Phone Calls?
« on: September 03, 2007, 06:28:59 pm »
Has anyone gotten an obscene number of soliticitation calls from doing offers that require you to give your phone number?  I've gotten one so far, but if I'm going to start getting hasseled all the time it's not worth the 50 cents...

You can sign up (it's free) and netzero gives you a (free) phone number for voicemail and you can hook it up to your cell to get notification or you can just check it whenever you are online. :notworthy:

I know I had the same problem when I started doing the freebie sites.  My cell phone was attacked by 20-30 calls a day from different telemarketers.  It took me a few weeks of telling the telemarketers I wasn't interested in teh product and to please take me off of their call list, but in the end, I've only got one that calls me from time to time, but I never answer it anymore.  I signed up for PrivatePhone.com on the 1st.  It's so nice to not worry about entering your own personal number on these sites where you know it's just going to be sold to other companies for the highest dollar.

Also you should add your number to the National Do Not Call Registry if you haven't already.  http://www.donotcall.gov

Yeah I learned the hard way how bad of an idea it is to use your real number when signing up for offers... You sign up for one offer, and that company in turn sells your number to hundreds of other vulture agencies. My e-mail gets hundreds of spam e-mails a day and my phone never seems to stop ringing.
