As a child, you’ve probably been told that rabbits eat carrots, monkeys eat bananas, and horses eat apples. But our understanding of dietary needs is beyond the “one food fits all” idea. We also know that humans benefit from these foods just as much as animals do, but you may not know just how beneficial these fruits and vegetables really are to your health!

The Power Of Carrots
Has your mother ever told you that carrots are good for your eyesight? It’s not just an old wives tale! Carrots are loaded with vitamin A, which helps the surface of your eyes, as well as the mucous membranes and skin, block bacteria and viruses from entering your body and causing infections.

Just one serving of carrots will give you up to 334% of your daily recommended vitamin A intake! One serving of carrots also gives you 10% vitamin C, 7% vitamin B6, and 17% vitamin K. Carrots make a great snack because they are low in calories, and are a good source of fiber, which makes you feel fuller, longer.

The Boost of Bananas
Though it is not as nutrient-dense as carrots and contains more calories, bananas, like carrots, provide your body with some well needed fiber and protein. When you consume one small banana, you are consuming 10% of your daily recommended vitamin C and 18% of your recommended vitamin B6.

Bananas also contain 10% potassium, which helps to lower your blood pressure and is important for muscle, heart and digestive function. Carrots provide a good amount of potassium as well. Finally, bananas also provide 7% of your daily recommended magnesium, which is essential for strong bones, cell signalling and energy production.

It’s not America’s most popular fruit for no reason. Bananas are a quick and convenient snack that can satisfy your sweet cravings with no washing, cutting or prep needed!

Don't forget the Apples:
The fiber content in carrots and bananas does not compare to the classic apple. One apple provides four grams of fiber! This fiber is soluble and may help stabilize blood sugar levels and lower bad cholesterol. High fiber foods can also help with weight loss!

Apples will also give you about 10% of your daily recommended vitamin C.

All these ingredients combined can help you to get your daily servings of fruits and vegetables in one glass of fresh, delicious juice!

Apple Bananas Carrots Juice Recipe:

Ingredients
2 Apple
1 Banana
3 Large Carrots

Directions
Juice the apple and carrots, then pour into a blender and add banana. Blend for about 30 seconds. Serve chilled.

Dear Customer,

Here at Walmart, we've always been committed to providing you with low prices every day, so you and your family can save money and live better. Savings Catcher, which compares nationally advertised prices through submitted receipts, was designed to catch occasions when a competitor’s price on a particular item was found to be lower than what you paid for it at Walmart.

What we've learned through Savings Catcher is that our efforts to lower prices upfront on thousands of items across our stores is working. Walmart's prices win most often when you submit your receipts, which tells us that the program's intent has been met.

That's why we have decided to discontinue the Savings Catcher receipt submission, effective May 14, 2019. After May 14, you will no longer be able to submit your Walmart Pay eReceipts to Savings Catcher. But don’t worry, the money you have on your Savings Catcher eGift Card will remain yours to spend until you're ready to use it.

We want to thank you for your loyalty and your participation in the program. We'll continue to work hard to offer you features and services that deliver on our promise to save you time and money—whether you're shopping in our stores or online at Walmart.com.

Off-Topic / Re: Multiple Myeloma
« on: March 18, 2019, 11:41:53 am »Message ID: 1266634
Multiple myeloma is a blood cancer that starts with one or more changes to the DNA of a single stem cell in the bone marrow. Stem cells form blood cells (white cells, red cells and platelets).

Myeloma develops in a white blood cell called a B cell. Some B cells transform plasma cells, which make antibodies – these are the cells that fight a wide range of infections. In myeloma, an injury to a B cell’s DNA causes an abnormal change that can start the transformation of a normal plasma cell into a cancerous cell. Because cancerous cells multiply at a faster rate than normal cells and don’t die when they should, one antibody will grow out of control and eventually crowd out other plasma cells.

* Gordon Ernst, former head coach at Georgetown - and the Obamas' tennis instructor - charged in connection to college-
   admissions bribery scheme
* Federal investigation dubbed Operation Varsity Blues netted nearly 50 people, among them nearly a dozen coaches,
   accused of accepting bribes
* Actresses Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman charged among 33 parents with paying bribes to get their children into
   top colleges
* Ernst allegedly received bribes totaling more than $2.7million to pass off Georgetown applicants as tennis recruits
* Rudy Meredith, former head coach of Yale University’s soccer team, allegedly accepted $400,000 to help teen get into
   Yale on soccer scholarship
* William Rick Singer, who founded college consulting business Edge College & Career Network, has been identified as
   suspected mastermind of the scheme
* Singer allegedly staged photo shoots for his clients' children showing them playing sports, and even PhotoShopped
   their faces onto stock photos

A former Georgetown University tennis coach who at one time was the instructor of First Lady Michelle Obama and her daughters was among the 50 people indicted this morning in a sweeping college admissions scandal.

