2001 dodge neon
« on: February 23, 2008, 09:13:46 pm »
i am thinking of buying a 2001 dodge neon. i was wondering if anyone owns one and if they have had any problems? i have always owned either a ford or Chevy so i am not real familiar with this car, but i figure for $1,500 its worth a shot unless they are huge pieces of crap.. any info would be appreciated

I rented one and The car is nice but i wouldn't recommend one as a family car because the inside is small!

AND they sit low to the ground.

my mom owned a neon for a good 7-8 years and had few problems.... her complaint  was the "work" involved getting out of the car. (as shes getting older, of course)

you do have to stand up out of the car, rather than just turning and standing.

thats a concern to people with leg trouble.

but mom did love that little car.

my sister had that car, it was ok, but the back windows were manual, and since the back of the car sits a little higher you have to be a little more careful backing up..it was a nice car for her, it was a beautiful patriotic blue, she even put a bra on it..thats a good deal for $1500 depending on the mileage of course

Ive owned a 2001 neon for the last 4 years and have no complaints.  And it gets great gas mileage.

thanks for all the comments, it does have high miles but as far as mechanical the only thing i could find with it is it shakes when it idols, but from what i have read online that seems to be pretty normal
Ive owned a 2001 neon for the last 4 years and have no complaints.  And it gets great gas mileage.
that is the exact reason i want to buy it. cuz right now i have a suburban and it is KILLING me on gas, (not to mention it's gonna crap out on me any day now

AND they sit low to the ground.

yep that one i can deal with i am practically a midget, i have to sit on a pillow to see over the dash of my suburban, oh and jump to get in it....
thanks everyone, i was expecting everyone to say its a crappy car but i feel better now

well, every car had lemon potential.... we sold moms neon to a friend of my moms and its still going strong.... (it is a 94 or 95)

my g/f owned TWO neons.... and never had any major trouble....  until one of her daughters wrecked one.... but that wasnt the cars fault.... she just cant drive.

seriously... at 25 shes had about 9 wrecks.... (THAT WE KNOW OF!)

she shouldnt be behind the wheel of a car.

i guess it doesnt matter now cuz i told hubby i was buying it and he said no way  :angry7:  ( no neon's, escort's, contour's, corolla's, or kia's of any kind) and i guess i have to listen since half the money IS his. hey JLB or any other man here, why is it that men think women cant buy a good car on there own  :BangHead: , and only a man can get them a good deal?  :bs:  i ask cuz my hubby acts as if the only thing women concider in a car is if  "it's pretty"

lets be honest.

most women DONT know a whole lot about cars... SOME lack even in the most basic knowledge..  i have met grown women who didnt know where the oil is put in the engine... SURE THERE ARE EXCEPTIONS... BUT ITS NOT THE RULE.

but, thats ok.... i cant iron my clothes to save my friggin life. (thats why i send everything to the cleaners, if my g/f doesnt do those things... which my current one of four years doesnt)  ;D

i think, rather than attempting to create a world whereas everyone is a "jack of all trades".... society is better served with people who are doing jobs for which they are better suited.... to the individual of course... not necessarly the gender.

but, i've digressed.... i can only reiterate that.... i've "known" three neons... and of the three, not one of them gave anyone any major trouble.

as a matter of fact.... my g/f owns a jeep liberty and a p.t. cruiser ... and still talks about she wish she didnt sell one of her neons. (the one that wasnt wrecked!) LOL.
