What an amazing come from behind win for the Yankees tonight.  Five runs in the eighth inning to come all the way back from 5-1 down, after Sabathia had nothing.  Just shows again that you can have good starting pitching, as the Rangers had tonight, but you better also have a great bullpen if the starter can't stretch it out deep into the game.  The Yankees' MO for years has been to feast on mediocre and poor bullpens once they chase the starter from the game.  They did just that tonight.  Mariano Rivera then also showed again why he's the greatest closer of all time, striking out Young with a runner in scoring position, and then get Hamilton to swing at the first pitch and make the final out.

Another team choking against the Yankees.
Sigh.
Just give them championship #28 now and make it a miserable end to this season.

wow! That comeback was amazing!!! GO YANKEES!!! Even though it's only the first game, I think that was a big lost
for Texas, just because they were winning at were home....morale was lost for sure....I think the Yankees will win
the series, though, probably in 6 games....Cliff Lee will win against them I think as he has in the past-he's really good

Don't count the Rangers out yet!!! We've had an amazing season this year and it ain't over til it's over! Personally, I just want to see the Yankees taken down. I'm a Red Sox girl m'self so any Yankee loss will be cause for celebration!!

Even though it's only the first game, I think that was a big lost for Texas, just because they were winning at were home.

I agree.  I usually never think game one's are series defining/breaking, but the way they lost the game makes you wonder if their psyche is going to take a huge hit.  However, if they go on to win today, last night won't even matter.  They would have tied the series (which was probably their goal going to NY anyway, being 1-1) with Lee going in game 3.  If they can go on to win game 3, they'd be up 2-1 and have Lee again in either game 6 or 7, and Wilson would go again in game 5 (Yanks looked bad against him last night while he was in), so they wouldn't be out of it by any stretch.

But, should the Yankees win again tonight, this series is probably over.  I wouldn't be surprised if it was over in 5 games.

Don't just hand it to them that quickly.  If they move on to the World Series and end up playing Philadelphia, the Phillies are a serious contender.  Their front three starters might be the best in the playoffs this year.  It's always about pitching.  And, unlike San Francisco who also has good pitching, Philadelphia can score.  Also, they'd have home field advantage, courteous of the National League winning the All-Star Game.

Philadelphia, I believe, is actually favored to win in many places over the Yankees in the World Series, should they meet.  A Philly/NY World Series could have the makings of being an all-time classic World Series, if it lived up to the potential.

That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.

You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into in the first place.