The bribery scheme, which allegedly also involved actresses Lori Laughlin and Felicity Huffman, entailed getting students admitted to some of the top schools in the country as recruited athletes - regardless of athletic ability - and helping those applicants cheat on their entrance exams.

Gordon Ernst, who until last year was employed as the head coach of men’s and women’s tennis at Georgetown, was named in the bombshell indictment, along with long-time Yale women's soccer coach Rudy Meredith.

According to the unsealed indictment, between 2012 and 2018, during which time Ernst was the head coach of men's and women's tennis at Georgetown University, he received bribes totalling more than $2.7million, which was falsely labelled as 'consulting.'

In exchange for the payoffs, Ernst allegedly designated at least a dozen applicants as recruits for the Georgetown tennis team, including some who did not play competitively, in order to help them get into the university.

The money came from charitable accounts set up by the accused mastermind of the scheme, William Rick Singer, who founded the college consulting business Edge College & Career Network, also known as The Key, in Newport Beach, California.

Prosecutors said parents paid Singer about $25million to bribe coaches and administrators into pretending that their children were athletic recruits to guarantee their admission.

In one instance, according to the documents, Ernst was allegedly paid $400,000 for getting the child of Singer's clients into Georgetown under the guise of tennis recruitment, even though the applicant did not play competitive tennis.

Between September 2015 and August 2016, Ernst allegedly received checks totalling $700,000.

Ernst worked at Georgetown for 12 years before resigning in June 2018. Two months later, he was named the University of Rhode Island’s women's tennis coach.

An inductee of the New England Tennis Hall of Fame, Ernst at one time gave lessons to Michelle Obama and both her daughters, Sasha and Malia.

Ernst has been indicted on a charge with conspiracy to commit racketeering, along with eight other coaches.

Meanwhile, Rudy Meredith, who was the head coach of Yale University’s women’s soccer team from 1995 until November 2018, pleaded guilty last year to wire fraud, honest services wire fraud, and conspiracy; he has been cooperating with the government's investigation since April 2018 and helped build the case against others in hopes of receiving a more lenient sentence.

According to the documents, Meredith accepted a $400,000 bribe from one family to help their child get into Yale on a soccer scholarship, even though he knew she did not play the sport competitively.

To that end, Singer allegedly had an assistant coach for women's soccer at the University of Southern California create a fake profile for the girl, which stated that she was co-captain of a prominent Southern California soccer team and had been on China's junior national development team.

The bogus profile was then forward to Meredith, who designated the applicant as a soccer recruit.

The girl's family paid Singer a total of $1.2million for his services, according to the indictment.

Other named in the indictment are current Texas tennis coach and former Kansas tennis coach Michael Center, Stanford sailing coach John Vandemoer, several USC coaches and UCLA men's soccer coach Jorge Salcedo.

Vandemoer was charged with accepting a total of $270,000 in contributions to the school's program for agreeing to recommend two prospective students for admission.

The school said Tuesday that neither student came to Stanford.

Court documents say Salcedo, who was the soccer coach at UCLA, helped get two applicants who did not play competitive soccer into the school in exchange for $100,000 in 2016 and 2018.

US Attorney for Massachusetts Andrew Lelling called the bribery scheme the 'largest college admissions scam ever prosecuted by the department of justice.'

'In return for bribes, these coaches agreed to pretend that certain applicants were recruited, competitive athletes, when, in fact, the applicants were not,' said Lelling. 'As the coaches knew, the students' athletic credentials had been fabricated.'

The documents unsealed from the investigation - called Operation Varsity Blues - showed that 33 parents - among them Full House star Loughlin and Academy Award nominee Huffman - 'paid enormous sums to guarantee their children's admissions to certain schools through the use of bribes and fake academic and athletic credentials.'

Dozens of the parents, including Huffman, were arrested by midday.

Several defendants, among them the Desperate Housewives alum who is married to fellow actor William H. Macy, were charged with conspiracy to commit fraud, punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

Macy, who stars on the show Shameless, has not been charged in connection to the scheme.

One of the schemes involved parents paying Singer, the founder of the college prep business, $15,000 to $75,000 to have someone take the SAT or ACT for their children.

