Off-Topic / Re: IPhone Scam

Have to agree with Countrygirl.  No person would ever pay $150 more than you are selling it for.  Also, a address in Niguara is a major red flag.  That spells scam big time!

Kind of makes you feel bad for anyone from Nigeria who HAS A LEGITIMATE business or project.  Anything remotely tied to that region is immediately red flagged in my mind and would never even consider buying from, selling to, or dealing with.  But there are obviously enough people who regularly fall for the schemes -- otherwise they would not be so rampant.

I collected dozens of things that my daughter said at various stages of her young life. I wrote them all down at the time she uttered them and dated them so that I would not forget them.  About a year or so into that, I turned them into a web site and added her quotes as they came.  My site is called Words of Wisdom, with a tagline "A sometimes confused but often very wise and insightful little girl, trying to understand and express herself in a grownup world. Many questionable quotes and quotable questions!"

If you Google that tagline, you can see a sampling of her quotes.  As she grows older and gets a better grasp on correctly expressing her thoughts, the funny quotes are coming much less frequently these days!

Off-Topic / Re: Grill or Stove?
« on: August 06, 2015, 07:11:51 am »Message ID: 1002584
In Ohio, we LOVE to grill in the summer, but just from practicality the stove still gets used much more than the grill.  Steaks; burgers; hot dogs; brats; chicken; corn on the cob = all are more likely to be cooked on the grill.  But many other items are just easier to do on the stove.  Grill requires more cleaning and must be uncovered and covered back up (once it cools off), so we use it when we want a grilled flavor, but not as convenient for other everyday use.

If it is something minor, I am usually able to figure it out myself.  If it is something intermediate, my wife is very knowledgeable and can often work things out.  She is the unofficial IT person at her company in addition to her regular duties.  Problem is that all of her friends know she is knowledgeable, so any time they have a problem, they call my wife.  She spends so much time on computer issues, that I usually let mine linger so as not to bother her during her down time.   :-\

I've been using it for exactly one year (started August 6th of last year) and I've made $4.99.

And just like that, I added another $2.82 today on a receipt that was already pending when I wrote the above earlier this afternoon!

Off-Topic / Re: joined FC July 1st.. Already close to cashing out

As far as referrals, good luck on that too.  The few people I have attempted to get involved have all told me basically the same thing:  "Too little money for too much effort and time!"

That response is all too common and it never ceases to amaze me.  As most on here realize, the effort and time commitment really isn't all that much and it doesn't appear to be that difficult to reach a cash out.  I joined in July also and made my first cash out request last Friday.

When I first looked into Fusion Cash, I saw the 180 day expiration and a few yellow flags went up in my mind.  But after looking at the opportunities for bonuses and an automatic 22 cents a day for the PTC and daily email, it is impossible NOT to cash out in that time frame unless you walk away and don't even try.

Absolutely!  It is free money without any effort!  Now the money may come in very slowly, but over time it will add up.  I've been using it for exactly one year (started August 6th of last year) and I've made $4.99.  Not much at all, but I haven't done anything for that other than scan a bunch of barcodes on things I already had to buy anyway.

Definitely "over" because if it is under - my kitties would have a blast!!!

Funny, I was going to say the opposite for the very same reason.  Our cat will unwind the t.p. if it is over, but if it is under, she can only just spin the roll around without unraveling it!

I would have to know more of the story than what you stated here.  I need to know more of the circumstances in order to form any kind of opinion

Agreed.  There needs to be more detail to the story to decide if this was over the line or not. If the child posed a legitimate threat to himself or others (including the resource officer) my answer might be different than if the child was completely innocent of any bad behavior out of the ordinary.

Off-Topic / Re: What place do you think is a great place for a vacation?
« on: August 04, 2015, 09:31:23 am »Message ID: 1002128
The two vacations that are on my bucket list are New England in October and a Caribbean cruise (did one years ago as a teenager, but want to go again as an adult with my wife).  There are many others that I would enjoy, but these are the two at the top of the list.

I live in Sandusky, Ohio which is a mini-destination for many in the summer, so I try to enjoy the vacation-y tourist parts of the area as much as possible while still staying in the comforts of home.  We will also be going to Ocean City, MD every three years for the next 10 or so while our daughter is in competition dance as her studio enters the competition there every third year.

Support / Forum Contests
« on: August 04, 2015, 07:11:26 am »Message ID: 1002092
Is there a trick to getting credit for the forum contests? Is there a shorter deadline to respond or a limited number of entries accepted?  I have done it two or three times since I signed up a month ago, but don't believe I have ever gotten credit for any responses.  I scrolled through my posted credits and don't see any entries for "Tuesday Promotion" or "Saturday Promotion" like others seem to paste/post into the forum.

I've only been clicking on the CURRENT CONTEST links -- not always ON the day they are first posted, but always before the next one is up.  I fill out and submit the answer form, but never see anything added as a result.  I've got to be missing something simple, but I cannot figure out what it is.  ???

Is there an extra step to register for these?  I am confused.

Have never heard of her before, but looked her up online.  I don't know about beating professional male fighters, but she would kick my butt in ten seconds or less!

Off-Topic / Re: Peaceful Sunday

Sunday was a lazy day for us after church, which included an unplanned nap on the couch while listening to a baseball game on the radio!  After I waking up the laziness ended. I listened to the end to the game (Pirates won!), made dinner for the family, washed some dishes, cut the grass, picked up a few items at the grocery store, and made some money online!

Off-Topic / How/where did you meet your spouse/significant other?
« on: August 03, 2015, 08:07:00 am »Message ID: 1001758
Question is self explanatory in the subject line, so I will just give my answer.  We met while serving together on a church retreat team and slowly got to know each other through that team building process over several weeks and over the retreat weekend while assigned to the same small table/group.  I do not believe it was a coincidence that we both served on the same team together. I believe it was a higher plan at work!

Off-Topic / Re: What retail grocery stores do you shop at?
« on: August 02, 2015, 06:06:23 am »Message ID: 1001428
I like to shop at Meijers, Krogers, Walmart, Busch and Heartland, all depending on what's on sale?

Your first three on the list are our three top stores also.  Have never heard of Busch or Hertland in this area.  On occasion we  pick up a few groceries at Target, but it is a limited grocery selection, not a full blown supermarket.  There are also a few smaller independent markets, but they cannot compete with the others' prices.
