When I was a kid, we drove all around the country in the back of a Chevy Impala WITHOUT seat belts and the windows rolled up while my parents smoked like chimneys!  We camped, fished and hiked along trails that have left wonderful memories embedded in my mind for later recall as I get older.

With my own family, we troll them all around the country in the back of a Ford Expedition WITH seat belts and without the smoke (we don't).  We camp, fish, hike and enjoy campfires as a family.  I know that we are making great memories for the children and we will do the same with grandchildren one day.

Isn't that amazing!  It's funny, kids nowadays think they have it sooo tough.  Look at all we lived through, our parents lived through...
Good thing is that we have memories of living and doing things OUTDOORS.  It's sad, most kids now don't have that  :(
they are always inside!

well i havent been ne where else but lake tomahawk, wis. for vacation. we drive up there almost every year. there are private cabins up there thats right one the shore of pier lake. right across the street is rainbow lake. pier lake is very small compared to rainbow lake. its in between bass lake and another one. i'm sure there is about 4-5 lakes within a 15 mile radius. ne ways, we go up to a cabin. we've been going up there for 5 generations now or 6. my dad wants to go up there every year even though all he seems to want to do is fish. i know fishing is a stress reliever and he needs to de-stress so we dont complain. there is a swimming area but we couldnt swim last year coz the weather was bad. it was raining all week we were there.half of my grandpa's ashes are spread out in that lake. thats where me wanted his ashes spread.  we go to the big flea markets in st. germain and the ones around where we stay. we also go to the antique malls around. we go into minocqua to shop at the stores. i wanted to find the toy store (not 5 & dime). there was another one where i bought my man's ty beanie baby dog.i couldnt find it last year, i wondered if it went out of buisness. ne way, last year was my neice's first time up there since she was born. she was only a couple months old so she wont remember it but at least we can tell her she went.

This place looks like fun! I live near Chicago and like going up to WI. I've added this place to my "Places to GO!" favorites folder. Thanks, dude.

My favorite vacation was a weird one, my parents were stressed out and wanted to get away to forget everything so we loaded in the car and drove for a couple of hours taking new routes never knowing which way we were going the whole weekend, stayed at a hotel in a town we never heard of and reconnected with each other. At first we thought our parents had gone looney, they acted like kids the whole time, but the end of the weekend we were very sad to go home!

One year we drove to Tennessee and went to the grand ol opray.  It was so much fun.  We also went to Dollywood that year in Pigeon Forge.  We had a blast driving down and staying for almost a week.  I would love to relive it again.  I believe I was about 14 or so.