Singer also allegedly staged photo shoots for his clients' children showing them playing sports, and even PhotoShopped the faces of the applicants onto stock images of young athletes to help them get into the college of their choice on athletic scholarships, according to the documents.

Singer pleaded guilty this afternoon to charges including racketeering conspiracy and obstruction of justice.

The schools involved - Stanford, UCLA, Wake Forest, Yale, Georgetown, University of Texas, University of San Diego, USC - are not believed to have taken part in wrongdoing.

Lelling said the investigation is continuing and authorities believe other parents were involved. The schools themselves are not targets of the investigation, he said.

No students were charged. Authorities said in many cases the teenagers were not aware of what was going on.

Colleges moved quickly to discipline the coaches accused. Stanford fired Vandemoer, UCLA suspended its soccer coach, and Wake Forest did the same with its volleyball coach.

Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin's husband Mossimo Giannulli are both released from custody after making their first court appearances in the massive college cheating scandal:

* Huffman, Loughlin, and Giannulli are among 50 people who have been accused of paying bribes to get their children into
   America's top colleges
* The Desperate Housewives star allegedly paid $15,000 to arrange for someone to secretly change her daughter's
   answers during the SAT exam
* Loughlin and husband allegedly agreed to pay bribes of $500,000 in exchange for having their two daughters designated
   as recruits to USC crew
* Huffman was released on $250,000 bond and had to surrender her passport
* Giannulli was released on $1million bond, had to put up their house as collateral

Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin's husband Mossimo Giannulli have been released from custody after they were charged in a massive college admissions scandal.

Huffman and Giannulli are among 50 people, including Loughlin, who have been accused of paying bribes to get their children into America's top colleges.

The Desperate Housewives star was released on $250,000 bond on Tuesday.

Huffman allegedly paid $15,000, which she disguised as a charitable donation, to arrange for someone to change her daughter's answers during the SAT exams.

Charging documents state that both Huffman and her husband, actor William H Macy, agreed to the plan to help daughters Sofia, 18. They allegedly discussed using it again for their daughter Georgia, 16, but decided against it.

The scheme worked in several ways. First, parents would pay obtain a medical document which said their child needed extra time to complete either their SAT or ACT test. Once they got it, they would take the test in one of two centers that was controlled by the scheme's 'mastermind' Rick Singer. One was in Hollywood and one was in Texas.

Singer paid off Mark Riddell, a 'really smart' Florida college prep teacher who would fly to the test locations when a child was due to take it and either sit it for them or correct their answers once they had finished. The doctored tests were then sent on to be graded.

The second part of the scheme involved creating fake athlete profiles for kids to get them athletic scholarships to schools they would not have gotten into on their grades alone.

Singer allegedly had several sports coaches from various colleges around the US on his pay roll to facilitate this part of the scheme. Once the child got into their desired college based on the lie, the paid-off coaches then made excuses for why they were not showing up to practices including that they had become injured.

Macy, who was not charged, was in court on Tuesday to support his wife and sat in the front row. Authorities have not disclosed why he was not implicated in the scandal.

Huffman has been charged with conspiracy to commit mail fraud. A magistrate judge ordered the actress to restrict her travel to the continental US and she surrendered her passport to the court.

Seven Fbi agents showed up to Huffman's Hollywood Hills home at 6am on Tuesday, drew their weapons, and ordered the actress to come out and surrender.

Huffman, Macy, and their two daughters were asleep inside the home when the agents arrived.

One FBI source said that the guns were drawn as a precaution. Huffman was then taken to a federal building and processed by federal marshals.

Loughlin flew to Los Angeles from Canada on Tuesday afternoon and will surrender to authorities on Wednesday morning.

She has likewise been charged with conspiracy to commit mail fraud.

Loughlin and Giannulli allegedly paid $500,000 to get their daughters Olivia Jade, 19, and Isabella, 20, into the University of Southern California.

Sources said that FBI agents arrived at Loughlin's home on Tuesday morning, only to find out she was in Vancouver. They took Giannulli in custody.

Giannulli's bond was set at $1million, forcing him to put the family's primary residence up as collateral to guarantee the bond.

The designer also had to surrender his passport to the court.

Loughlin later turned herself in to investigators. She was released from custody after she posted $1million bail on Wednesday.

Mom's Homemade Super Laundry Sauce

One Single tablespoon does a whole load of wash!

Here is an amazingly simple Do It Yourself detergent that doesn't leave any residue on clothing, gets nearly every stain known to man out the first time around and smells clean and fresh- oh and did I mention that it costs about $1.76 for 128 loads of laundry?

