Race should never be an issue but there are too many people out there that still just by looks or the way a person sounds will make a jugdement call with out know anything about that person.  The biggest issue thing is if you teach your children correctly all of it should go away.  But there are alot of people out there that say they are not raceist but due to some little thing said or how they act to others there is some raceist things done that are passed to the children.  Look in a park if no one ever says playing with someone of a nother color is wrong then you will see every child will play with every child, for the out going children.  I try to make sure the my two daughters know only difference in everyone when you look at them is just a skin color.  Color should never make the difference.  Only difference is after you get to know someone if you like them for them not anything else.  Then also never assume that everyone that looks the same acts the same.  Even two people that are identical twins will act differently.  The best statment on this so far to me is this

We all have to share the cities, counties, states, countries, and world with each other.  The soon we accept that the better everyone will be.

Race is a concocted concept with no real meaning at all. All humans should be treated fairly.

I don't think there is any difference.
I grew up in a home that believed that white skin was better, but as I grew up I came to my own conclusion we are all the same.
No one is better then the other.

That is great to hear that you did get away from how your being raised and formed your own opions.  There are people out there that never look at the full picture and only believe what they are raised with and nothing else.

It's the person who counts, not whether they are black or white... my daughter has been "color blind" since birth and she may marry someone who is blue or purple one day and I'm sure he'll be a great guy...
