Daycare
« on: December 24, 2009, 06:23:44 am »
Why is it so hard to find a good daycare.  I've been searching for a daycare for my son but they either full (no space for his age) or the ones with space won't take him this young.  What do I do?

start asking around.
I live in an area highly populated by daycares.  Someone told me when my son was only a few months old something that is SO true --- they said "you will never completely like the daycare because you (as the parent) always feel like you can do it better".

I knew that my son would need to go to a daycare and due to my transfer of job he has been in three different day care facilities and he is 2 1/2 years old now.  He has done VERY well in his current day care and we have had our issues with the day care but overall he is thriving and we have to weigh many factors when we deal with what we don't like about the daycare.  We may not like how the daily activities go, but he is learning -- so we deal with it.  We may not like that the other children have no discipline, but this is not the daycare's fault and we have to understand that they do their best.

Good luck -- check out the internet public information sites for your county, etc.

Hey there !I've worked at a licensed day care and a non licesned day care. The rules of the state for operating a licensed day care are simply preposterous. I beleive it's hard to find a day care because being the awesome mother you are you want to go above and beyond for your child. It takes time for the right day care to fall into place. I've also been a nanny/ babysitter ever since I was young. One of my goals is to open up an at home day care in memory of a 2 year old I lost a year ago due to accidental drowning. His name was Elliot Barbier. Keep in mind it wasn't in my care but in his parents care when the drowning happened, all it takes is a second to happen. If anyone is interested in getting involved in removing drowning as the number one cause of death for children 1-4 years of age, visit www.littleprincefoundation.org and facebook there are two groups for him!
Even though, I wish you the best for your journey on finding the right care for your child! Keep us posted when you do find something!
 ;D
