i met my husband on yahoo personals before all the other major dating sites were started.
we met in person after a few e-mails and then we dated like anyone else  :)  it was great and I am so grateful to have met him!  :)

you can meet crazy guys/girls no matter how you meet -- no matter what you need to be cautious and get to know someone before sharing address and everything

I don't know maybe i'm oldschool, but i'd be scared to hook up on the 'net like that.
It seems so desperate though and who knows you could meet a killer  :-

Of course they can, if you go into them knowing they initially won't be like a typical relationship.  You won't physically hold hands, hug, snuggle, etc, won't go out to eat or the movies, and such.  However, you can really get to know the person on a much more inner level, as you aren't necessarily allowing physical appearances to make your judgements.

I met my wife online over 9 years ago now.  We carried on a mostly internet relationship (there were occasional visits) for close to 3.5 years.  I won't lie, the internet relationship can be very hard at times.  But, if you can get through it, there is true love (just like there is love anywhere else) which can be found. :)

i feel that meeting people online is no different than meeting them in person. They can lie to you just as much in your face as they can over the computer. i had a couple online relationships, but they didn't work out but that's how dating is .. you win some you lose some

Sometimes the relationships work sometimes they don't. My sister has tried a few times and has been unsuccessful. But online relationships/dating isn't for everyone.

I believe the internet relationships are just like any other relationship, it can work if you put your heart into the relationship.  I also know that it can be scary.  There are all kinds of weirdos out there but that is also true in person.
But I have to say yes, they can work, because I am in a relationship and have been for almost a year and we met on the internet.
We were friends for several months before we actually met, then we talked and dated for a while and then last August we decided it was time to really give it a try and move in together.  Now we are seriously talking about marriage.  And I have to admit, this is the best relationship I have ever been in.