Since our teen son started working at a fast food restaurant, this has become our most-loved detergent recipe. His clothing was so saturated with heavy french fry and onion ring grease scent that even washing them in TIDE didn't take out the horrendous smell. I whipped up a half gallon of this detergent and washed his clothes while he was at school- he thought I'd gotten a new shirt from his boss at work! First time EVER that ALL of the smell finally came out of his clothes, without further à deux - here is my Super Laundry Sauce recipe!

As with ALL household/Soap/Detergent/ Cleaner recipes, please take the time to read through the ENTIRE recipe before starting it. It will save you loads of hassle with a recipe that doesn't set properly.

~ This makes 1/2 Gallon of concentrate ~
~ Btw, that's a full 128 loads of laundry!! ~

1 bar Fels Naptha (Yes, the ENTIRE Bar!)
1 cup 20 Mule Team Borax
1 cup Arm & Hammer Washing Soda (NOT BAKING SODA!!)
4 cups of hot water

Off-Topic / Ilhan Omar Explodes at reporter who quoted her saying Obama got 'away with murde
« on: March 08, 2019, 03:55:40 pm »Message ID: 1265359
Ilhan Omar Explodes at reporter who quoted her saying Obama got 'away with murder on drone strikes because he had a 'pretty face' – then releases audio showing the journalist was right:

* The first-term lawmaker said presidents before Trump had 'really bad policies'
* She cited Obama administration drone attacks meant to take out terrorists
* We don't want anybody to get away with murder because they are polished'
* She called out 'caging of kids' on the southern border, blaming both presidents
* Omar later claimed the reporter had distorted her words
* She released a 2-minute audio clip from the interview, which indicates the journalist got it right

A day after her comments prompted a House vote condemning anti-Semitism, Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar landed herself in a new controversy by claiming a reporter misquoted her bashing former President Barack Obama – and then releasing audio of the interview that appears to back him up.

Omar, 37, told Politico Magazine that while she finds some of President Donald Trump's initiatives objectionable, Obama escaped the consequences of his own 'bad policies' because of his 'pretty face.'

After the news outlet quoted from the interview, Omar tweeted that the result was '[e]xhibit A of how reporters distort words. I’m an Obama fan!'

'I was saying how Trump is different from Obama, and why we should focus on policy not politics. This is why I always tape my interviews,' she added, along with a winking, tongue-out emoji and nearly two minutes of audio.

DailyMail.com reviewed and transcribed the recording, which supports what Politico reported.

The first-term Minnesota congresswoman bashed the Obama administration's forceful use of military drone technology to try to take out terror networks, and likened Obama's policy of separating migrant adults and children at the U.S.-Mexico border to Trump's.

Obama's aggressive aerial hunt for al-Qaeda and other terror groups drew criticism from the left, leading him to reel it in after misjudgments came to light.

Omar also implied Obama was a politician with a 'pretty face' that masked his bad policy choices, an attack that is at odds with public approval ratings that historically earn Obama support in the high fifties with even more backing among members of his own party.

'We can't be only upset with Trump … His policies are bad, but many of the people who came before him also had really bad policies,' Politico quoted Omar saying.

'They just were more polished than he was,' Omar continued. 'And that's not what we should be looking for anymore. We don't want anybody to get away with murder because they are polished. We want to recognize the actual policies that are behind the pretty face and the smile,' she said.

Her slam on the two-term Democratic president was published after the House passed a resolution condemning hate language on Thursday.

The legislative move was a response to comments from Omar that many of her colleagues deemed anti-Semitic. The charged fight over the resolution consumed lawmakers' attention this week, caused an internecine war among Democrats, and drew the media spotlight away from the sentencing of former Trump campaign chair Paul Manafort.

The final vote was 407 to 23 with one lawmaker voting present. All the no votes were Republicans.

Omar's comments had infuriated senior congressional Democrats, including some committee chairmen who are Jewish, and who publicly called out the use of anti-Semitic 'tropes.'

In the interview, Omar also drew comparisons between a crop of, new, progressive Democrats who are challenging party leaders and the conservative Tea Party.

'We look at the negative aspects of the Tea Party and not really at the part of them that spoke to the American people, that made them feel like there were people actively fighting for them,' she said. 'There's a resemblance there. A lot of us are not that much different in our eagerness to want to come here and fight for our constituents, fight for the American ideals we believe in.'

Among her comments that drew fire, Omar tweeted 'It's all about the Benjamins baby' to criticize lawmakers who support Israel.

Another remark by Omar raised criticism that she was reviving 'dual loyalty' attacks that have been used on Jews and other groups in the past.

