I've  tried it a few times myself and I don't believe it has credited for me.

I sometimes catch it in the evenings when they run a few back to back episodes on one of the cable channels. That was one of my favorites in the 90's. Some of the material is just a little bit dated for today, but the laughs are still the same (I'm thinking particularly of the Chinese restaurant episode where George needed to use the payphone to call a date. Today everyone would just have a cell phone).

Off-Topic / Re: Are you going to watch the inauguration Friday?

I won't be watching it live, but I intend to watch replays of it or maybe will set the DVR to record it.  I haven't watched them all, but it really is something special to see in my opinion, regardless of whether you agree with the politics of the new person. I am not surprised at the number of people who say that they won't watch it or intend to mock it, but there are so few countries with such a peaceful, yet formal, transfer of power.  And when it isn't a second term repeat President, it is always a bit dramatic to watch the former First Family as they depart in the presidential helicopter.

If you have the ability, you should watch it, regardless of your political persuasion or opinion of "The Donald."

Speaking of opinions, it would be neat if the marketer added one last question at the end of the regular survey: 'In you opinion, was this survey fun?'  Either way you answer will not affect the rest of your survey AND you get an additional 50 cents for your response.  Now that would be a fun survey.  :)
That WOULD make it more fun for me, that's for sure.
Your comment reminded me of another old thread (which I may have been the one who started it or else hijacked it like I am doing now).  I think every survey should have an option for open ended comments at the end where we can point out survey glitches or qualify an earlier answer or protest unfair/limited answer multi-choice questions, etc.

I have come across more than a few recently where they limited me to multiple choices - none of which applied to me and no option to select <OTHER> or <NONE OF THE ABOVE>.  One survey just presumed that I worked in the plumbing or some other contracting field -- without ever asking me the preliminary general question of how I earn a living.  After giving a few 'false' responses (because I had no other option to advance the survey) I ended up just closing it out. It would have been nice to have the option to select <I AM NOT A PLUMBER> and get my penny DQ...  But oh well.

It reminds me also of the forum question: Have you ever lied on a survey?  How are you supposed to answer a multiple choice question asking how long you've been a plumber when you aren't one, didn't say that you were, and offers no answer options which are not 'lies'?

I suppose the 'truthful' way to handle it is to do what I did and just close out the incomplete survey.

Hyprmx videos is in my list but it says the video is private, does anyone having this kind of issue today?
Yes, I'm having the same issue on several sites that offer HyprMx videos! Glad I'm not alone in it, but wish it wasn't so!

Me as well.  I was really excited to see the HyperMx option on my videos page today. That was a pretty mean joke for them to tease us with the prospect of easy pennies and then throw up a video that will not play!  I tried it about four times -- each time hoping for a different result, but I kept getting the same thing...

Our stuff came down on Sunday.  We usually leave everything up at least until the Feast of the Epiphany, which I think is on January 6th.  Not ALWAYS, but often our tree and decorations stay up until the first or second weekend after the 6th.

I don't know if that's the same as the Digital Reflection meter that I got late last year. I did get paid the first $50 from them, but then I cancelled my account, because it messed up my internet terribly. I think it just wasn't compatible with HughesNet; at any rate the internet was so slow as to be unusable.

I have no personal experience with these, but this has always been a concern of mine when it comes to the "get paid to let us monitor your activity" offers. I'm less concerned about privacy issues than I am concerned about them bogging down my bandwidth.

Even so, this does sound like a decent payout if they legitimately pay. Good luck!

Off-Topic / Re: Postings on Facebook
« on: January 17, 2017, 09:48:27 am »Message ID: 1117596
I sometimes post family updates or photographs on FB; occasionally I'll post a short video. I also post sports related snippets when my favorite team has won a tough game or something like that.  I also paste links on FB to any new blog posts I write.

I keep it clean and try to conduct myself on FB in the same way I would in public.  Over the past few years, FB has turned into a cess pool of political soapboxes, which I usually read with interest, but never respond. It is way too easy to offend or get branded.  There have been several times where I came close to breaking my "no politics on FB" rule, and have even typed up responses only to delete them without posting.

FB is great for keeping in touch, but it isn't worth the risk of losing a friend.  So when I see a political rant that I agree with, I give a silent thumbs up in my mind.  When I see one that I disagree with, I formulate a mental response and fume a bit about it, but ultimately resolve in myself that the person has a right to his/her opinion and I move on to the next funny animal or baby video in my FB feed.

I never thought about that, but you are right! We do get little fringe benefits in the informal education we get here, without even thinking about it.

But when am I EVER going to use this knowledge in the REAL world?    ::) (Doing my best high school student impersonation).

Without disclosing any details of the survey (which might violate TOS) are you able to objectively confirm that it was, in fact, a "fun" survey as opposed to one that was tedious or boring?

Reminds me of a story I heard several years ago I think it was.  There was some young girl, only in her 20's at the time I think, who had "fallen in love" with Manson after corresponding with him in prison and was desperately trying to get married to him, but there was some kind of red tape preventing it.  In the end, I don't recall if it was speculation or actually proven, but IIRC she was actually just out for a quick and easy buck since she expected he would not live much longer and that if she was his legal spouse, the body would eventually be released to her once he died. The rumored plan was that she would put him on some sort of side-show display and charge people a fee to see her husband's body or final resting place or whatever.

Off-Topic / Re: Does anyone know Superfly Jimmy Snuka?
« on: January 16, 2017, 11:09:19 am »Message ID: 1117437
When I was a kid, I loved wrestling and watched it any time that I could.  Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka was one of my favorites.  I eventually grew out of it, but I always loved to watch him climb the ropes to execute his signature move!  I'd never heard the story about his dead girlfriend until recently.  He was generally a good guy wrestler, but there is so much acting and role playing involved (that I didn't know about as a kid) - who knows what these people are like in real life. And with all of the steroids that there were on back in the day, who knows what sort of roid-rage incidents they were guilty of?

How many lives were ruined, shortened, or ended all because of entertainment?

Debate & Discuss / Re: N. Korea, Russia, or China

China can do the biggest economic damage to us, but North Korea is the "Who-the-hell-knows-what-that-crazy-a$$-will-do?" variable.  Donald Trump has been meeting with several influential African-Americans at the Trump Towers recently looking to improve race relations in the country (I'm thinking of Kanye West and more recently Steve Harvey). I think he needs to add Dennis Rodman to that list. He's in tight with that North Korean lunatic...
