Off-Topic / Youngest, Middle, Oldest, or Only
« on: August 07, 2019, 06:48:07 am »Message ID: 1287442
What was your family situation when you were growing up?  Were you an only child?  Or were you the youngest, middle, or oldest one?  How do you think this affected you, if it did at all?  I had one sister who was more than 16 years older so I was raised as an only child most of the time.  My parents were also older so they had the time and money to provide for me.  I actually liked being raised as an only child most of the time since there were many children to play with in our neighborhood.

Offers / 1/2 cent videos

Whatever happened to the 1/2 cent videos?  I liked them as they were usually fairly short and sometimes I could easily rack up 7-8 cents without it taking way too long.  It seems like the ways to earn on FC have really narrowed over the past several years.  I miss the 1/2 cent-ers and would also like to see a search function where you earn a few cents on some days. Do you miss some of the old ways to earn?

Off-Topic / Paying For Clothing
« on: August 04, 2019, 06:53:38 am »Message ID: 1286994
Do you invest more money in a certain type or category of clothing?  Myself, I invest more in shoes, especially the older I am getting.  I need comfort and support for these old feet.  Podiatrists also state that buying supportive shoes when you are young will help forestall big issues with your feet as you age! I also, sometimes, invest in jackets/coats that I really like and can tell will last me a long time.  How about you?

Off-Topic / Manual or Electric/Battery?
« on: August 04, 2019, 06:46:52 am »Message ID: 1286993
Do you use a manual toothbrush or one that is electric/battery operated?  Dentists say that the toothbrushes that can make many more strokes per minute are more effective and that you need to brush your teeth for at least two minutes, I believe.  Which type toothbrush do you use?  Do you think electric/batter is more effective? Do you try to monitor how long you are brushing?

Off-Topic / One of Your Worst Nightmares!
« on: July 05, 2019, 05:32:08 am »Message ID: 1282975
I have to admit that i have a number of nightmarish situations.  I'll share one of mine.  It would be my house catching on fire and having major damage and losing some sentimental things that can never be replaced no matter how good the insurance.  A friend"s adult daughter had one about 6 months ago and not only was the event, itself, a nightmare, but dealing with the aftermath, such as the insurance company, been one.  Not particularly because the insurance didn't want to pay, but due to all the work you need to put in to be fairly reimbursed.  All this was on top of working a job and figuring out where and how to live while rebuilding or relocating!

Off-Topic / Are You an Impulse Buyer?
« on: July 05, 2019, 05:22:58 am »Message ID: 1282971
I used to be a much more frequent impulse buyer.  I have become much more disciplined in the last 10 years or so. Shopping used to be my therapy.  I do have a problem in the remodeled Target here in town because their health and beauty department is awesome.  I have to be careful there.

Off-Topic / Chromebook
« on: July 04, 2019, 06:48:21 am »Message ID: 1282834
I will probably have to get a new laptop soon and am thinking of getting a Chromebook.  My budget will be around $500.  Anybody on the forum have one or know somebody who has one?  I am just looking for a little input.  I am wondering about the pros and cons from actual users or people familiar!

Off-Topic / Disappearance of Jennifer Dulos in Connecticut
« on: July 03, 2019, 11:14:37 am »Message ID: 1282661
Jennifer Dulos, mother of 5, left her fairly well off husband filing for divorce the very next day.  She described in her paperwork that her husband is threatening and violent at times. There is evidence of blood stains, blood spatter, and attempts of clean-up in the home which is human blood.  The husband had a girlfriend for a year and told Jennifer that he intended to move the girlfriend into their home.  The girlfriend and husband were seen getting rid of items which has now been reported to have blood on them. The defense is saying that Jennifer committed suicide or disappeared on purpose, as in the movie "Gone Girl." Is this defense incredulous or what? Have you heard about this case and what is your opinion?

Off-Topic / Sports Participant or Spectator?
« on: July 01, 2019, 06:30:23 am »Message ID: 1282211
So which role do you prefer to take in sports?  Would you rather be a participant or an onlooker?  For me, I used to like to participate in most sports but now that I am much older, I just want to watch.  Actually, there aren't many sports i even like to watch anymore. The Olympics is my main sporting event I watch now!

Off-Topic / Tripping Over a Long Weekend
« on: June 05, 2019, 08:41:10 am »Message ID: 1278621
Scenario: You have a four day weekend (not even a three, but a four) and money is no object.  Would you get in a car, use a bus, ride a train, or catch an airplane, and where would you go?
Me, I would catch an airplane and probably go somewhere like Miami or the Keys.  Sounds great right now!

Off-Topic / Caring For Your Teeth
« on: June 05, 2019, 08:31:11 am »Message ID: 1278618
Do you brush at least twice per day, floss, and regularly go to your dentist for check-ups?  I am asking because I am angry that dentistry is not considered as part of our healthcare insurance as they are so important to our overall health.  Teeth and gums can become unhealthy, and once they are, it is so expensive to treat them!

Off-Topic / What Do You Hoard More than Anything Else?

I have a very difficult time getting rid of clothing.  I can't even tell you why.  However, when I am looking through my closet and drawers, I will grab something to put in the donate pile and I will think that maybe I can wear it if I lose a bit of weight or that it will come back in style.  About 6 years ago I actually purged quite a few clothes but now I am back to where I need to again.

Off-Topic / Ladies and Handbags
« on: June 04, 2019, 08:53:02 am »Message ID: 1278440
I have several acquaintances who spend a lot on purses.  They do one of two things.  They either are constantly buying "budget" handbags because they can't turn down a bargain and/or need to add to their collection or they spend several hundred dollars on a handbag.  I can't do either.  I buy purses that are under $100, put my stuff in it, and use it until I'm tired of it or it's starting to wear out.  I hate to change handbags after i get used to it and where everything is. Ladies: which type of handbag user are you?

Off-Topic / Worst Employability Trait
« on: June 02, 2019, 09:45:04 am »Message ID: 1278025
I am now retired and have not been in the job market for about 5 years.  Funny thing, I worked in the field of Workforce Development so I can name all kinds of things that are problems.  However, I recently hired a skilled handyman to do a number of things around my home.  He is NEVER on time.  I mean never!  He is nice, he is skilled, he is detailed.  But he is also a little slow and "laid back."  Now his transportation has broken down and he has to rely on other people.  He never seems to tell them what time he needs to be here.  I have told him to fix it by telling them 30 minutes early but I don't think he has.  He has no regular, full-time job and now I know why!

Support / Review Robin Surveys
« on: June 01, 2019, 06:51:20 am »Message ID: 1277826
I have repeatedly not been provided credit for completed surveys with Review Robin lately.  Sometimes I am not even receiving the cent DQ!  I was just in the midst of one that started over on a completed section when the progression graph showed the survey was almost finished.  This is getting to be an issue and I will soon not bother with Review Robin if this keeps happening.  Anybody else having any issues with Review Robin?
