:cat:  Workmama, I wish you the best with your 5k run this weekend!  I know you will do great!   :D

Thank you! Yes! I did great!! 8 minutes faster than my last run!!

That is fantastic!  Congratulations!!!!   I'm hoping I can start simple jogging again soon.  I'm back up to a sort of fast walk.  My asthma flared up this past year and knocked me for a loop.  My allergy cells quit protecting me so I've been catching everything that comes along, including chronic bronchitis.  They finally approved me for Xolair (shots) and I had my first 2 last week.  They are once a month.  It is supposed to go in and protect my allergy cells, which in turn, should improve my asthma and my quality of life.  My goal is to be jogging (even if slow) by the new year.  Then maybe I can get back on track.  You keep up the great work!!!  :)

Oh Gosh, I just realized how many great friends I have in this chatroom! Reading your posts made me smile and feel blessed that there is still kind and TRUE friends in unlikely places. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!

@irishlady 1970~ Thank you for you compliments! It doesn't matter how long you run or even if it is just a 1/2 mile....the point is that you accomplished a new goal for yourself and that is all that truly matters. You won't believe me, but a few years ago when I started running again (after a loooonnngggg break, after high school....) I could only run 30 seconds at a time....now look at me. A 5k is really easy now. I am setting a new goal for next year in running a 10k (6.2 miles or a half marathon), which I will do next summer in Joplin, MO Boomtown Days. I just thought about Yoga and how that I might help strengthen your core muscles and might even help with you knees. You can do plenty of upper body exercises that can improve your overall cardiovascular endurance.

@jcribb16~ Thank you for your compliments also!! I am sorry to hear about your asthma, I am not quite familair with it, but you can still do some jogging at a slow pace if that is your goal. Interval training would help you with that. You can walk (warmup for 5 minutes than alternate jogging and walking every 30 seconds to a minute to begin with. Every 3 days try to increase the times by 30 secs to a minute if you want to.  :cat:

@ Surveydad~ Thanks to you too!!!  ;)  Yeah, I was surprised that I finished 8 minutes faster than my last. That is a huge jump and I am so proud of myself. I have promised myself to NEVER COMPLAIN AGAIN ABOUT HAVING TO TRAIN @ 5:30 am IN THE MORNING!!! It has really paid off!!!
To answer your question....yes there are other runs coming up but not so much during the Winter months, but I try to do @ least 1 5k run a month. I have another race on New Year's and on Thanksgiving I'm doing a Fun Run with my friends in a 7 miler run on a trail so that will be fun....and then a big Thanksgiving dinner afterwards and I don't have to feel guilty eating any sweets because I "ran and burned" my way...hahahaha!!!!  ;D

Well, have to read to Wyatt and then more work for me...chat with you all later!

Hello everyone how is everyone doing?

I have been a busy bee and in that I have managed to apparently make my self sick :) I have been going to the gym everyday for a couple weeks now and I don't know if it was a lack of sleep or not eating enough that cause me to have a reaction today. While working on my arms (siiiting down tg) I got really dizzy I felt like Iwas going to faint (this is not something that happens to me ever) I have never fainted in my life not even while preggo. It went on for a while too I think it could have been a minute or two it felt like for ever. I have some salted almonds with me and I ate one and it made it go away but it was horrible maybe it was the salt that helped who knows. I hope it doesnt happen again but I will be getting some bloodwork done soon to find out if maybe I am anemic. For the time being I will be making sure I get more healthy foods in my diet and breakfast before my workouts.

Btw: Wooohooo I have almost lost 15 lbs now.

Florezitta,  I'm sorry you had to experience that. I have fainted twice in my life, and felt like it a couple of times, and never will like that feeling that comes over me.  I am glad you are having some bloodwork done.  Hopefully they can pinpoint what the problem is, like what you said for anemia; also blood sugar (that's how I fainted one of the times.)  Hang in there and please keep us posted.  Feel better quick!!!

