Christian doctrine, in my opinion, is, among other things, heinous mental abuse.

That is your opinion, as you say.  Opinion is not fact, but everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I pray for them, but I could never hate them.
If I may pry, why do you pray for them? If it's too personal, forget I said this.
[/quote]

They have needs (as do all of us.)  I pray for them for anything: cancer, bad days, job interviews, family/friends that are sick, etc.  Some even ask me if I would say a little prayer for them.  It certainly cannot hurt a thing to pray for anyone.  My main answer though, is since I am a Christian, my God wants me to and that settles it for me.

I wouldn't say Christians hate atheists. I'm a Christian, and if Christians are true followers they don't hate anyone. That doesn't mean that can't become frustrated or angry with them...In my opinion they resent one another because often Christians try pushing their views on atheists and in turn atheists try pushing their views on Christians which can stir up a lot of hostility.

I like what you have to say, here, and totally agree.  I'm really glad that Christians are standing up for what we/they believe.

They dont.  True christans dont hate anyone.  I dont hate atheists I just feel sorry for them.
Why? And I could say the same as you but I do not. I do not feel sorry for you nor any other believer. And I certainly do not need you nor anyone else feeling sorry for me. I have a wonderful life, as I live it. Just because I do not think like a cult please do not feel sorry for me. I am an individual with a mind and I use it with the knowledge and proof of this world. Feel sorry for the millions of children out there starving, feel sorry for the people who have addictions to drugs, feel sorry for the parents who have had to bury their children before them themselves had a chance in life.

You know what I don't like.....is comments like these. For one thing, with the first comment, your argument is to set up to intimidate and create shame in the person for what they believe. (Cruelty)
You stand on a self built intellectually elite platform, looking down on the poor Christian fools with your degrading remarks about their belief; trying to make them feel threatened and ashamed to stand on their position. (Cruel emotional manipulation)

With the entire thread, but culminating in the second remark....well maybe I'm just sum dum ole krischin but...If I were to start a thread about "Why do black people steal from white people" WHAT??!!! You know much heated and outraged comments would be posted in response? Why is that? AHEM, prejudice much?

I AM A CHRISTIAN, therefore I believe and practice Christian Doctrine. Does anyone want to tell me I have been hateful? Have I heinously abused people mentally while defending my Christian beliefs here in this forum??

So this is the basic problem with Christianity, or any other religion for that matter, is that they rely solely on belief and not evidence.

Not I...I have evidence.
Not to sure huh?? I...I see the reason I started this thread was so you would quit trying to shove religion down everyone's throat. Go to church if you are so worried about a false prov-icy.

??? I am the one that speaks to him...I heard my Grandfather and my puppy Tiffy.
WTF?????

Like Sherna was saying about comments, this comment is based only on your opinion.  Prove that I am in a cult.  Not one time have I made any rude or intimidating comments to you, or anyone else in here, that do not believe as I do.  We can agree to disagree without cutting each other's choice down.  Also, the way some of you goad Marie is rediculous - at least she's trying to get involved and express what she feels.  Sometimes I think some of you actually enjoy goading instead of really debating the questions put forth on here.

And all the comments on god filling up the threads are your opinions prove me wrong and we might have a debate.

It very well could be that Christians, deep down, are afraid that atheists may be right.
I guess the ones that don't have the Gift.

Absolutely NOT.  I know that God is real, and that I am a Christian.  Maybe it is the other way around............

What do they have? A thousands-year-old book filled with stories of talking snakes, global floods, and dead people coming back to life that was written by superstitious sheep herders who didn't have the benefit of modern science with which to understand the world. They also have faith. Faith based on this ancient book, and nothing else. This is a very tenuous position to say the least.

I have VISIONS, I have God ANSWERING PRAYERS, I have myself asking QUESTIONS and GOD ANSWERING THEM... I have spirtual encounters...I have lots of supernatural things going on...sometimes it is bad...but mostly, beautiful.

Go ahead call me what you want, I have reasons to speak as if God is real...while others HOPE?
Well good for you but again what about the millions of children praying to get help with food, with parents?? What about all the "prayers" gone un answered? What makes you more important to god than others?

Turn it around:  All the comments on 'no God' filling up the threads are your opinions. "Prove me wrong and we might have a debate."

As I said earlier, we can at least agree to disagree and go on from there.
