Is Star Worship Out of Control?
« on: July 03, 2010, 08:10:23 pm »
I notice a lot of "news" about famous people floating around.  I'm constantly bombarded with headlines like "Why Angelina cut Shiloh's Hair." Who needs to know why this woman cut her child's hair?  Why is this considered news?  With the addition of social networking sites, fans follow their favorite stars and find out everything they can. What the person eats, where they live, if they sneezed while on the toilet today. I think it's insane. What do you think?

Yeah, it's pretty nutty.  Most actors/singers are just regular people who simply happen to have a very public job.  I can like the movie they were in or the song they sang, but at the end of the day, it's just their job and most of these people are NOT THAT SPECIAL (people can realize this if they ever see a star in person).  We should be admiring people who actually contribute to the betterment of society (doctors, scientists) rather than those that merely entertain us.
"It is far better to grasp the universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring."

It's ridiculous.  If people spent as much time following and being informed about actual problems as they do about trivial junk, like that Vienna girl getting dumped or whatever, the world would be a much better place.

I kind of feel bad for most of the stars.  Some of them love the spotlight like that, but can you imagine people following you around everywhere and taking pictures of you and your kids-criticizing every aspect of your life???  If you get a zit, it's on the front page of the Enquirer and your freaking zit is on newsstands and in the front of checkout counters at crocery stores everywhere.  That has to suck.....

I couldn't agree more, and what's even more irritating is these "reality" stars they like to put on the cover of magazines and talk about on celebrity news show's. Like someone mentioned, who cares if that cross eyed Vienna sausage or whatever the hell her name is broke up with whoever. That crap is fake anyway!

I think it is about mind control actually. I believe its called hollywoodism. People will identify with what the stars did in circumstances and think that is the correct way to do anything. Thats why I dont watch TV. Lots of mind control in it. Here is what I think about what star cut the childs hair.  :bootyshake: :bootyshake: :bootyshake: :bootyshake: :bootyshake: :bootyshake: :bootyshake: :bootyshake: :bootyshake: :bootyshake:
