What is up with the goverment's system of providing money to go to school

I applied for and online class for Medical Billing and not only do I not qualify for any grant money but I have to pay the whole class out of pocket (PS it's 14 thousand) and I have to start paying now not 6mo after I graduate.  What is up?  I am very disappointed.  Of course who has that money now so I had to drop out.  I thought that was the point was to go to school to better myself but who has that kinda money in this economy?

Sorry to hear about your situation. I hope that you didn't owe the loan and then drop out. You know these student loan are forever. Yes, it's true! You cannot get rid of student loan. And if you default, you won't see your tax refund until your loan is up to date. It's a horrible thing so try to stay away these loan committment. As for the Government giving away money for school; you need to enroll in the community colleges or university to avoid taking out too much $$.
By attending the public colleges, you can save up $10,000 per year. It's a better way to make sure that free grant from the government will cover the expenses for school.

I only had one day into class (it was all online) but I did sign the electronic paperwork.  I'm hoping that I don't get stuck with the whole bill.  That would be depressing.  Thank for the advice
