Off-Topic / Eid al-Fitr
« on: June 15, 2018, 09:33:03 am »Message ID: 1222057
I'm not trying to be insensitive or xenophobic, but why do I have to have islamic holiday notices on my iphone when I've selected OFF in the Settings>Calendar>Alternate Calendars?  My choices there include: Off; Chinese; Hebrew; Islamic.

So if I've asked to have none of these added, why am I reminded every time I check my calendar for various appointments today that it is Eid al-Fitr all day today?

I would be more than happy to give someone tips on how to get started.  Although it isn't that hard. :D
I have one referral that I know personally.  And she has not done anything in probably close to a year.  Hasn't spoke to me in several months lol. But the others I don't know at all.  If I did I would give them some encouragement.  It is not that hard to reach cash out every month.  Every other month is pretty doable for about anyone.

I agree 100%. I would love to communicate more with my referrals and give a more detailed personal testimonial (beyond what I posted with my link that encouraged them to sign up in the first place). But they have to opt in to accept emails from us - and very few of them do that.

Those that do, I have periodically sent out what I believe to be non-obtrusive encouraging emails. I try to give them a personal touch and not sound like spam/scam. I've never gotten any response and I haven't seen any activity from those users.

It really is too bad for them and too bad for me.  :'(  But I just keep at it and keep earning my credit each month.

The way I see it, it is not a dishonest answer if the options they give you don't cover your circumstances. If it is just a qualifying question, I pick something to advance the survey if they don't give a "none of the above" option and I see where it takes me.  If the main survey winds up being about something I truly am not a part of, then I will close it.

I once took a survey where I did not recall clicking any gender demographic buttons. But when it ended up asking me specific personal questions about my menstrual cycle - with no option to say "none of the above", "I have no menstrual cycle" or "I am a man" - I chose to exit the survey rather than pick the "closest" answer.

I just cashout to bitcoin now. I have some friends who trade it and I'm happy to get involved with money that isn't really mine. Of course, I'd prefer to have cash deposited via Paypal, but I love a good investment opportunity.

^^^ This.  If you cash out $20 from uniquerewards in Bitcoin, you have potential for a nice increase in a few months when Bitcoin rebounds from in its recent decline in value.

I've found that I use uniquerewards even more now with the Bitcoin option as my cash out choice.

I probably would have still told him about the free refill, but I can't honestly fault you with how you handled it. My thinking is: if the guy learned after the fact that refills were free and he was a big enough jerk (which it sounds like he was), then what's to stop him from complaining to the management that he was improperly charged and that I also never told him refills were free?
Sometimes being right isn't enough - even if "I was just following the customer's explicit instructions." ::)

But still wouldn't criticize you for how you handled it.

I have several hundred referrals through on online referral link. None of them were active beyond signing up except for one who was active for about 2 months and then went dead (well over a year ago). I suspect he may have gotten banned because he was in the forum bragging about how he had almost 350 referrals within a month of signing up. (I'm not to that point yet after three years of actively pitching the site!)

I have one personal invitation/word of mouth referral who remains active and gets me a $5 bonus about every 2-3 months.  I've heard oldbuddy say it many times before that without a personal relationship with your referrals, you don't have a very good chance of most referrals becoming regular earners for you.

Sometimes someone gets lucky and they snag one of us as their referral. I have zero ongoing relationship with the owner of the invite link I found three years ago - and I have never seen him active in the forum. Hopefully he is active enough to get my monthly $5 bonuses sent his way. I don't know.

It doesn't answer your question and I agree.  Why sign up if you aren't going to make any effort beyond that? But I will admit that there are several other sites out there that I signed up for, then made a pretty quick judgment call that it wasn't worth my time/effort and didn't go back.  Right or wrong, I think that is what happens to most people on FC who don't take enough time to properly evaluate the site and its earning capacity. Without a personal connection to them, we have little power to convince them otherwise.

Off-Topic / Re: President Trump And Kim Jong Un Meet To Begin Summit In Singapore
« on: June 12, 2018, 08:46:17 am »Message ID: 1221558
Liberal Media and Democrats want Trump to fail miserably. They will spin this summit as a failure regardless of how it eventually turns out. But a denuclearized Korea is a win for the entire planet and makes a safer world for our children and grandchildren.  Damn that evil Donald Trump for trying to make my world a safer place.

The rhetoric and, quite frankly, absolute B.S. being spewed by his opponents about this whole process is maddening.  They flip flop from six months ago saying 'he is too aggressive and is going to get us into a nuclear war to end all civilization' to now saying 'I can't believe he is sitting down with an evil dictator and allowing the US Flag [the very flag we choose to disrespect at every chance we get especially at professional sporting events] to stand side by side with the North Korean flag'. Speak out of both sides of your mouth much?

Mid-term elections are going to be one hell of a ride.

I have no qualms about handing my phone to a cashier if they need to scan a card or code from it. If is is going to save me money, then I'll take my chances. It's not like I am handing it to a five year old. My experience has always been that cashiers or wait staff of whomever I hand my phone to are always super careful with it.  I also have a screen protector on my phone which is a strong protection from minor drops - like from a cashier's hand to the table or belt by the register.

I have accidentally dropped it from worse and my screen protector takes the brunt, but never even the slightest scratch on my screen itself.

To compare Gods word with a catholic priest on who would come out on top would be like comparing Mike Tyson in his prime going against Bernie Goetz without a gun!!

I was making no such comparison.

Off-Topic / Re: Do you eat food that’s expired if it still smells and looks fine?
« on: June 11, 2018, 10:05:41 am »Message ID: 1221373
It depends upon the food. As some have said, many dates on canned and boxed items aren't actually expiration dates but instead are "best if used by" dates.  With milk and other dairy products, the date is usually a "sell by" date.  I think most dry goods simply put a one year "best if used by" date on the box.  I guess if I haven't eaten it in a year, what the heck did I buy it for in the first place? LOL! (I know that things sometimes get lost in the back of the pantry cupboard as new stuff is bought and put away)

Milk in our house rarely lasts to the date that is on the container. We usually buy it a gallon at a time and probably go through 2 gallons a week - give or take. So it is almost always used up well before the date. (But I still grab the jug with the latest date on it when I am selecting one from the grocery store cooler).

Who else would like to see a Rosie/Roseanne cage-grudge match? Not actual physical fighting, but a comedy/insult competition between the two Rosie political ideologies? Put it on PayPerView and see how much $ they can rake in.

God created the universe....Big Bang is nonsense.

I'm going to offer my opinion on this, which you make take or leave, but my belief is that God created the universe and that the 'big bang" was HIS method of creation. Science and religion do not have to be the "either or" proposition that so many people try to make it.  Likewise, creation (through evolution) is still creation by God.

It is ironic to me that the Big Bang Theory was actually first proposed by a Catholic priest and was initially rejected by science as being too spiritual.
