Texting and driving do not go together. It is scary on the road when you see someone doing this and then all the other things as well,  ie.... shaving, putting on makeup, trying to swat the child in the back seat while going 70MPH.   don't know where they got their DL's at but whoever gave them to them needs to ask for them back.   very  dangerous.

This is something I dont approve of. I teach a class at my work on how dangerous this is.  The other night I passed a ambulance and the driver was texting while driving.  Can u beleive that?!

I absolutely despise whoever drives and texts at the same time. You may not be drinking alcohol but you're still being distracted by texting on your cell. It's unsafe.

I personally dont like when people drive and text especially if they cant drive already. My friend almost got into an accident over texting and driving i just think you can wait to text just drive the car. Its not that serious because some people act like the ycant go without there phone ridiculous.

No Texting and driving it is very dangerous we as a people managed just fine without cell phones, texting and the like all this techie stuff is making our society to impersonal so no texting pull over your life and others lives are worth more than a text message.

I definetly would not do both at the same time. Driving and paying attention to the road should be the main concern when driving this is why we see more law coming into play concerning using cell phones when driving and making it illegal will help some but we all know that some will still do it so if you are one of these people please pull over and do your texting from now on .

Don't do it.  Your waiting for an accident to happen.

What to you think about having a wreck and maybe taking someone's life, or maybe your own. You should engage your brain before you get in a car and not do anything that will take your eyes off the road.

I feel that most people can't drive anyway so they shouldn't be driving and texting. It also is very dangerous because when you drive you should be concentrating on the roads so that you don't get in an acident.

driving and texting is so stupid.  If just a few seconds of taking your eyes off the road something really bad could happen.  I think they ought to wait until they pull over or maybe even at a red light would be better than when driving.

I think that talking and texting while driving is dangerous. I have seen a few accidents that have been because of those issues.

:angry7:   I think that it is very dangerous not only the person that is doing it but for any one that is riding in the car with that person. But let us not forget that they also put the other people driving on the roadways with them in danger as well. So I wish that people would not do it, but they do, but atleast the cops were I live have started to stop people we they catch doing it and give them a ticket. I know that some of you will not agree with me about the way I feel about this topic, but here is some food for thought, What if that person who was texting had an accident and killed someone, and they had to live with that for the rest of thier life. Was that message really worth the cost of that person's life.

 :peace: and

I think they need to start allowing texting while driving so that the number of accidents decrease. After all, a recent study found that accident rates have actually increased in a few states where a text-ban had been imposed: http://newsfeed.time.com/2010/09/28/have-texting-bans-made-our-roads-more-dangerous/ So in light of making the roads more safe, we need to repeal those bans!

Ok, a little tongue-in-cheek there... Actually I think part of the problem is that there has been too much focus on cell-phones only. Yet the real problem is distracted driving. Women putting on make-up, men shaving, anyone car for a lighter, fiddling with the radio dials, etc. all can lead to accidents. But most recent laws have only focused on cell phones. As a result, people using cell phones are just trying to be sneaky by hiding their phones in the lap, which causes them to look away from the road for even longer periods of time and therefore increase the rates of accidents. If there were more general laws against distracted driving, then there'd be too much to try to hide and I think all people would start to pay more attention to driving than whatever else they're doing.
