That is so terrible! Is there not an alternative solution like a canine trainer or shelter?

Jeez that is terrible. I've lost 3 dogs within a span of 2 years. It's hard.

That is just awful.  I feel for you.  I just took my dog to the vet and he is officially going blind.  He had been running into things, especially in the dark.  He is also is in the early stages of heart failure.  The first vet ophthalmologist visit would be $150 at a minimum, which I don't have, but his blindness will be irreversible no matter what I do.  The purpose of the visit would be to determine what caused the blindness, i.e. hypertension, kidney disease, or an eye disorder, etc.

Stop it, you guys... you're making my problems with my dog seem minor indeed! My girl had a tow amputated over a year ago. It had seemed to have healed up over the winter, but then just recently she started picking at it again and reopened the wound. So now she has to go around with the "cone of shame", and I can tell she hates that thing. But I guess a stupid cone is nothing compared to having to be put down. So sorry!  :'(

OK do you understand that most dogs get aggresive when they have pups?  That is a natural instinct.  I rarely try to get in an argument here because I try to make friends, but as a huge animal lover and a parent of three dogs from rescue shelters, they is almost no dog that is not able to be saved and adopted out to the right home.  I think it sounds as though your relative did not know enough about dogs to own one.  It should have never had pups in the first place.  It breaks my heart that people take on an animal and then don't have the time or will to do their homework.  What will they do if they have children that get aggresive???????  Take the dog to a no kill shelter.  It won't cost you a dime and the dog will be saved and out of you relatives hair.

Wonderful post samrhett2! It's as if you were reading my mind because I could have written that same thing. Such a shame to read things like this when something can be done.  :(

It breaks my heart.  One day I am going to try to do more for rescue dogs.  Right now I have given these 3 a loving home.  One who was going to be put to death because she has Addison's disease and the people didn't want to pay her medical bills.  One that was left for dead as a pup and then spent the first 3 years of his life in a shelter because he was too shy and scared to be adopted, and one who was dumped at a horrible shelter and due for execution the next day.  They are all wonderful animals, but it took lots of love and patience.  I wouldn't take a million dollars for any of them and someone else threw them away.

Is her aggression due to the puppies.  Our dog got that way for a while but she got better after awhile.  Just being protective of the babies.  Sorry to here it.   :)

wow I have never heard of a dog getting that aggressive after having pups....but then again we have never allowed any of our dogs to even get pregnant because they were fixed ASAP.

That is sad.  Pets are like family.  I want a dog, but my boyfriend and I are always gone working or going to school, and he refuses to let me have a cat.
