Toonami is not an older version of Adult Swim. It was a cartoon block on Cartoon Network that began in the late 90's and aired during the weekday afternoons. Tom replaced the original host, Moltar (a Space Ghost villain), but was killed in his own story and another Tom took over. The success of Toonami gave birth to the 'Midnight Run' and 'Morning Sun' versions. It also had a short life on the WB channel. Cartoon Network cancelled Toonami a few years ago and it came back last year as what was suppose to be an April fools joke but stayed.

I'm lost.  I even looked it up and still don't know what you are talking about.
Have a wonderful day!

Toonami was different than Adult Swim. I used to watch it after school. They used to show Sailor Moon episodes, which I really loved. I think even some Thundercat episodes?

Adultswim bought (or bring) Toonami back from the dead... It was to bring pg-13 or older audience anime shows late night at saturday I believe... Adultswim use to have a small line up of anime (Bleach, Inuyasha, Full Metal Alchemist, Naruto, FLCL, and some other stuff) but since they have Toonami, they can broaden their lineup.. However I haven't heard anything from it (mainly because I don't watch tv anymore)

Toonami use to be a cartoon/anime base program back in good ol days with some good classics/movies. But it stop airing at 2007? I think the main charm of toonami was cartoons and anime movie flicks, not pg 13 or older anime

Adult Swim had a lot of anime such as the ones you listed except Naruto. They didn't air that show until they revived Toonami. They also had S-Cry-Ed, Paranoia Agent, Samurai Champloo, Eureka 7, Gundam 0083, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Death Note, and more. I don't think they needed Toonami if they wanted to show more anime.
