Oh i don't mean the spelling....if it's bad enough, sure, it can be hard to read, but you can have bad spelling and people can still read it. What i mean is, sometimes people don't string together their sentences right. They will try to form a sentence, and fail horribly, by putting the words in the wrong order, or making several small mistakes. It's hard to explain, i wish i had an example. It just annoys me slightly.

Yes it can be annoying when people don't use proper English, but not everyone is perfect. The thing that annoys me the most is when people replace numbers with letters (ex: h8er) or when they TyPe LiKe ThIs. I do my best to look past it, especially if the person doing it is a teenager, but if it's a grown adult that does that then there's no need for it.

Whatever words we utter should be chosen with care for people will hear them and be influenced by them for good or ill. Budda

Well, if you mean speech - that could just be the regional dialect they grew up in.
Especially if we're talking about a little thing like slurring your words a bit or pronouncing words differently (had a substitute once, when I was a kid, who asked how we said the state name - Missouri - because she was taught to pronounce it differently).

I personally have a hard time remembering to say "sink" not "zink" :P
I also had to go to speech therapy as a child to learn to pronounce words like "San Francisco" correctly.

My sister's current boyfriend can not say "napkin" and a few other words at all. Not even close to the word. Apparently, his father says them the same way, so it could possibly be genetic, lol

If you're using a word completely wrong though - like my brother has started using "judges" when he means "depends" (dunno where he got it from and won't take correction) - then I can see a bit where you're coming from.

But then again, could just be a case of misunderstanding their word-a-day calendar :P lol

Or never being told the correct pronunciation (as a kid, yeah, read a word, sound it out, gets stuck in my brain and later find out that it's not said that way.  :angry7: ::) Luckily, the internet dictionary includes soundbites nowadays).

Writing on the other hand - yep, a bit annoying and can make me lower my opinion of the other person.
But as long as they put a bit of effort into it, so that I can still read it, I don't mind a few misspellings.
A lot of people browse from phones nowadays anyways, so I can understand taking a few shortcuts.

To sum up: Doesn't mean the person is ignorant, and even if they don't know how to spell or pronounce a word exactly, doesn't mean they don't know what they're talking about.

We are all imperfect, contrary to what we would like to think of ourselves sometimes. We make mistakes. I don't think that it's so much as 'ignorance', it's just the lack of paying full attention when we are typing in the forum. Sometimes you have so much to say that your mind is moving faster than your hands, and you forget to add all the letters of the word(s) you're trying to say. I'm guilty of that, myself. I'll make more of an effort to make sure that all my  :crybaby2: are doted and my  ;D are crossed.

To be fair, i rarely see that kind of stuff typed out. It's more of a spoken thing. I have many friends who speak in such a way, and most of them are quite intelligent. My real pet peeve are when the stupid ones speak like that, lol.

I can't stand it on forums in a serious topic. I find it okay in games though. You're usually not thinking about your bad grammar when the zombies are mauling you.

:sad1: I was hit by a car, and lost most of my abilities to spell and do math.. It dosen't mean that I am ignorant. I went to college, and have a master in art. I still can't spell.. So I think ignorance is in the eye of the beholder. Maybe I can't spell, but I sure can paint!!!

It really boils down to this.  When we judge others we need to be absolutely sure that we are above reproach.  It is too true that when you point at others you have 3 fingers pointing back at you.  I'm sure you didn't intend to deliver a message that was so obviously stereotyped toward a particular ethnic group.  I'm sure you would not like to think of yourself as being unkind or racist.  However, this posting has set you up to be observed as both.  It's good feedback - perhaps you want to rethink your position.   :bunny:

Just because some people may not talk in a way that is gramatically correct does not make them ignorant.  That is quite a judgemental thing to say.
