New Discussion Board about other sites that we are on
« on: August 29, 2010, 02:15:06 pm »
I want to suggest a new discussion board.   I would like this board to be exclusively for FC members to discuss other sites that they are on or use a lot.  Some of these sites may be similar to FC but for me, I would like to discuss buying and selling on craigslist and ebay.  I realize that I could probably post under "Other" but "Other" tends to be a mish mash.  I would like to see a board dedicated to just talking about other sites that we use or go to a lot: the good, bad and ugly.  No referral links per FC rules.  I am always looking for new ideas but I have a lot to share also.

If you want to find out things - just ask.  Just not here so the members don't get into trouble.  People have no troubles finding me online

While I think that it is important to note that other GPT sites are obviously common grounds here, it seems that maybe just putting a topic together for it would be best to discuss. Alternatively, the admins could sticky some threads, each one for an alternative website or competitor so that others can discuss their experiences, while making it easy for new users to find out about their other options as opposed to wasting time and possibly money signing up for fraudulent companies.

Obviously, don't come on FC and say another (similar) site is better. Don't post referral links to other sites. If you're asking for general information (not a specific answer) about something, it should be ok. Here's my understanding of what's ok and what's not (examples of posts):
NOT OK: I've had a lot of success with this site! Join it at: http://(the address of the site).
OK: Can anyone think of a catchy title for my listing?

I think that there may be some misunderstanding in what I was suggesting.   I was suggesting to FC staff members that they establish a discussion board for us members to post about other sites that we are on or use frequently.   I want this discussion board to be with the support and encouragement of FC.  I do not want anyone to get in trouble.   I was not suggesting that anyone post about another site being better or worse than FC.   And I am not just suggesting PTC sites.  There are other sites out there such as craigslist and ebay besides PTC sites.  I respect and follow FC rules and regulations.   I thought I was making a good suggestion that would add something to the members forum.

There is a lot about this subject that I do not understand. Therefore I have not tried to persue it. I have not even figured out how to make contact with anyone on here outside of this forum. I have met a couple on Facebook from here. There should be some way for us to talk with other FC members about anything we want to talk about.
Anyone have any ideas or suggestions??

I have just started a blog about making money on the web. I would like to publish the name of it on here, BUT I might get in trouble, so I won't.

Perhaps we could ALL join Facebook and converse there.

That is definitely something that I would be interested in doing.

I rather like this idea -- especially having it segregated into its own discussion category to make it easier to find.  But even with that, given the many, many GPT, PTC and other sites, it might be difficult to locate all the threads associated with a given site.

Using the search option might help.

There are alot of sites that provide information about whether a site is a scam or not -- but most of them are useful only if the site in question is old enough to have been studied and by that time, it's too late.   What is useful relative to new sites is information on the owner/admin -- if that person has scammed before, it's likely they will try it again.

I always check for the Better Business Bureau rating before going any further!