Speaking about the Arab-Israeli conflict, Omar said, 'I want to talk about the political influence in this country that says it is okay to push for allegiance to a foreign country.'

Angry Jewish Democratic members pushed back their support for Israel was based on their own views, not money or loyalty to a foreign nation.

Said Florida Democratic Rep. Ted Deutch on the House floor: 'We are having this debate because of the language of one of our colleagues, language that suggests that Jews like me, who serve in the United States in Congress and whose father earned a Purple Heart fighting the Nazis in the Battle of the Bulge — that we are not loyal Americans?'

Omar's attacks on the popular former president are just the latest time the first-term lawmakers has found herself in controversy during just her third month in office.

She entered Congress as one of several 'fresh face' lawmakers who drew attention for their vows to shake up the system. Having spent part of her youth in a Kenyan refugee camp after fleeing war-torn Somalia before immigrating to the U.S., Omar is one of the first two women Muslim members of Congress.

The House changed a rule that prohibited head-coverings on the House floor, allowing Omar to wear her traditional dress while casting votes.

The fight over the anti-Semitism resolution forced party leaders to contend with various constituent groups, as well as pushback from Omar allies and critics of Israel policy.

First they broadened the text of the resolution to include condemn Islamophobia and white supremacism after Omar's defenders said one form of hate should not be singled out. Omar herself has been the recipient of hateful attacks.

Then, minutes before the scheduled vote Thursday Democrats pulled it again, to add several groups not included in the original measure, including Latinos, Asian Americans, Pacific Islanders, and LGBTQ community.

Intervening from afar was President Trump, who on Friday before leaving town declared the Democrats an 'anti-Jewish' party after the conflagration.

What Ilhan  Omar Said About Trump  And Obama:m
'I think for many of us, we think of ourselves as Democrats. But many of the ways that our Democratic leaders have conducted themselves within the system is not one that we are all proud of.

'You know, I will talk about the family separation or caging of kids and then people will point out that this was wrong – I mean this was Obama. And you know I'll say something about the droning of countries around the world and people will say that was Obama. And all of that is very true. What is happening now is very different. A lot is happening with secrecy. It's happening with the feel-good polished way of talking about it.

'And when we talk about waking people up from complacency, it's to say that we can't be only upset with Trump because he's not a politician who sells us his policies in the most perfect way. His policies are bad, but many of the people who came before him also had really bad policies. They just were more polished than he was.

'And that's not what we should be looking for anymore. We don't want anybody to get away with murder because they are polished. We want to recognize the actual policies that are behind the pretty face and the smile, so that we can understand the kind of negative impact, or positive impact, they will have on us for generations.'

Off-Topic / Airwolf star Jan-Michael Vincent dies aged 74 after suffering cardiac arrest
« on: March 08, 2019, 08:54:24 am »Message ID: 1265333
Jan-Michael Vincent, 1980s TV heartthrob and star of Airwolf, has died.

The actor passed away last month, on February 10, after suffering a cardiac arrest at a North Carolina hospital. He was 74.

TMZ, who obtained the death certificate, reports that no autopsy was performed and the star was later cremated.

The Denver born star had many credits to his name, with his career spanning back to the late 1960s.

His last role was in the 2002 drama White Boy.

But it was his role as helicopter pilot Stringfellow Hawke in Airwolf that made him a star. The show, which ran from 1984 to 1986, earned him $200,000 per episode, making him the highest paid actor at the time.

At the height of his fame he admitted to issues with drugs and alcohol - which reportedly contributed to the cancellation of his the CBS series in 1986 - and confessed in recent years that he was still struggling with alcoholism.

The actor almost died in 2012 after an infection forced him to have his right leg amputated.

He also suffered his fair share of bad luck including two serious car accidents.

In the first incident in 1996, Vincent broke three vertebrae in his neck and sustained a permanent injury to his vocal cords that left him with a permanently raspy voice.

The second crash happened in 2008, but worse was to follow in 2012 when he contracted a leg infection as a result of complications from peripheral artery disease.

As a young actor, Vincent won rave reviews for his role in 1978 cult surfing movie Big Wednesday.

He also starred opposite Burt Reynolds in the 1978 film Hooper and co-starred with Kim Basinger in the 1981 film Defiance.

Vincent lived with his third wife Patricia Ann who he married in 1999.

The troubled actor was married twice before, first to Bonnie Poorman, his 'college classmate sweetheart' in 1969 from 1974 to 1975.

The pair had a daughter, Amber Vincent, who is now 45.

He was married to first wife Joanne Robinson from 1986 to 1997.