TY for your concern. I will get it checked out I feel better just a lil freaked out right now. I thought about sugar levels too and maybe that was it cuz I had some salted almonds and it helped a lot :)

@ Flor~ Sorry to hear about your fainting spell. It sounds to me that your body might need some rest.  :sad1:  Sometimes when we work our bodies out too much and don't give our muscles time to recover instead of injury, we approach illness or even fainting like what almost happened to you.
Be sure to include a healthy diet and lower you salt intake...too much sodium isn't a good thing and can cause headaches and high blood pressure. Although, your blood pressure might have been to low or dropped suddenly which caused the vertigo (dizziness). Drink 6-8 glasses of water a day and if you need to, only exercise every other day. Never go below 1200 calories per day also, as going below the recommended min. amount can cause your organs to fail and future complications.  :angry7:
I have never fainted before, although sometimes I get dizzy too, but mainly that is because I jumped up too fast from a sitting postition. ALWAYS EAT BREAKFAST within 30 minutes of waking up also because this helps regulate your blood pressure and jump starts your metabolism. Never skip meals!! I would keep healthy snacks on hand and water while you workout and LISTEN to your body...yes, it does give you signals that you must hear and pay attention too.

Well, that is all I can think of that I know from my years of training...so I thought I would pass it along to you.  ;)
CONGRATS on the 15 pounds weight-loss, and btw~ I AM SO PROUD OF YOU TOO!!!

Ty sweetie I always like to listen and take in everything good that I can.. I have been really good about my eating except for saturday and sunday I didnt go over cals for sure but I also didn't add any good food so that along with lack of sleep and daily workouts made my body say no more.

I will listen to my body today when I got up I went and ate an apple and had some water to start off. I will have to adjust my workouts until I feel comfortable again. I think it was a combo of alot of things that did it. I am so scared to even drive now I am affraid It will happen again and wont be able to control my car. :(

Any supplements u think would help me get my strength back. I am going to go get a multivitamin but was thinking of adding maybe a healthy shake in the mornings just to make sure I start the day of right. Any tips on that.

In the mean time I have been eating more Iron .. Need to adjust a lot of things :) I would never put my health at risk in order to loose some weight :))

One vitamin that can help you is B-6. This type of vitamin helps convert food into enegry and is essential in red blood cell formation that could help you from getting anemia if that is your case actually.
Also, drink this:
Chocolate milk contains carbohydrates and mainly in the form of sugar which is also critical to muscle recovery. Spiked insulin levels that result from the intake of sugar help force glucose into the muscles, which hastens muscle repair. Make sure though that you do this only after doing an intense workout for @ least 1 hour, anything less does not call for muscle recovery. Make sure you stretch post workout no matter how long they are.

Hope this helps any.

Ok will get b6 :) So if I buy a protein shake in chocolate flavor will that do the trick? I always work out for 1 hr at least 30 mins treadmill 5 cooldown and the rest on the rest of my body mostly arms and abs :) I usually burn about 250-300 cals on the treadmill so Idk what do u think??

I think that chocolate milk would be more effective than a protein shake.......but that is just my opionion, since I run almost everyday. You could go with a protein shake. Those Special K Protein shakes are really good....I had one awhile back ago. Do you run or jog on the treadmill, or is it mostly walking? You can interval training and incline the treadmill up to 2% to begin with. Doing this, will put less pressure on your hips and knees and when it comes time to run outside it is much easier. By Interval Training on the treadmill I mean to vary the speed and time of walking/jogging. When you get to 6.0 or higher you will be running.
Well, gotta go. Hope you have been feeling better and its so good to chat with you again Flor!!  ;D

Hey girl! I mostly walk on the treadmill although my Incline goes as high as 11 at times to keep my heart rate up. Speed is almost always on or around 3mph. Since I just started after years of no real exercise I wanted to start of slow. So ur telling me that any chocolate milk? Wont it have like a ton of sugar in it tho? I will try the special K one I have the cereal in the morns already. :) What about soy?
