How can you get your teenager to get up and help around the house?  Taking everything away and grounding does no good.

Tell them there are no free rides in life or in your household.  If they are going to continue to live under your roof they need to follow the rules which means they need to help contribute to the family.  Go on strike.  Stop doing anything for them.  Stop cooking for them stop doing their laundry if they ask for anything say no.  It might force them to do things for themselves.  If they don't have to do anything around the house you don't either.

I give my daughters allowance if they do ALL their chores. If they neglect one chore on their list they get no money. Also take away activities, I have done that before also. Now my oldest daughter is not a teen shes a tween but maybe that will give you an idea. Otherwise lock em in the closet till they are 20,,,LOL just joking!!!

WOHOO I like the way you think. And you are 100% right. When your children are old enough to help the household with picking up or doing a chore you ask they shouldn't complain they should be happy to help.
