Black Friday: How can I prepare?
« on: November 24, 2009, 09:18:53 pm »
As you know, Black Friday refers to the day after Thanksgiving that marks the traditional kickoff to the wonderful holiday shopping season.  Some people are armed and ready for it.  How do you prepare?
A few things I do:
Collect the ads from all of the stores in my surrounding area; I also view ads online
Make a gift list
Bring your ads with you (some stores will beat competitor prices)
Wear comfy shoes

I'd like to hear your feedback.

I was just coming here to ask what to do to get ready for that. I want to know mostly if there is some etiquette to this? Or is it every person with a goal for themselves? Usually I don't have to do this but I guess this year I'm going in.

Shop Black Friday online instead of going to the stores. You can find the same things

I wouldn't go to Black Friday at all.  I suggest for next year that you shop deals all year round.  This way you can spread your money out all year and you won't have to be stressed about saving it up for this one point in the year.  Look for store close out deals, big sales especially around holidays like Fourth of July or something, Ebay is a great place to get brand name stuff for hella cheap (I have bought Benefit makeup that usually costs $30 for $15, others that are $20 for $5).  So there is a lot of good stuff on there (of course there are knockoffs but if you just educate yourself they are easy to spot and you can always get a refund through Paypal).  End of the season deals, like when summer starts I know all the winter stuff at my fave store will go on sale, then even later it will be 50% off of the clearance price.  That goes for other stores too.  Those are my tips.  That way if something does come up and you need your emergency money or whatever you will have it since you didn't have to save money up and shop in the crowds at this time of the year.

They have been having black friday every weekend here, so I don't know that there will be all that many sales this year. Anyway my husband always has to work, and I can't drive, in a wheelchair so probably no sales for me.
