Have you ever gotten acrylic nails?

Has anyone ever gotten acrylic nails?? If so did you like them or is it something you tried but will never do it again?? lol I just recently got my nails  done and they are driving me crazy!! i'm sure I will probably get them again sometime, but not for a long time!

I used to get them all the time and I love them.  They look great.  Since I moved I haven't found a new salon to go to so I let my natural nails grow out.  It took them a long time to get strong again but I miss having them.

they are hard to get use to but you do.. I remember the first time I had them I wanted to take them off in 10 mins.. but now if i get them I love them.

I have had them before my best friend did them for me. I loved the way they looked and the way they made me feel. Like a little bit more confident and pretty I guess. I don't like that they mess up natural nails tho they were so soft and brittle afterward and they hurt so bad when they break and sometimes the first days or two as well. They are very pretty tho.

I used to have acrylic nails but it took some time to get used to them.  Once I got them off my nails were really unhealthy and now i do a lot of outside gardening so its difficult to take care of them. So I haven't got them done in a while and I probally won't unless I give up gardening.  Best of luck with your nails

I had them for about 1 year.  They were the Solar nails.  I decided to quit the maintance and expence though.  I'd get a fill every 2 weeks and with the tip I'd spend close to $30 each fill!  I'm a SAHM and figured I'd just keep my nails short and neat and save the money for something else.

Yes I have gotten them done and they drove me batty but then I did them myself and weird thing was they did not drive me as crazy

i have had them before ---  how they looked, but my nails curve and grow too fast that I couldn't keep them looking the way I liked

I would love to get acrylic nails - but I am afraid that with my work, they would interfere with the job.  I work in healthcare and am constantly wearing gloves and don't want to rip them....They look easy to handle...are they worth the try??

i got them several years ago, they are nice , but when you don't want them any more , they hurt coming off and tear up your real nails

Yes, I have.  There are some factors to consider.  Yes, they make your hands look beautiful, but @ the cost
of a weak, fragile nail bed which takes months to heal.  Let's not forget to mention the possibility of developing
a fungus under your own nail, if water seeps in because the manicurist missed a spot.

Also, in this economy, the bi-monthly cost for repairs & maintenance is considered a luxury not a necessity.

I had them once when I was 10 and I hated them. I could barely do my work during school so I went into the bathroom and took them off. Never again.

No and I doubt I ever will.  They are very bad for your nails and I really don't find them attractive at all.

I loved the way that mine looked, but i had such a hard time getting used to them. all but one of them have come off and my nails are so unhealthy  and they hurt really bad...I'm not sure if it's worth it to keep getting them. now i'm not saying that i will never get them again, because i probably will again at sometime, but not for a long time lol
