Off-Topic / Re: Sequoia national park

I have not visited yet, but have done a little research on the area.  The wonders of this national treasure have inspired me to see this place in person ever since I was in elementary school learning about the sequoias and the must-see General Sherman Tree.  I've been to Los Angeles before, but have never been able to head out to the Sierra Nevada.  I understand the scenic route from Los Angeles is Hwy 198 through Visalia and Three Rivers which takes you to the entrance at Ash Mountain.

Hopefully, some members here can give some first-hand experiences traveling to and visiting this park.

The contests have been inactive since Kohler (an Administrator who ran them) stopped, shortly after he announced his marriage, almost two years ago.

It is still found under the "No Credit Card Needed" tab.  Just scroll down to it.

Off-Topic / Re: What a strange year

It's due to the polar vortex that usually stays trapped in the Arctic, but has wandered down into Canada and the northeastern part of U.S.  It has pushed into some parts of the Midwest as Chicago may not see temps above 45 degrees, a new low for a high temp in May.  The Ohio and Tennessee valleys will receive light rain that shifts to the east turning into snow in the higher elevated parts of W. Virginia and Pennsylvania.  It is expected to be a record-setting event for this time of year.

Offers / Re: Covid19 Surveys
« on: May 07, 2020, 09:11:31 pm »Message ID: 1324062
I started noticing the amendment of Coronavirus-related questions to the end of typical surveys right away.  I also am glad to provide my views if it helps define the situation in a way that is better for all of us.  I've completed surveys that were solely about COVID-19, and, I must say, some that were thought-provoking when answering (the questions were more along the line of bearing responsibility in reporting, finger-pointing or suggestive of conspiracy theories).  And these surveys can be waaay too long at times.

Offers / Re: Tap Research - Not Crediting

I didn't experience any delays with Tap crediting today.  Maybe it was because I didn't log on until late in the afternoon.  I completed two Tap surveys right away -- one for 15¢ and the other for 14¢, a study for Duke University.  I continue to see additional questions involving the Coronavirus issue.

It's very rewarding when you can get a survey about something you are interested in.  They don't come along that often.  I see so many surveys about finances, politics, and health.  They aren't necessarily my cup of tea.  Now give me a survey about knitting, gardening, or chocolate, and I'd be happy!

I got the best survey about a new chocolate product yesterday!  I agree that it made me happy to complete it.  It wasn't a Tap survey; it was Pollfish (found on the video page).  Paid 9¢.  Pollfish shows up randomly on my video page, but I always try it when it does.
:fish:

Seesawing, good for you!!!  I would have loved that one.  It really does make a difference when the subject material is something you can identify with!

Yes, it does.  And soon enough I'm craving chocolate -- got my hands on a bag of Godiva dark chocolate bark with whole roasted almonds. ;D

Off-Topic / Re: Did you panic when FC was down?
« on: May 07, 2020, 03:54:26 pm »Message ID: 1324038
I know I should be used to this by now, but I really thought FC had given up the ghost.  When loading FC through IE it gave me a 'domain name for sale' page.  Loading through Chrome was entirely different; you were not able to access FC at all.

Interestingly, while searching in a mild panic, I found a site called 'notopening.com' in which you type in the name of a site and it indicates wither it is up or down.  It keeps a running tab for you by time.  I've never seen a site like this before.

But, here we are all back together again.

I burn the midnight oil for FC, too.  I'm trying to cut back though because I find myself "rewarding" myself with a few too many YouTube videos after I complete PTC and the 5¢ needed towards the next one.  That has gotten to be a bad habit even though I'm picky about what I select (it must be with a purpose or goal in mind).  But I find that with YouTube you can't watch just one anymore.

And then there is that one question (and only one) in a survey that asks:  "how often have you worn your seatbelt in the last 30 days?" [choices to select]  BAM!  DQ   :dontknow:

Well, the above example was at the beginning right after clicking on the survey.  I don't like those surveys that hit you with a DQ at the end once you submit, either.

Offers / Re: Is There Going to be Good Video Opportunities Ever Again?
« on: May 05, 2020, 12:43:41 pm »Message ID: 1323863
I'm wondering if advertisers, many of whom utilized the short video format, have moved on to something else?  In other words, something appears to have changed in the marketing landscape.  It doesn't seem the popular thing to do anymore.

Back when the video page was spilling over with offers (up to 2 pages) you might see movie trailers, funny skits (as was the case during the presidential election year) or a series of ads like RIDGID Tools using a spokesperson or PSA announcements or short-and-sweet single ads, like the guy who hated to leave his puppy at home and decides to take him to work.  I remember one long video offer about an e-sports event; it was ridiculously long, but back then you might get credit without having to watch to the end.

There were always quizzes, but I remember some were hard to work through (technically speaking) because they were so over-used they were corrupt and had glitches.  Radio Loyalty fell apart in that way and is probably beyond repair.  I really do miss the variety from back in the day.

Off-Topic / It's Cinco de Mayo but...

 did we miss "May the 4th be with you" yesterday?  Well, no matter, because we'll have to figure out how to celebrate Cinco de Mayo in these pandemic times.  Anybody got plans?  Any ideas on how to celebrate when most everyone is still in lockdown?
