I am considering turning off my DTV signal for 6 months. I would like to save the money and I would like not having the intrusion of TV.

Do you agree with the things that are on TV? It seems everything that is on is just inappropriate. Do you agree with our culture?
Times are changing. I do not agree with everything on the t.v. but this is why there are parental controls on most t.v.'s. All you have to do is block certian channels.

I think that TV and MOvies  have really gotten  pretty desperate in the past few years.   And commercials think that you cannot promote a product without someone  naked or half naked in the commercial.  That is just another sign of the times.

:cat:  Also, tv shows seem to shrink in their time slots, so they can make sure all the commercials take over.  I really don't like that at all!  :angry7:

There's nothing wrong with TV, it is the people who can't think for themselves that think it is evil.  ???
There is a button on the TV or remote that will either let you change the channel or turn it off.

TV has come a long way. I have always had premium channels as I hate the censorship on others, I want to decide what I want to watch when I want to watch it.

I don't watch TV.  No time, and there's nothing really good anymore.  I'll sometimes stream a documentary from the Discovery or History Channel to my computer.  I also like the National Geographic ones.  I have a DVD library of my favorite shows, documentaries, biography's and such.  If I want something special, I will go to a video store and see what they have along those lines.

People that come to my house are surprised I don't have a TV.  When you haven't had one for years, you don't miss it.  Nowadays, you can stream pretty much what you want onto your computer.  My Mac does a lot of great things like that.

I love documentaries and the history channel. I have an HP and am able to stream online also. If we have missed something on t.v. we can always find it on the comp. I don't know if you go to the library at all but they have tons of documentary films able to check out. My husband & I are big history buffs. :)

I generally disagree with TV as a whole now.  There are a few shows that are kinda funny, though.

All reality shows are garbage, and are endorsing people to become even more ridiculous mockeries of themselves in order to make it on camera.  "drama" shows are increasingly graphically violent...  and lewd behavior is getting worse. (grays anatomy is more about every doc sleeping with each other, then the patients who are dying while the docs bone in the lounge)

its getting outta control.  And i love how the media throws a hissy fit about someone flashing a "semi" nipple (j.Jackson.  and that was as much of a nipple as my car keys) but they don't say a word about shows where people get killed every 15 minutes.  Seriously.. WE ALL have nipples.  its not THAT shocking.

I prefer the internet, in any form, over watching TV.  its just a huge waste of time...  at least online I have some form of interaction.

I agree with freedom of speech.  However, that gives television producers and writers the freedom to put something on TV that has value to it than junk TV.  :)  I cannot see the entertainment value of most of the shows, especially the ridiculous un"real" reality shows.  People can turn those shows off, and that's what I do.  The problem is, good TV shows are becoming fewer and fewer, and a lot of people cannot afford premium channels.

Oh yes Amy, the library is almost my second home.  I do check out DVD's from the library, and they have music CD's too.  There are great sets of DVD's like "North and South", WWII, and such.  Definitely one of my favorite places....and it's all FREE!

There are still appropriate shows on TV.  You just need to know where to look.

There are still quality programs on television.  One just needs to know where to find them and be selective in their television viewing.
