Playboy and others
« on: October 22, 2010, 10:05:45 am »
Okay I have a question to see how many people agree with me and if you do not agree PLEASE tell me why. I am not going to debate you guys I just want to see were others minds take them on this subject.
Playboy, Hustler lets even throw in Playgirl. :dontknow:
These magazines do not bother me. I had a friend who said she lost all respect for my husband since he reads and looks at playboys. I told her that in all honesty its non of her business what he looks at or reads for that matter.
The reasons behind me not caring are very simple. Its a magazine, these woman are posing on their own free will. See the girls next door they actually started careers over posing as well as many other actress's and models. I also do not mind as this is just a magazine all these pics have been so done up with a software system that they honestly do not even look this good, truly.
What do you think? Are you against your husbands or boyfriends looking at these magazines, and if yes please explain why.

Thank you for letting me understand another side to this.. Again im not debating but to me its not cheating I do not care if my husband is not thinking of me while looking at magazines. I would rather a magazine than actual cheating. If im making any sense.

I agree.

It doesn't bother me at all.

IMO most women that have a problem with publications such as Playboy are insecure!
There are worst things guys can look at that are free on the internet.
My wife got me a subscription for Father's Day one year.

But yeah, I don't care...if he wants to look, go ahead but I think it's funny, cause he will never get any of those girls. I wouldn't care if my guy cheated either, I wouldn't stay with him but if he can cheat then he doesn't love me, so I am so over him anyways...and not to mention all the diseases out there he can kill me with.

I would rather be celibate then die of Aids or something. I'm Not a fling, I need a ring.

Well of course. I agree! I wouldnt stay either.

but looking at a magazine wont give you a disease. So, I am all for it  ;D

I don't agree with it. But it has more to do with my moral beliefs than insecurity, my husband also does not agree with looking at those types of magazines. We both used to watch full out pornography together but as we have grown together in our marriage, we have found much more happiness in being each others playmates  ;)

The girls who pose in magazines and work at strip joints do this on their own terms, and they get paid well to do it.  They are being objectified, but they are fully aware of that fact when they strip down.  Personally, the only person I want seeing my body is my husband, but it isn't my place to tell anyone else what they should do with their bodies, and I'm not about to try to control my husband to the point that he may want to go out and feel up some strange woman's body.  If he is with me or looking at me, it should be because that is where he wants to be, not because I'm making that choice for him.  If he wants to be with someone else, I can make the choice to not allow him to be with me after.

Besides, how is looking at a magazine any different than watching a movie with a scantily clad female in it?  Many actresses also do nude scenes.  So, if Halle Berry does a nude scene and wins an Oscar for it, it is art, but if Anna Nicole Smith poses in Playboy nude, its trashy?  Doesn't make sense to me; nudity is nudity.  Sure, when my husband watches *bleep* or looks at nude pictures, he's not thinking about me... but he's also not out there putting his baby-maker in someone else's body, either.  I look at other men, too, and sometimes they happen to be nude.  I love to sit back with a bowl of popcorn and watch Supernatural and think to myself "Gee, Jensen Ackles is one fine piece of booty," but I'm not out with the boy next door, either.  It is a natural thing to look, plain and simple.  It doesn't bother me, unless it becomes an obsession and interferes with what we do in the privacy of our bedroom.   :dontknow:

AmyRouse I love the point you made!!
And maybe it is insecurity but I just don't understand how a woman could be jealous of a magazine.

I don't mind the magazines or even the *bleep* or my hubby watching it but more if he hides that he watches or looks at it.  If he feels he has to hide it from me then I start to wonder why..because hes usually very open about what he likes he wont hesitate to yell mmm boobies if he sees them on TV.  I think that the magazines are no different than many famous nude works of art.  Its not like they force the women in the magazines to take there clothes off they get paid very well to do it and who am I to judge how they pay their rent.  Its natural for guys to be attracted to the female body as it is for women to be attracted to the male body and if you have a guy that you can trust you have nothing to worry about if they look at a few magazines.  If a guy cheats its not because he looked at a few magazines that gave him ideas

The bible says if a man has lusted in his heart it is sin. So that's where the moral part of my problem comes in. Men are visually stimulated and looking at woman and having sexual thoughts is cheating in his heart and committing the same sin as if he actually physically cheated.

It's not impossible for a man to live without looking at half clad or nude women. Many a men do it and many a wives are much happier knowing their man doesn't need that to make them happy.

Also I don't think it's art when Halle Barry is nude in a movie. In fact my husband's brother was making fun of him because they went to some movie together and my husband turned his head when any woman was not properly clothed, and my husband used to be like any other guy and look at playboy and watch pornography.....he doesn't anymore, and he doesn't want to. I'm proud of him

A long long time ago I came to the conclusion that what takes place between consenting adults is the business of the consenting adults.  As far as playboy or other magazines are concerned.  As long as they are not exploiting or promoting child pornography go for it.  As for me personaly I tend to view a womans body as a work of art that should be treasured and appreciated whether clothed or unclothed.

Reading those kinds of books/magazines are an indication of where a person is morally.
