tips for crocheting granny squares

I'm new to crocheting and i'm wondering if anyone can give me some tips on crocheting a granny square.  I've tried to do one but it never seems to come out square.  If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it.

you are making your corners right? i know my pattern requires the 3 chains between the sides so that it make the corner of the square. If i knew more of what you were doing wrong or maybe a picture I could help you better. I sell my crocheted products.

Ok I don't think i'm making the 3 links I do that after each triple?  I can do one and then show you a picture of it.  I keep taking them apart.
