Polygamy

I really don't agree with it, there is a new tv show on A&E called SISTER WIVES, and this guy just got married to a 4th woman! To me, I think the reason why these women stay with this guy is because they are "in love" with him, its a part of their religious beliefs(don't know what their religion is), and they all have children by him. Their children are already emotionally attatched to daddy, so therefore, no one can really leave the relationship without hurting the children. Its like a trap, or something!

The husband believes that love  should be multiplied, not divided! Soooo why can't his other wives go and get themselves a couple of men too?? Some of this guys wives seem really unhappy, and it's hard to watch sometimes, because he just sits there and plays dumb when they are expressing their emotional troubles about their relationships with him!!!  That's really f!@#ed up!! What are your thoughts?

They had the choice and they still do.  You're right in that the way we grow up affects what we believe, but that works with monogamy as well.  We grew up with monogamy as being socially acceptable and that's why we find it odd, but it's a bit ethnocentric to believe monogamy is better.  Also, you can't really say that monogamy is better than polygamy just because the women look unhappy.  There is unhappiness in monogamous relationships as well (the husband that comes home, gets a beer, and sits his butt on the couch).  There is divorce in monogamous relationships, and there can be divorce in polygamist relationships.  These woman have a choice just like any other woman in any type of relationship, only in this case there are more partners than just her.

I think polygamy is a scam set up by men in order to have sex with other women.  They convince their wife that God says it is o.k., then they have free reign to do what they want.  A strong woman would not put up with this.

Personally I think it's selfish as it can multiply humans much faster. I agree with Anguyen though- it was their choice to get trapped. People are going to find different systems around the world. And if anyone thinks their way is completely superior, they're an ethnocentric dunce.

In this case, maybe. The problem here is he has kids with all 4 women therefore he has an emotional attachment. If he ends up leaving them, yeah. Dat *bleep*.

I read somewhere, I cannot recall were but they were being investigated. And in my opinion it degrades woman in general.

The only thing different between polygamy and what people do on a day to day basis is they are married to multiple women at the same time. What I mean is people have children by tons of different people and go through the process of divorce, in my own opinion, the world is messed up.

You have half brothers and sisters along with step...it is like just muddying the water. Nothing pure, so judge not, right.

You hit the nail on the head with this one! Most men do not stick to one woman even if they are married. Not that I condone or like the idea of polygamy, but at least this guy is honest about it???
