go to the public library and look at books and movies and what programs they are going to have.  I go to the local Senior Center as there is a very active one near me and they have quite a few day trips that are interesting.  I just joined a gym again and have intentions of going 2-3 times each week. Occasionally, I ask one of my few friends or they ask me to go somewhere.  Today I saw an outdoor art fair as I was driving by and stopped and spent about 30 minutes going booth to booth.  There are many places to go if you just take the initiative and don't let yourself be intimidated that you are alone.  Every once in a while, you meet an interesting person this way.
